Funny that when this was released many people hated it for being boring bland trash about "durr hurr they are just regular boring universal monsters inspired. Ugh for fffs im bored of frankenstein/dracula already".
i remember trying to make people like that line but everybody said "EH...PRETTY BASIC..."

It will be more hilarious if after 10 years people will be nostalgic for Hidden Side and it's "unique gimmick that was popular back then oh and that bus reminded me of Fortnite bus i used to play that game a lot as a kid!".

We, boomers, usually used to watch a lot of classic horror movies back in the 80-90s. Dracula, werewolf were pop-culture icons back then.

There are LOTS OF GHOSTS in Hidden Side. cool looking and interesting. And they usually drawn in a style of lego and it's possible for them to exist in lego form.
But there are none of that...what the fuck...

Like monster rats from this set. The rant on front looks like it actually has a figure form.

I thought Hidden Side was one of the coolest recent themes. That is if you remove the bright yellowish green stuff or what it is. The ghost figs are cool, parts are cool, colours are cool. It's just that I usually needed a few parts to smooth the models after removing the apo stuff. And Lego prices plus added investment to make the sets look great is always a turn off.

I think the dragon looks pretty good for a preliminary, probably missing some stuff from the final. rest of the set is indeed a stinker, especially the snakes/eels that just have stupid flippers attached. And the lil sub is a throvaway build like always

I would be somewhat okay with the box format for the "surprise" factor, and only if there was an equal distribution for every minifig. But TLG decided to go with that additional layer of bullshit.

Let's hope this becomes a common practice in other stores.

I especially like how none of them were stolen. Sure, it’ll be far too easy now and kids/scum will probably steal them anyway, but at least the perception this gives off is that these based box cutters have standards. They’re fine paying $5 for a minifig when they have some way of sussing out which one it is.

It’s the packaging that’s the problem, not the product itself.

Unfortunately I won’t be doing this, mostly because I already got my banshee waifig and she’s the most desirable one, but if I see an opened figure I might consider buying it IF I like the character inside.

Teal is a based lego color. I mean, the last time it was in vogue for major sets was around the first wave of Bionicle, right? Twenty years ago.

Castle/Piratefag here. The struggle is real. I get that you can just buy any set and incorporate it into your arsenal, but without dedicated themes or close ones, even the “good” sets are half filled with Zoomer trash I don’t want. I'll never forget the time I went to Toys R Us back around 2006.

Basically these cards released for Yu-Gi-Oh called the Sphinx they looked like half human-beast creatures. I mention this because at the Toys-R-US the card section for these was really close to the Lego section.

As I was making my way over to the Lego section I saw a group of 10 Asian teens/males all huddled together around the cards they didn't really care that I was approaching to look at the lego shelf but they left shortly after and when I went to browse that part all the card packs were torn open and searched. They basically just looted the entire thing in a pack like a bunch of penguins and I cant' believe people here continue to do the same thing but with Lego.

No wonder they always put cameras all over the lego isle and they had to move trading cards to the checkout area. Jesus stop opening up the packaging of products this isn't home depot where you can search boxes to make sure they have the correct contents. These are toys

Nah I dabbled a bit when I was a teenager, but stopped when I realized I was actively contributing to a wasteful system (as stores factor in a certain amount of theft into their budget, which effects employee salary and prices). This is the type of wastefulness and inefficiency I abhor, so that convinced me never to do so again.

nta, but your mistake is thinking they are cheese slopes. The mold injection mark shows you they are 1x2 and that means it'd be incredibly easy to have them connected behind the sign. Which I'm sure they are, because the builder of that model clearly is interested in having all bricks securely connected, otherwise the wooden structure on the right would be built differently.

Old sets were simple so even a kid could have confidence in building something of equal or greater quality.
Nowadays even most adults know they can't hope to make something nearly as good as the Lego designers and don't try and just leave it as is.

it's not about the intent, it's about honesty of form. it's about taking a very limited pool of limited elements and turn it into something special. in the new blacksmith there's far too much abuse of specialized pieces, contrived building techniques, too much color variation, too much of a piece count bump for the sake of a slight diminishing returns boost in more elaborate aesthetics. It looses all the appeal of a symbolic abstraction and may aswell be a traditional scale model, not a lego playset

We're all well aware of the cheese slope and shades of brown vulnerabilities, but has anyone else had this happen? Was fixing up a starship I built a couple years ago and noticed several of the round 1x1 light bley tiles I'd used were cracked. They were brand new from the PaB wall and hadn't been used prior, ended up having to replace several on the build. I know it's just one more example of the deterioration of Lego but to my knowledge these particular pieces hadn't come up as vulnerable before. Pic related, didn't bother replacing these yet.

Forgot to mention the same ship also had various light bley plates and tiles with clips, over half had broke. Starting to feel nervous about checking on my older builds stored away in containers now, seems like every time I do there's broken clips and trans parts; memes aside I wouldn't be surprised if the latter hit a 41% failure rate at some point.

I like it as well, it's fun to watch but the way he delivers the lines can be a bit weird sometimes.
In his 2020 video though he has points where he genuinely has some good comedic delivery.

Thanks Anon, going to go back for the Blacksmith shop in a couple weeks. For whatever reason, I was kind of hesitant on spending the extra 50-60 bucks (after tax). But it does look very comfy.

Why does the 6391 Fx star patroller have 13 arrow tiles when 2-4 could have sufficed.

LEGO classic space sets usually had arrow tiles to show major action features but it was usually just a few and this set was 13 arrows tiles.

I remember the christmas I got this set. I bought it for myself while getting my cousins some toys and target was like "uuhhh..... we're trying ti fullfill you're lego zombie order" and I got my cousins toys no issue, and it took a while but I got this set. It's really neat, then it got retired and became impossible to find. Got several coffin cars to fill out my zombie collection to. Feels nice.

Yeah fair enough. The original plan was to use the same windscreens as in the set but it looked too narrow and doubling them was weird with the side ridges directly over the pilots. Anyone got any ideas for next month's challange? Something specific but customizable like this one?
