No, since the guy bought 9 i assume he is a scalper. I don't know if he got a huge discount, but this set is one of the worst ones and won't be sought after that much. He should've stacked on the horntail dragon and rise of voldermort sets if he is thinking about reselling.

Egyptfag here, I tried to decode these maps posted in last thread. Actually text on these panels is English writing of Egyptian god's names. This isn't correct Egyptian spelling, just English alphabet translated directly into symbols. It goes like this.

Honestly man the only snot part is the bumper, and admittedly it's well done to be flush like that.

I don't like how tall it is. Compared to the ghost rider, yea, it looks better but it's not ideal imo. It's one plate too high above the fenders.

It's good that you like it tho, I like it too. I just think it can be a little better. If you're gonna build it yourself, what do you think of the color?

I agree. That thing was my wampa, generic snow monster, big furry alien friend on a spaceship... nice custom mold but no printing, just enough to hint at what it is and provide flexability in use with other brick built parts. Nowadays there's too many one off printed specialty parts.

I just have a personal vendetta against the 6x4x3 windshield element... it's too tall for the speed champions scale, even at 8 wide. I wish there was a 6x4x 2,2/3 windshield lol, that would be perfect

Yeah I understand but they put window really low there, like 2 plates below the hood level. Whole roof-rear section is really nice and got that flat muscle style.

Anubis: Asyut, though the valley is likely too.
Thoth: Hermopolis, he was even held as the creator of the world there.
Horus: Close enough to Nekhen I guess, where the first pharaohs arose.

I believe all the Lego IPs are connected, one way or another. Like the 16 realms in Ninjago for example, the realms include Ninjago, Chima, etc. 7 realms are currently unknown, so maybe those could be realms like the Bionicle universe.

Is there anything linking the 90s/00s era themes (the ones that would cross over in things like lego racers and lego island) with the 10s era themes?

Closest I can think of is Lego Universe had Johnny Thunder and also a ninjago world, but it was created before the show so the lore is completely inconsistent with the brand in its current form

Is it me or has Lego been doing product placement in TV and movies lately?
Pic's from a Telenovela we've been watching, though the kid only builds the car and plays with the yellow classic bucket once. The latter one is often out of focus or doesn't have the side with the logo shown.
Then there was a kid playing with what appeared to be the Creator pirate ship in the Grudge (American Version 2020). Though I don't think the set was released by the time they were filming, and there were certainly other parts that weren't part of it. It was still Lego.

same, I just jumped on the thread today to check if someone leaked the instructions for the front. I can't figure it out how they did it.

There are some nice attempts here by some anons like >>8941541 which I would steal for making a display piece, but none would be stable enough for lego to release it as a playset.

Also, my old muscle car moc I did back in highshool was also orange, so I would probably make it in that to remake it with all these new parts. Or in lime, thats also one my favorite colors.

It's alright but has some issues like the kinda flimsy shoulder armor connections via two clips or the same issue with the hip joint design as the Monkey King Warrior Mech where the large Technic click-joints would put some parts under stress due to not fitting right.

What theme/set has Lego done that is based on a pre-existing IP that deals with mature subjects (specifically drugs, violence, and sex).
I've never seen Friends, but I know they constantly talk about sex, then Star Wars has lots of fake drugs and the entire thing is based on war, and of course Overwatch is an FPS where you shoot other people.

The Technic bars of the large clicky joints aren't just slapped onto the joint section of the part but have a slight curve where they go over into it.
The issue is that when you try to put something on top it won't sit flush due to this curve and puts your construction under stress.
The only reasons I can see why this even happened is that just because it worked in LDD and Stud.io the designer yet again didn't give a fuck or that the part was once supposed to be redesigned to allow this connection but they never went through with it.

Pretty sure this is the only way to do it. Unless you build it right side up underneath, in which case you gotta use a bracket and brick modified 1 x 1 with Headlight in order to get the silver part flush with the headlights and bottoms of the side 1x2 tiles.

It is, admittedly, well designed in the front, the front looks really good.

I don't think so yet, it gained the fabled 10K supports the same week LEGO Ideas announced 35 projects that they rejected, but luckily, the metroid one wasn't part of those 35.

I'm not exactly sure how their supported project picking process works, i bet they're going by a seasonal list and are a bit behind of schedule. but that could be wrong.

While Lego Star Wars, Avengers and other licenced themes have been keep failing to deliver for some time, Lego Harry Potter is really making great looking sets. Even as a non Harry Potter fan i'm urged to get some of the new summer wave. I wish the other themes had the same quality.

I just ordered the attack on the burrow and want to get the chamber of secrets from the next wave, but a lot of the sets are kind of lacking.
I think the attaching hogwarts modules are cool, but some of the sets are interesting and some are >>8942878

Do you seriously think that looks shit compared to 8 studs? Lego isn't going to make the perfect replica at the size Speed Champions is in yes. But the cars in real life aren't too wide or too narrow, 6 studs wide is the right size to represent that. 8 studs wide cars look like trucks that have been compressed into a shape of a car, they're too wide and big for what are average sized cars.

I don't think it looks shit... the scales have their benefits and drawbacks. I'm glad LEGO switched halfway through the theme, so we got to see the highlights of both. The GTR and Ferrari, for example, I think look incredible, very wide and flat.

Ideally 7-wide is the best scale imo but that's it's own drama lol

It's different that I generally prefer 6 studs on regular minifig cars, but those don't have a frame of reference. An 1970 Challanger is flat that makes it look wide.

Look at these ratios. The width:height ratio is nearly 3:2, and the width:length ratio is 5:2 meaning, if the lego model is 6 studs wide, it should only be 4 stud high and 15 stud long to be somewhat on-model, compared to the 6 stud height and 18 stud length the 75893 Dodge Charger has.

But regardless of all that, these new 8 stud wide speed champion sets finally had something that bugged me in lego for a long time. More than 1 seat. How does it make sense that most Lego cars are 1 seaters, how wasteful it? I know they don't look good in lego City settings because the roads would need to get wider but still, I think them having only 1 seat really lowers their playability

SpeedChampions are already so out of scale that I don't mind them going 8 wide. 6 wide were already massivve, especially with ridiculously oversized wheels. If 8 wides allows more detail, keeping same shitty scale of wheels then I see no problem.

Lego had used this technique before to add seats to even 6 wide cars, but sometimes don't do it arbitrarily. I guess it does limit you to use a certain windshield and door type, but for normal ass cars it's fine

it depends on the parts. I once ordered just 2-3 clip pieces and it arrived next week. There are 4 factories on 3 continents. (2 in europe, 1 in america and 1 in china). If you order a piece that they don't have locally produced or stored they have to forward your request towards the correct factory

Hello /toy i am looking on for some insider info into lego ( europe )

I am wanting to know how lego distributes their sets and at what price....

What i imagine is that lego keeps some of the sets to sell on lego.com and the rest destributes to verious wholesale sellers who sell to stores that sell eventually to customers...

What is not clear to me is if does lego sell directly to retail sellers....(for example amazon) and skips all the wholesale part...

If i wanted to buy wholesale directly from lego as a retailer could i?
Could i save money buying directly from lego wholesale?
Can a retailer apply to buy wholesale from lego?
Can he choose the sets he wants to buy wholesale or lego send what he wants to the retailer?

Any help is really appreciated if you have some info to share or you know the answer to some of my questions.

Of course, SOOL is a buzzword as well, and its tied to nostalgic style more than technique, so a vintage car vs modern car isn't a good comparison. It also just boils down to personal preference so that moves goalposts more.
I think the city car looks good, much better than usual city fare.

Apparently its the same as baseplates where theyre outsourced and more expensive. Also they're too flimsy. You can bust a hole in them if you push bricks down too hard. Granted, the force is pretty hard, but it's too much for even todays slipping QA standards.
BURPS work well enough for the same thing but I do love the baseplates. I wish a third party made them or somethin.

the thing about the HP sets is that they're still mainly for kids. LEGO tries to pack a bunch of playability into the sets, much to the detriment of the set quality. That's not to say the sets are bad per-se, in fact I think a lot of them are great, but compared to another licensed themes like, say, Star Wars (which LEGO seems to have just realized appeals largely to adult fans) they just seem a bit lacking.

Star wars benefits from being very vehicle focused, and therefore really easy to make into satisfying sets.

I think they're finally figuring out harry potter though with the book vignettes and castle modules. The builds themselves I think hold it back. It feels like the designers just give less of a fuck about them because people will buy harry potter anyway. Maybe that's also the "for kids" sentiment leaking into the design.
Explains why the "expert" level stuff is so lacking. All that comes to mind is the buildable birds/objects and the microscale hogwarts. Would love to see a UCS mos Eisley style set set for the theme. Actually, I just remembered diagon alley, but that thing is ugly as sin. What a waste

In the beginning he explains that the battlepacks will retire and instead we get this shit. The new sets have bad value, mostly because of the overpriced minifigs. At 6:00, he explains that if you buy legos from small shop owners at a discount, they are the ones who give you the discount - TLG is still paid the full price by the small shop owner. So he recommends that if you want to buy stuff, you should buy the smaller 10 € sets from the small shop owners because they will make a profit by a small margin on those. The big sets we should order online at a discount because small shop owners won't make money off those.

From his videos i took this knowledge:

Lego will not sell exclusive sets to you. No matter how well your store is going, no matter how much you know about the product or how many subscriber (in his case, he is the largest Lego channel on german speaking youtube) you have. They will not do this.

You have several options:
A: You can either become a full stockist supplied directly by Lego.
Then you get better prices, but you have to buy what Lego ships to you. (You will end up sitting on piles of bad sets that you have to sell at big discounts to get them out of your shop).
This is what he did in the beginning.
I think in one video he mentioned that they actually tried to make him display sets in a specific way and order and not like he wanted to arrange them in his store himself.

Option B is to only purchase what you actually want. The prices are not as good as in option A, but you will have 100% control of what you get in your store.

Option C is like B, but not buying from Lego directly but via other sales channels. There are large Toy wholesalers, and i think this is how HdS is doing it these days (He still stocks some Lego, among other brands).
In one video he mentioned that he ordered alot of sets from the Netherlands at some point and in general he seems to get supply from various sources, especially since many stores had to close during Corona, so there might have been be many inventories on sale for a discount.

Me too, I think it's because it has more of a Thunderbirds or some old sci-fi feel than capeshit with how down to Earth the heroes feel compared to the kinda zany villains. Like how the drones have what appear to be fancy military uniforms, but with the twist of having half of the uniforms red and half black, rather than how it would be normally like with the British guards who have red coats and black pants.
Plus that there are a lot of things unanswered like what's the deal with the Skeleton drones or why does the Team have colored sleeves.

yes, I'm using the inverted 2x2 and 3x1 tiles, but that's not really the difficult part of the build, the headlights and flush tiles next to the headlights. It's like sandwiching a 1x7 piece between two 1x8 pieces, its hard to find a proper connection

Yes I have scans of the book - where did you find that comic? There's another comic from the World Club Magazine but from what I remember the fossil isn't really the focus of it and is never hinted at being anything else.

very likely. also not to spoonfeed too much, but be careful with the headlight bricks you use, le go doesnt use them in conjunction with eachother very often, keep in mind the sets have to be sturdy and playable

Was actually two of the Creator surf house and barracuda bay so you could almost certainly fit in your desk.

Make a Lego L measuring the dimensions of free space you have and rebuild barracuda bay into that footprint
