Isn't this from orient expedition comic at the end of instructions? Some themes from early 2000s had short comic books. Alpha Team, Adventurers Dino and orient, studio, and probably few more. I think exen star wars with yellow minifigs had comic panels too. Remember one for submarine and one for vaders tie fighter.

Not him but it's from the Lego Magazine. They ran a comic per issue throughout 2003. The ones in the instructions didn't have words so that they could print it for worldwide release.

Which isn't bad, it's condensed pirates which is neat, it's a love letter to pirates sets of the past, but it's just too busy for my eyes. If I liked pirates more maybe I'd be into it.

Just finished building that bad boy. Looks great but I got pretty tired of the technique for the diagonal wall by the end of the build.
The tow truck and garage part of the first floor were highlights though

I don't get why anyone would want this, its not like you couldn't have built this yourself and even the figures are generic enough to make yourself. Pretty pathetic that Lego is making dust collectors now and offloading playability in their children's toys to smart phones. I can't pinpoint the exact year but sometime around 2010 it seems everybody just became paypigs that only display their sets and refuse to MOC anymore. Back in the early 2000s AFOLs were still dropping shitloads of money on Lego but they were actually using it to build. I don't know what caused this shift but with Lego continuing to pander to it I don't see it going away. As for bootlego, 90's low quality stuff seems to have permanently convinced everyone that Lego is better.

i'm always here lol. But i stopped buying lego after spending too much money on it during 2018-early 19.
But im planning to get skeleton Dragon and this plane because it fits to the style of Sky Pirates ninjago (i will do light modding to make it more sky pirate-ish)
PS:
Kind of feel sad - because after i spent TOO MUCH money on klocki and stoped doing that, Hidden Side came out.
im still so mad about it because i need those School and Bus sets so badly but i missed those and dont want to get cursed by Bricklink again

I think just because of the design of the show he might be directed to mostly focus on the positives. Or perhaps any stronger constructive feedback gets cut out of the aired episode, except for when it's given to the team that's been designated a "problem" team for the episode's narrative. Such is reality TV, have to always assume that what we see is just the parts that fit together to form the narrative. You can always tell which teams are going to be top/bottom based on who gets the most airtime, the middle ranked teams get barely any attention.

The mums have very likeable personalities, just super positive and fun people. Given that most if not every team is two random people the producers teamed up, it's nice that they get along like friends rather than coworkers that just tolerate each other - which is how some of the other teams feel.
But even those are still better than the worst of last year, where they had an actual couple that had a really unpleasant "dependent manchild with a womanchild girlfriend who can barely put up with him" dynamic

It's sad, because LEGO was always a kids toy or a suculpture toy for hobbists.

We now have sets with things that are associated with drug abuse, free sex (Beatles), sexual jokes (sitcons, Friends). To me it didn't worth the damage done to the company image. And I'm pretty sure these sets didn't set that good compared to other series they could've released.

Super hero stuff is okay because each series is limited to its universe, comics were always like this. You can choose the flavor of the heroes.

Yeah, the insides are furnished but have some more space inside them than, say, Assembly Square. The bookshop half of the Bookshop is basically a dance hall with bookshelves instead of something to play music. The townhouse half is significantly better w/ furnishings tho

I liked the second floor (vet) the best. The apartment was really basic and the furniture simple. The garage was basically the lift, cash register and some trolleys? They could have put some more effort in it.

The colors weren't ugly as such, but the combination didn't work for me, since it looked like two completely different buildings were smashed together. The diner combined the different color schemes much better.

Classic Space is highly overrated. Its a mixed bag of decent builds and fuck ugly, what-were-they-thinking tier builds, very boring colour wise, the minifigures are plain and not in a good way, and it was mogged by the follow-up themes like Futuron and Blacktron.

The fans are even worse. Borderline insufferable and buy it in an effort to be seen as 'cultured' because they like old Lego. They armybuild spacemen like starfags with stormtroopers and when they makes MOCs most of them inevitably fall into no-fun allowed Neo Classic Space which is so incredibly souless and devoid of creativity.

Low effort post (though I like seeing ppls hauls), but I'm excited, my international order took literally 50 days to arrive and finally got some more baseplates I've been after. They've been super hard to find in USA

I am definitely going to start autistically hoarding raised baseplates, I love them and the fact they seem to trigger people is just sort of a bonus. If you can integrate them well rather than using them as a crutch, I think its cool.

Check out the megablocks one in the middle, it weighs literally 1lb. It was hidden in a 5lb bulk buy at the bottom, half rip off, half actually sort of neat. I'll just display figs on it

Not pictured but I think my next project is going to use the tan sphinx plate to build an adventurers style pyramid on, alongside a tan river plate to make it rectangular. I also want to build an aztec jungle temple on some jungle plates, but I already have too many projects 75% done, I get bored of them and never finish, I have like 5 projects in that state

Kinda unrelated but imagine a Time Cruisers reboot where each set is an ancient ruin that you can quickly rebuild into its original form via modules/hinges/turntables.
You could play into the afol nostalgia factor by using classic themes as sets; an egyptian temple, a castle, a pirate ship, a saloon, and so on.

I think you can manage to make some decent builds without them being massive.
Let's say the big set is a castle, then you have 2 medium sets which could be an egyptian sphinx or temple, and a medium pirate ship, and then 2 small sets which could be the Time Machine itself and maybe something islander/amazon inspired like a Moai or one of those islander stone statues. Doesn't necessarily have to be a callback to a classic set but it would be neat.

The story could be that they're traveling through time to find ancient relics that are only accessible by transforming the set. Throw in a time traveling villain and you're set.

Polybags were generally not really typical in 90s. They became more popular in 2000s.
90s however used to have a lot of tiny boxed sets you'd see in polybag nowdays. Surprisingly, even they had alternate builds.

In case anyone cares, I bought this bad boy for $132 (Retail price in New Zealand is $190). The seller listed it as "sealed with damaged box."

It arrived today, all pieces present, exactly as listed. Are sealed set collectors really this autistic about the condition of their box that they'd sell at a loss of over $50? I feel like I got a very good score.

I've been very cautious about Vidiyo because they come in boxes which unlike bags I can't molest. But over time out of the four figures I have gotten so far, I'd say I'm extremely lucky to get ones I really like. I don't think I plan on getting any more.
