i remember reading an 'interview' with the turtles in some magazine or comic, and Donatello was asked what his best invention was and he started naming some of the mutatin' toys and i'm thinking.. I've never really consciously thought about it, but the muta vehicles... don't actually exist in any canon, right? they're just imaginary.

come on anon. They were just a little sillier. but also a tiny bit less ugly. The first movie TMNT had this real character on their face that you'd expect from sewer-dwelling misfits.
Second movie was more expressive without sacrificing realism, but they acted a lot sillier. More like the kind of character-on-their-face that you'd expect from people who saved the fucking city and now get to party down and live in a nice apartment.
but the anon who said we might just get new heads for the existing bodies? I'm okay with that unless someone can show me where the suit design really changed

third movie? kill it with fire. Had its good points but they were OOGLY. and it's bizarre that current releases of the original movies use the movie III suit face photography

see the thing is I love the armor, and the idea of it, and the way that kabuto and menpo are already this really oversized so all you have to do is imagine some of the interior padding is removed and they would 100% fit on turtles..
but their faces, man. they had really visible eye slits and everything. beaky-ass noses... The rest of the turtle suits weren't that bad, just bland, too bright, spots looked too clean

Wouldn't Neca be the one that's more likely to make a figure of him since there's no 80s toy for Super7 to reference? Maybe Revoltech could do one too under the Amazing Yamaguchi line since they like to make their figures with a more dynamic looking sculpt and a bunch of accessories.

Hopefully since, NECA is making the mold, they'll eventually reuse it and release a slightly altered figure in regular retail exclusive packs.

My ideal Wave 5, based upon what I think we'll see in the upcoming waves. I'm expecting Rat King and Krang coming up, I would have said Slash in this wave, just because I want him, but I think they'll stretch things out since they like to give at least one major villain a wave according to Brian Flynn. Crimson Commander, outside of posting news, also posts normally on here and 4chan in general dislikes tripfags as it goes against the anonymous nature of the site.
Anyway he recently spoiled the last episode of the Mandolorian which pissed off a bunch of people and people have a grudge against him.
He also shitposts about a youtuber called retroblasting and got caught out since he left his trip on once.
The reason people call him Scott is because a few times he has linked to Toygurus YouTube videos about toy production so they think they're the same person.
In addition to this toyguru recently made videos tackling stuff like the thundertank and hasslab stuff, things retroblasting has strong opinions of so people think toyguru hates retroblasting.
Personally I don't think CC is toyguru since they've got very different opinions on MOTU as well as other things.

I hate how these are meant to be vintage 80s figures when the actual vintage figures weren't Star Wars styled.

You're not entirely wrong anon, it kinda triggers me with seeing some of the sculpts being too retro Star Wars-ish, when they should be 5poa figures with insane sculpts. The Rocksteady looks really good in that line and the Toxic Crusaders also had really good looking Re-Actions.

As for the price, I imagine it's because the Re-Actions are so niche and cater to certain kinds of collectors. I've been tempted a few times to get into the line, but I'm sticking with Ultimates.

the old toys had such creative arrays of weapons, and it's sad that's not the case anymore even if I completely understand it. I can't help but wonder what the next iteration of TMNT will be like. if it follows the pattern of the comics franchises that inspired TMNT, we're going to see something that half-attempts a serious tone, but then loads everything up with toy commercial shenanigans and a complete lack of connected plot.. so the toys will probably look really badass but also be loaded with insane gimmicks and weapons. Not something I'd enjoy watching, but likely make for cool toys.

Super7 and Neca can do both apparently because it's just a gentleman's agreement. I think they're just trying to avoid putting out the same type of figures at the same time. Super7 just did an Alpha One figure in the Re-Action line. It's neat that Neca's doing a toy color variant, and Super7 has said they're doing characters who weren't in the vintage Playmates line.

Anyone else using their vintage toy style weapons for their Ultimates? I had a my Splinter arrive in the mail with his weapon's rack rattling around inside the box, and when I opened it, one of the arrows was starting to come off the rack, so I committed to just removing them all off it just to see what it looked like-- it brought on major nostalgia for the original line and over all looked fun for Splinter to use the unpainted weapons, even though I liked the detail of the painted ones. Plus the weapon rack itself makes for a cool prop for displays.

The last time I saw any was an old helicopter model I built in the 90s, the model side was sticky but not enough to pull the plastic from so you had to press the decal down hard enough for it to adhere more to the model then peel away. They always fucking flaked.

Yeah, that's the belt buckle they gave him. His feet bend at the ankles and are designed in a way that he's supposed to have his legs bent a little at his knees. He does have ankle rockers tho. Mine poses pretty nice. He also has a joint on upper tail that lets it hinge out and spin around, and the lower part of the tail also has a separate articulation point. As for the eyes they sculpted the pupils but you can hardly see them there. The sculpt kinda curves ever so slightly and forms them in his eye and you'll have trouble noticing it in the sculpt without looking at it very closely.

I didn't think I'd like the figure as much as I do until I had it hand. The hot tea cup with the steam effect coming off of it really adds to it. They should have done an updated head with him like they did with the Turtles.

It's supposed to be a narrow strip of nose, that's what a real rat has. sharp horizontal boundaries. they painted over it onto the muzzle, giving him a big doofy Sharky the Sharkdog nose, which the super7 version smoothed out into a simple round Brian Griffin nose.

Brian teased that they were an indication of where the line would go after the first 4 Turtles come out, so each wave could still have 1 Turtle; that if they were in Re-Actions it meant they would likely see a release in Ultimates. I think from the original Turtle disguises the only one that doesn't really excite me that much is the Space Cadet Raph. I don't hate it, but all the others are so much cooler, at least they are to me.

Got the Raph re-release from EE, hips are a little jiggly still. Major changes that I can see are the teeth are glossy compared to Leo's matte, not sure if the original raph has matte or not. Weapon rack is also a darker brown. Eye and mouth paint is also a little sloppy, but not too bad.

Some of the first release Raphs have overspray on their eye paint as well just likes yours. I had two of them, and sold one off that had the overspray and it was just like in your photo. I bought a second release Raph just to have one, but haven't taken him out of the mailer to inspect him. The overspray wasn't horrible, I could live with that. I did notice tighter joints on my second release Splinter also.

Do what Mattel is doing with He-Man and give us $15 updated versions of the classic figures, along with figures of things we didn't get, like Roadkill Rodney, Keno, Tatsu, movie Aprils that's not her in Movie 3 costume, maybe figures from the last season of the classic show, and 2003 and 2012 if the line lasts long enough.

Supposedly the most fragile QC ridden Xeno made by Neca, but yet mine is fine, and I pose it alot. Tight joints and all right from the package to all these years later. Funnily enough the chestburster it came with melted away.They need to work on QC, that is a fact.

1. Their own version of what Super7 is doing with Ulitmates but with less accessories, paint apps, and very few if any interchangable hands for about $20 a figure.

2. Do their own version of MOTU Origins with the classic Playmates designs.

3. This one's out of their hands, but Nick should revive the 2012 series with a new 2D cartoon like Rise had.

I still maintain this is the best April we've ever gotten.

Classic yellow jumpsuit aside, her face is really well done, it's Megan Fox-ish while still being cartoony and her own person if you didn't care about the Bay movies - a good compromise.

Yeah, I don't see Playmates doing any of this. Turtle Mania is happening among collectors, but only for that late 1980s-early 1990s period, not the franchise as a whole. The smart thing for them would just be to keep doing what they're doing, hope whatever incarnation of Turtles we get next is a hit, and support that with toys. Origins and Masterverse were timed with the Sony movie (delayed due to COVID) and Netflix series (same thing)
