I got a couple of those marines some years ago from a local toy store that also handled a bunch of old/discontinued klocki. It was a good find back then, but I'm not sure if the rona put them out of business. They didn't seem to have many customers.
I'll have to check someday.

They did that for the Johnny in the TLM dropship and he turned out okay.

The Duck tank looks fun at least. That and the observatory would make the best actual sets. I can see the latter being a perfect City set. The rest are AFOL conversation starter display pieces.

After browsing this thread for a long time it’s really made me contemplate my lego interests and desires. I find myself only even interested anymore in 80s and 90s sets (some early 2000s themes as well) but the more I look at new releases and licensed themes it just doesn’t light that spark the older stuff does. I feel like one of those Pokémon fans who is always ranting about how gen 1 is the best and everything after is uncreative crap

Dad would always play lego with me but would just build ships and vehicles out of any bricks he would grab, and then once he stopped I would fix them up for him and add more features and show him next time we would play, it was nice

Pic related was my first Lego set ever. I think I got it when I was 5 years old. Then for my 9th birthday, my mom spent like 3 hours sorting through my Lego bins to put it back together for me again. Roboforce holds a special place in my heart.

I may have had this specific Primo as a kid, still some of the pieces in the attic.
Also, there are connector pieces that have the bottom like Primo but with Duplo slots, that may be even an even deeper layer, gonna see if I can use in a moc.

Despite being popular with older fans, Monster Fighters flopped

They recycled pretty much all of it with Hidden Side(spooky castle, spooky graveyard, spooky train, spooky lake, spooky laboratory), this time with smartphone integration and it bombed even harder. There is literally no way they are gonna risk it again.

At best you'll get some tiny promo halloween sets and gothic "horror" elements shoehorned into whatever popular cancer oc property they try to shill(chima, nexo, ninjago, monkiekid...).

If you're really really lucky, you'll get another gothic-lite licenseshit like we had Scooby Doo, Batman and Harry Potter.

It's been a minute since I've posted in /lg/ but I wanted to share a WIP I'm working on. It's basically a reimagination of Macy's Drop Bot Dragon, but where the dragon is actually a complete armor akin to Clay's in Tech Wizard Showdown (which was very useful to work on the body).

The dragon mode is a bit fat, but I'm still pretty happy of the result so far. The center of the body will be filled with a structure that can extend a bit to attach to the dragon head in robot mode.

It does but I don't have any, just a couple of the version with Ogel markings, not quite in keeping with the overall look. Had started out with a starship build using that color scheme, the truck, trailer and cargo/passenger pods were pretty much aftherthoughts.

Thanks ! and yeah, I do plan on building it IRL, but not in march since I'm really tight on money. Also The battle suit will have a cape that will turn into a shield and probably a lance to go with an overall dragon joust theme. Both will be stored on the mech's back in robot mode.

The series was inspired by late 1800s early 1900s adventure novels from H. R. Haggard, Conan Doyle, Bram Stoker and so on.
For example The Lost World or Allan Quartermain series. I believe Nepal section of Orient Expedition is particularly inspired by Ayesha - The Return of She which has a whole act about travellers going through ice covered mountains.

The prototype looked like it wasn't dual-molded and was just solid white, so it looked like a dog with a sheet over it and didn't have that "spectral" effect of the fade from opaque white to trans-clear. I get that the final version is more engaging, but I just really liked the classic look of a dog with a physical sheet over it.

I don't mean to assume your nationality, but universities, especially in the US, don't really equip their students for practical application of ideas. And sometimes you just need to see the application of ideas before things become concrete.

Besides, lego doesn't do much with technic. They only make sets of vehicles, so it's a bit more difficult to envision other uses. The factory-like ball machines that one Japanese guy makes is just linkages, cams, and linear motion, but all they said in the class covering those concepts was making paths you want.

They make those sets using as few pieces as possible, a proper tapering of the rear would've tipped them over their quota. They also have this cargo compartment play feature I guess. Honestly it's a great set for very little kids moving from Duplo to Lego, mainly made the comparison cuz a more advanced aircraft will look terrible with such stubby wings.

Speaking of pre-molded planes. This one gotta be my fav. It reminds me these 80s-90s planes with the same layout, it is just bigger but still playable unlike these massive 8 wide jumbo jets.

The main reason trans-red won't work with the scheme is that windscreen on either side of the bridge doesn't come in trans-red and there isn't a ready substitute. I like the overall look, went with lime since I had some of those parts stockpiled from PaB wall visits and those curved fuselage pieces were easy to get.

It's decent for a pre-mold, yeah. I have one or two of those classic jets in a container somewhere, along with a black and white island hopper and other 90s aircraft, was on a kick building them for a while heh.

Speaking of jumbos I've been thinking of building a cargo plane based on this old Creator set. The sticking point is I kind of want to make it large enough to take 6-wide vehicles; got a little fleet of AFVs and it'd be neat to have a heavy lifter for them.

The main take-away from the video was the clever use of magnets on low friction tape to establish contact points and transfer power to the outside of the vessel. And some of the custom wiring for the radio receiver. Neutral buoyancy is knowing the environment.
After that it was troubleshooting the spin on ascent/descent and the problem of getting stuck at the bottom of the pool.

I don't know if books are in order but it really depends on what you want to make.
You don't need mechanical engineer tier knowledge of gears and springs to use the ones lego has.

I guess my line of thinking is, if you know the complex things, it's easier to come up with some easier designs. I'd like to design and build simple machines like that but it's hard for me to come up with designs beyond the simplest ones (way simpler than in the vid).

This new McLaren polybag is one of the most interesting builds I've seen in a while. It's 5 wide rather than 4 wide like the typical 'tiny turbo' builds and they did some nifty ass stuff to pull it off. Pretty good parts pack if you want some corners, snot parts, wedges, and slopes.

Here's an update from yesterday. Mostly finished the bot mode, Macy's little battle suit has a cape which transforms into a shield for the big robot mode The structure around the visor will change to something more pleasing visually, but it's 4AM and I throw the towel.
