Also found some more pics of upcoming figures. Toxtricity has a pretty ugly neck hinge but other than that, he looks like a fun figure. Also wish Wooloo was larger compared to the other figures. Dex height is listed as 2'. Glad to finally be adding more Galar Pokemon to the collection! I'd like to see Dragapult, Grimmsnarl and Corviknight soon.

Pidgeot looks like an even better version of Aerodactyl (in terms of engineering), so that looks good. All the 2-packs look great, and I haven't grabbed Larvitar yet, so I may grab that. Raichu is looking real cute too.

Raichu in general seems a bit big, especially if we're going by official height. I don't mind, it's kind of like fat pikachu vs lean pikachu, so I'll just take it that way. In my head Raichu is quite chunky from what I remember anyways.

They could have done ball joints in the wings where they meet the body and also at the half way point where the hinge is now, but that wouldn't have allowed them to integrate the flapping action feature. I don't think the wings look to bad actually and Pidgeot's not one you'd need in more than one or two poses anyway.

I'm just wondering if we'll ever get some actual trainers besides Ash. The only other trainer I remember getting was Serena. It'd be cool if we could get Gold, Silver, other game protags, and some gym leaders as well.

Only other big one is Dragonite at the moment, but he's pretty gone from stores. You may be able to find one at EB or TRU if you're lucky. The Venusaur is a bit bigger than those 2, so it should look pretty good with them. For just general Pokemon figures, I've seen them quite frequently at Walmart, so there or TRU will be your best bets for finding them.

Just had a thought... Hopefully they are holding off on the previously solicited 4.5" figures that didn't make it into waves like Zoroark and Grimmsnarl for the 6" line. If they already had them sculpted, they could modify them and add articulation/remove the features. I'd prefer to get those guys in more properly sized versions with more poseability.

Doubtful, but technically if they wanted to do this they could take any of their current 4.5" figures and just enlarge the digital files, perhaps detail them up a bit more if needed, then add in the articulation. I also don't think they're getting rid of the 4.5" line, and we already have a Charizard in both lines (and Lucario and Blaziken), so no reason why this trend couldn't continue on other popular Pokemon.

Gardevoir has a big special attack and you get it early, so it can hit SE against the Water/Dark Caravanah and Sharpedo, and hits neutrally against Mightyena. Makes things much easier.

There's another pic where it's the exact same pose (pretty sure this is a mostly static prototype because of this) but on a display stand, and there's another with an exploded look at the articulation (of which there are differences from the prototype, so who knows which will match the final product).

If even "the most popular Pokemon" aren't selling well enough, what makes you think anything else will sell? Pokemon is honestly much better suited for a mid priced product, rather than something like a SHF. the things with Pokemon is that people's favorites are all over the place. Someone willing to buy Charizard premium fig, might give zero fucks about non Gen 1 Pokemon. If you make other gens, the same is true. It's hard to get a consensus pick. I know myself, I would buy a figuarts of Feraligatr. How many other Pokemon fans would? I doubt many.

Random DIY question. But if I wanted to try my hand at painting an epic battle figure Gyarados to make it look shiny, what would be a good way to go about painting it? I was thinking covering anything I wouldn't paint with tape, but not sure what kind of paint would work best. Any thoughts?

Exactly. So while you might be willing to dish out 8000yen for a Feraligatr, not all that many people probably would. But you make a Feraligatr at $20-$30 coming in a bigger assortment and suddenly you get more casual collectors, Pokemon fans, old G/S players who remembered their partner Pokemon, etc, and that price hurdle isn't nearly as high for the folks who may want a toy of Feraligatr, but maybe not at import prices, and it also isn't costing out parents buying for their kids. And the guaranteed assortment means battles can happen between Pokemon, so kids might grab a couple, then they'll have to build out teams, etc.

Honestly, better off practicing on old junky figures before working on one you want to keep. People underestimate how hard it is to paint evenly, cleanly, and have it be durable enough to withstand posing. he cheap paints are those $1 bottles you can find at craft stores. Basically you won't ever get a clean looking coat of paint with any cheap paint you need to brush. Airbrushing is the best way to get professional looking paint jobs but that's a whole other story and skillset.

FigureRealm has many figure painting and customizing tutorials. Give those things a look.

to add to this, try your hand at painting models first, it's s cheaper and less stressful.

skip the paint brushes and go directly to airbrush. You'll waste more money and time going from brush to airbrush (unless its something small that just needs a touch-up).

Probably not a good thing actually. Its inevitable some red paint will bleed into the yellow spots because those will be hard as heck to mask off perfectly. So the yellow will also need to be matched for touch ups.

Ooof, my choice too. You're right though, it would be so difficult to get a consensus on which pokemon to develop that it's no wonder we get the same picks over and over. I do think Nidoking and a few others like Tyranitar and Arcanine are some of the few instant buys that a lot of people have asked for.

No it did say "shining" on them (i think at the time shiny Pokemon still weren't really ever officially referenced, or called "Shiny" pokemon) but yep, they're pretty hard to find. Most collectors if they have them just have pieces or parts. I've seen the ones in original packaging go for crazy amounts.

Those are the 4" Vinyl figures. Wave 2 has Gengar, Eevee, Jigglypuff, and maybe Pikachu. I forgot the lineup. Those were discovered the same time from the same sources as the retailer that uncovered the listings for the 6" articulated line.

This is only partially true. They are on the rarer side but saying they are SUPER RARE is pretty incorrect. Shiny Charizard in particularly is mostly just being artificially inflated by certain collectors within the community. This is all due to the Pokemon bubble, which I really hope pops soon.

Its like the diffrence between 1/4 and 1/3. Or 1/8 vs 1/6.
On paper it might not say much but in use the diffrence is notable. For pokemon toys it doesnt matter as much since they are inconsistent with how big a pokemon is or how its measured.. but it might look very off.
The diffrence can actually be a few CM, and gets more noticable if the pokemon is person height or taller.

Something that is 6 feet tall is 6 inches in 1/12 scale. It would be 7.2 inches in 1/10 scale. That's a pretty noticeable difference.

I kinda feel the same. Starters (mostly Piplup, let's be honest), Garchomp, Lucario, and Leafeon/Glaceon are probably that generation's most popular and marketable. Shinx and Munchlax are probably up there as well.

WCT has already released Piplup a few times, Munchlax many times, Riolu/Lucario and another Lucario in the upcoming 6" line, Leafeon/Glaceon are in the 3" wave due later this year,

I could see Infernape, Emploeon, and a better Garchomp being good candidates for the next 6" articulated waves, and a Weavile for a future 3" figure since Sneasel is already coming this year too. Other than that, I think WCT has already done a pretty good job representing the heavy hitters of the D/P generation.

Yeah, Target is the best bet for finding new Jazwares figures but most are still very difficult to find in stores. That wave hasn't been spotted yet so you probably shouldn't start looking for another few weeks.

Probably the same line then. I had the Gengar, Gastly, Raticate, Wartortle, all Gen 1 starters and a few others that I don't remember. The recent haul was Squirtle, Mew, Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Dragonite, Gyrados, Venusaur, Meowth and one squid dude with a translucent head and a box of mudkip Evo line.
Bit of a boomer so don't know the new gens, only played up till 4th.

Local bookstore in India. They have a toy section but it's typically bootleg or older toys. I didn't even know these figures were still being made by Tomy. Really enjoying the line but I heard it has been discontinued? I'll probably try and collect my favorite mons, the ones I'm really looking for are Magmar, Alakazam, Primeape, Victreebell, Totodile line and Cacturne. Don't really know much about later gens but I might play them again. Could you guys suggest some mons to buy figures of from each Gen after 3.

It definitely hasn't been discontinued, but fewer and fewer stores outside japan have carried them since the end of the 90s, especially in the west. You can see the current line catalogued on the japanese tomy site. Judging by what you found at your store they probably got their stock recently, so it's possible that they'll have more new figures as they release.

They're like the moncolle series, the whole gimmick of scale world is what the name says, pokemon scales. So you'll end up with some really tiny ones like Pidgey or Eevee or some much larger ones like Feraligatr or the legendary dogs

Pic related isn't my collection (i just really liked this setup) and the gyarados isn't part of the scale world line

That price is really low for new moncolles. Ordering from japan, I have to pay anywhere from 6 - 12 USD depending on the figure, plus horrific shipping fees. Your figures don't look like bootlegs either, your store owner might have some hookup that throws them in with something else he carries.

Sadly the toy market is kinda dead. Parents just buy their kids shitty mobile games. I used to spend hours playing with motu, gi joe, kener batman and bootleg Street sharks. We used to hike up this local hill and renact predator with the joes and a cheap venom who'd act as a substitute for predator. Kids these days don't do that
