Assuming this will even be at all even the slightest bit easy to find, will it actually have "army builder" pricing? This kind of packaging makes it seem that it'll cost more, which makes it less army builder friendly already.

Well it seems like it's just a normal "ultimate" release, but the Twitter calls it perfect for army building so maybe it does have a slightly lower price?

Last I checked, the main guy said the Reaction line can be used to take sneak peeks / hints at what other figures they're making. If so, then consider this figure they just put out a sign you should make space on the shelf for one more foot soldier.

Well for the Mutatin' Foot Soldier they could just cut the gimmick and just do the robot mode.
As for storage shell turtles I think the main thing people want from those are the heads rather than the actual gimmick.

The proportions aren't, though, which is what I think they were talking about. An inaccuracy is still an inaccuracy, and it's far from a minor one. I'm not a hater of the line, though. It's the only figure from the cartoon line that I have any issue with.

So did anyone here "army build" the vintage Foot Soldiers back in the day? I feel like that mostly a mentality most don't have until they're older, or at least in my case, my child brain would think "I already have that toy why would I want two?".
Also, one gripe I have with the Super7 Foot Soldier is that the strap on the grabby arm isn't but enough to sling over their shoulder.

is that the new version? I thought that was gonna be black. This looks like someone has gone in and added a metallic purple coat to the original. hides that kinda funky (But technically screen-accurate) airbrushed-muscles aspect.
also they bent his torso joint back and then photographed him from above, which makes the proportions look a little nicer.

Army building is a concept I wasn’t even familiar with until I became aware of adult collectors. I never would have wanted multiples of the exact same toy as a kid, and even as an adult I don’t know why you’d want more than two of anything

the closest I got to army building was when they were released with a different paint app like the metallic foot soldier. I guess I never thought to waste my "toy of the week/month" whatever on a figure I already had. Of course that didn't stop me from having 40 different raphaels with wacky sculpts I never actually used while playing since it made no sense.

My walmart only got 12 of these. 7 were left when I got there. 2 of them has major paint fuck ups on the shoulders, one on the abs. The other three had slight paint missing on the knees, one on the arm. So I picked the knees

Sometimes I really consider repainting my First Gokin Oraku Saki into 2k3 Shredder. Kinda wish I bought a second when they were on sale to not risk my only copy. Just curious; but why the hell is Nickelodeon diluting the Turtles franchise like they are on the six/seven inch scale? Video Game Turtles, Cartoon toy figures, Movie Turtles, all of which are split among different companies.

Why can't they fucking just give a master license to one simple company? Or do it themselves? Why make it fucking complicated for people who don't want to deal with having to mix and match with different companies to get the core characters (IE the four Turtles, Splinter, April, Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, Casey Jones, and Baxter Stockman)?

Short answer is that Playmates are a nightmare to deal with as they are super vindictive clinging to the license as it's the only thing they have at this point to let them stay in business. And they honestly think Turtles should be 5 inch figures and nothing else.

Long answer is that Nickelodeon has no fucking clue what they are doing with the franchise and while they cucked Playmates with the latest renewal (basically saying that they can no longer veto Turtles in larger scale from being made at other companies). But they also don't know or care about the franchise to the degree that they they are simply licensing different versions/variations of the franchise out to whoever has cash. And the people making the lines, don't know or even care about keeping certain characters evergreen or focusing on the core cast over the extras and third/fourth stringers.

Still haven't found the NECA movie turtles. I give up. There are 5 sets of Shredder/Splinter at my local walmart on clearance for $40 and it's also the only set I can find anywhere. I have devoted a ridiculous amount of energy finding something that will probably break out of the box. Fuck NECA.

I didn't do this with Foot Soldiers, but I did it with Stormtroopers, since Star Wars was the only toy collection I had at that scale, and there were never enough villains. The Turtles could easily face off against Marvel or DC villains.

Also, to add to this, I'm kind of sad he's just listed as an Ultimate and not a two pack since I was hoping he would come with Tatsu. I thought maybe they would have got the likeness issue for him hammered out on the down low and were waiting for the anniversary to announce it, but that was just whimsy on my part so I can't be too beat up about it. But that would have turned a good reveal into a great one.

I just got the weirdest nostalgia, I drew pupils on at least one figure with the blank white eyes, to make him look more like the cartoon, because he was like the first or maybe third figure I had.. can't remember which, all the ones I'm thinking of that I know I had at that age already had pupils (like the Wacky Action ones). definitely couldve been one of the originals, so seeing those designs with pupils is like.. whoa.. i was four once.

So weird how Slice n' Dice Shredder was basically their take at the Mirage design. and I feel like Creepy Crawlin' splinter was also kind of a take on the toon design, but with the toy's weird mispainted nose now as a big actual nose (and a special outfit to suit the theme). i wonder why they never made a 'toon splinter'

I've always been a big fan of this design. The burgundy outfit of the original had Mirage roots and made you feel like yeah this is a guy who would have a gang of teenagers thinking of him as their father.. like it's a bit sinister but also cozy like the head of an organized crime family should be.

To be honest thats the ninja turtles Franchise in general. Like 1/4 of the original comics are good, Really the second, third and fourth volumes are mostly bad, IDW is bloated, the 80s show has a great first season then a couple good moments for the next 10 years in a sea of mediocre cheesiness, the 2k3 series spittles out around season 3, 2012 and Rise have some good moments in a wave of crap. Really we got the 1990 movie as our gold star flawless entry and thats about it.

Since April was brought up, I'm hoping once NECA goes back to making Mirage comics figures, they gave us a casual clothing April of some kind. Nothing wrong with the first appearance figure they made before (other than it being SDCC exclusive), but that wasn't her recurring look in the series.

Personally, as much as I love those "first appearance" Mirage TMNT figures, I hope they go back and give us some TMNT that resemble what they looked like for most of the run of volume 1 beyond the earliest issues. I always preferred the more muscular look with the stapled belts and Leo having those straps for his swords.

Michael Pressman shared that Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird were at the time tricky to work, for example Bebop and Rocksteady were scripted to happen in Secret of the Ooze as well as they were going to be accidentally exposed to a MTV music video like marathon when they were being rapidly mutated into an adult to explain there names and behavior, but Eastman and Laird didn't wan them in it because of licensing issues so we got Tokka and Rahzar.

They also didn't want Shredder super or otherwise, at all, and they fought very hard on that with little to show for it. That bit where his hand was popping up out of the rubble? That was originally planned to be the original ending with the Turtles already gone implying a sequel but there was so much push back they decided "he dead" to appease Eastman and Laird since so much of it was more like the cartoon already (which they hated)

the problem is all the stories conflict and make no sense. If there were licensing issues, they would never have even considered using them in the first place. Though it does make sense, here in the more realistic movie universe, an animal needs to slowly grow and become intelligent, not just instantly have a full vocabulary and dress like weird punks.. so that makes sense.
also they fucking designed the cartoon and the toyline, they had no problem with the kiddy shit being its own thing. in fact they got really prudish after the first movie was popular with kids (go fucking figure) and they were apparently the ones clamoring for no violence.. and didn't want vanilla ice because (correctly) rap is crime-praising garbage, but someone evidently told them it was jim henson's wish and they believed it? The behind the scenes stories don't make any sense.

I bought 4 of the NECA 1990s movie Turtles and have read that NECA is known to break; I collect Lego, so I dont have much knowledge in action figure stuff - should I return these figures, or am I okay to keep them? I dont like shit that'll break on me, and I also don't wanna waste the $140 CAD I spent on them by missing the return window

The 4 I picked up through EB Games have been fine so far. Only issue I had was having to glue Michaelangelo's nunchuk ends back on, but otherwise the movie line has been good for me.

I've had no issues so far with my ten TMNT movie figures. they are made of flexible plastic that has a little give to it. I imagine this kind of plastic would become fucking shrapnel if it gets too cold, and I wouldn't be shocked if that's what happened with some people. Shipping takes a long time especially if you jew out like I always do and get the cheapest, slowest shipping

can't disagree. the 1:4 ones have a little better proportions, but I can't imagine buying those (even though for the size, their price is FANTASTIC). I am really surprised they went with 1:4 over 1:6, which is by far a more popular scale and fits better with a variety of other movie figures, both retro and recent.

The toon line clearly has different issues. Some of it might be QC, some of it might be clumsy or substitute factory workers, and some of it is the simple fact that they have the entire figure painted, even areas that have flexible plastic. And not just a little paint like the movie turtles have to give them spots or gradiated shadows, but thick, opaque paint in an attempt to make them look like the real painted cels from the show.
I imagine nobody played with a painted prototype of rat king, or they would have done something about his thigh area.

I hate the pixel shading the game figures have, but even then, I agree. Game Slash is way better than toon Slash. But I also never liked Slash in the cartoon. My memories of the character were always of how he looked in all other media and merchandise.

I don't think I ever saw the Slash episode in it's entirety as a kid, so game/toy Slash were the only design I was aware of. I should probably pick up game Slash if Super7 isn't doing his figure.

Speaking of Turtle heights, you know what's weird? The bios on the vintage toys listed Leo and Raph as 5'1", Mikey as 5'0" and oddly Donny as 4'0".
Funny since in most media whenever they make the Turtles different heights they make Mikey the shortest and Donny the tallest.
Another weird thing from the bio is that the turtles were all born in different pet shops.

That had to have been a typo. There's no way they meant Donatello to be an entire foot shorter, especially with nothing to reflect such a massive difference in height. They most likely meant for him to be 5'0", same as Michelangelo.
