Thew's newest video made me realize what the fuck's been missing for the last 5 years or so in Transformers: Generic bot designs that aren't tied down to a previous design from G1/BW/Bayverse/Animated/Whatever and are just doing their own thing. I miss the days when we'd get shit like Wreckage, Landmine, Longarm, Incinerator, Stockade, Dropkick, the Real Gear figs, and those random-ass Energon/Cybertron/Classics repaints like Crankcase, Fracture and Big Daddy. TF lines are so goddamn sterile right now that the only truly original stuff is coming from fucking Bot-Bots

On the subject of fembots, I'm not the greatest drawfag but I'm working on a stupid OC/nameslap Deceptifemme, Wreckloose. Kinda inspired by a mix of the Cybertron figure, the ROTF Speed Star "virtual redeco" of Sideways and also the tennis girl from KLK. She's meant to turn into a sports car of some description, I had a BMW Z3 in mind.

I've done it twice (this one was the practice) and the hardest part is making sure your paint isn't so thin that it pools in the recesses at the helmet's "cheek" guards. If you're able to, I would recommend splitting the head so that you're not risking getting paint on the eyes, but if you have a small enough brush it shouldn't be the biggest worry.

Also, topcoat the face before doing the lips (ideally gloss or semigloss). It'll save you a lot of heartache

Mine's in storage, but from what I remember the the hands are too small for any kind of mod without destroying them. You're better of 3D sprinting new hands that fit over the old one's, the downside is that they'll likely took too big but you'll get what you need.

Not sure how this works but they were saying the battle damage over the purple is printed, not painted, which apparently makes it significantly more difficult to remove without damaging the plastic. The one on his legs looks like the ones that come off easy like in Siege.

found Huffer today. Still on the fence if I'm going to go after Prime, Primal, or dinoMegs. Trying not to go nuts with spending but they do tempt me.

Anyway, this guy is pretty great. My only major gripes are the lack of wrist rotation and the way light scatters inside the orange. The colors go together surprisingly well. If I had just seen the pallet of orange, lavender, periwinkle, grey, silver and a bit of black, I wouldn't expect it to work. Great stability, solid silhouette, poses are full of charm and character. The way the shotgun splits to help form the bed of the truck was a nice surprise. Earthrise and Kingdom have done a lot to change the way I view partsforming.

Wave 2 is more flawed but still pretty neat. Airazor looks nice but her engineering terrifies me. Dinobot looks great in robot mode, but raptor mode is hit and miss. And Ractonite is solid.

It's a big movie for a big toy franchise, he was pretty much forced to use them just to have the brand recognizability.

The deeper problem is that I feel that execs don't understand that the average moviegoer fucking hates the human characters and elements in these movies and just wants to see robots fighting. It's why I'll retain that BW is the only show that hasn't aged, and to a lesser extent the later UT stuff where humans are barely present. If they actually had the various bay movies with robots talking and interacting instead of just Optimus talking to the humans you might have had an interesting cast. Instead we got throwaway lines to show what stereotype characters were supposed to represent and then 2 hours of people that aren't Turtturo talking.

Sari and Miko both had rough starts but two seasons later and they're both fully realized characters that are solid cast members.

I tried to get Legends Trypticon off there a week or two ago. Listed for 8200y which is a fucking steal, got invoiced for the shipping and it was 21,000y. Actually thought it was fake because I couldn't believe that DHL could actually cost that much more than EMS and had to cancel for the first time ever. Really makes me not want to ever order from them until it gets EMS shipping available again. Seems so ridiculous considering the lockdown basically doesn't exist anymore and shipping wasn't fucked until the canal got locked. For the record, EMS to Canada has historically been fairly cheap, same as the cost to America or less considering I'm coastal. DHL shipping costs fucking double or more, it's insane, and it's all that's available from them currently, despite Canada being closer geographically.

Transformers Prime First Edition Starscream

Seems the gods of chance wanted to move as far as possible from Armada chunkitude as fast as possible.

I got this guy after I bought the pink one. I bought the pink one because I thought I had forever missed my chance at this one.

This slender plane mode plays along with Prime Starscream's character so well.
Especially considering the last couple Starscream's before were all so big (Animated, Movie, Cybertron)
This guy was a lot more underhanded than he had been in years.

Transformation is still pretty fun. The use of mass is better than most jetformers. Turning a slender jet into a slender robot isn't something HasTak can pull off every day.

Her wing tabs that plug into her back in robot mode, it's hard to describe but its possible to fold them to the wrong side of the wing and then if you aren't careful fixing them it can break the wing. This was more a case of mine somehow getting messed up as I removed her out of the packaging. Now it's fine since I've figured it out. My other worry is there are two small joints that attach her body to her legs and wings and they are very small. Feel like they could break.

I think the reason why we got so many original bots because the respective media they were promoting didn't have many so it was kind of crazy having a figure that wasn't in the show. It let your imagination kind of run wild. I know it was there just for filler in each line but it really did help it feel more "whole" if you know what I mean

Now that all media involving Transformers follows G1's fundamentally flawed framework and nostalgia pandering it's no surprise that everything we get is all unsurprising generic shit

You're right and I agree for the most part but I find it hard to complain with this recent Beast Wars revival. However, I will sorely miss all my toy only characters. I loved those more than some of the show characters.

Optimus Minor, Sonar, Jawbreaker, Ramulus, Snapper, OG Iguanadon, Bat Prime and Crocodile megs, Razorclaw crab in vhs colours, and goddamn Magnaboss, and Icebird were my favourites and probably more Im forgetting.

But really you're forgetting the fossilizers. Which are a brand new concept, brand new characters and will have new repaints for more OG characters. They're exactly the type of thing I was missing.
