that metroid ideas project should be enough to give TLG that message now that they have the nintendo license.

most of us just want nintendo characters in minifig form (I want pic related as waifigs)

I guess that is fair, I can't stand sorting so it's value goes down significantly for me personally. on top of that there is no knowing how many of those sets are completable with the pieces that are there so it's just bulk at that point.

Thanks. I hear ya, but I rarely ever build in minifig scale, I usually stick to the Tiny Turbos one.
Maybe someone else did build a minifig sized tug already? Make it 10 or 12 wide plus tires and rails, so the bridge can be a bit higher without looking out of scale.

Seen a lot of posts complaining about /lg/ so why not check out /lego/ on anon.cafe?

A photo for what road plates were going to look like has been released, these were made in the late 60s/early 70s but never made it into production. They look neat but the lack of studs limits them.

Chima was a badass theme. I didn't really watch the show beyond the first episode, but that's side stuff anyway. The Lego sets were great. You had fortresses, war machines, various factions, and all kinds of interesting brickbuilt or molded weaponry.

Got all the baseplates I wanted as a kid, I'll never have this much free desk space again

I'm trying to make small footprint (~1-2 baseplate) MOCs from my favorite themes in classic style/parts so they could pass as a set from a glance, or to a casual

Got the Aquanauts done, castle in progress, and am brainstorming for forestmen, but I know it will use the river plate with rope bridges, and new reddish brown tree panels.

Nothing groundbreaking, but after doing SNOT heavy spaceships for the past 10 years, I just want to do some tidy, simple, reclined builds for my limited effort and free time. It also helps I've been putting my old sets together to sell, as they are good inspiration / funding

Chima met expectations. Every theme is designed to last for 3 waves unless they underperforming (in which case they're pulled - see the Pirates and Castle reboots from the 2010s) or if they exceed expectations (in which case they're extended - see Ninjago).

The first wave was creative but the rest were shit, and this isn't just a problem for Chima. Most modern themes seen to have stellar first waves but badly designed second and third waves. Nexo Knights is a prime example of this. Chima's unique aesthetic was soon dropped and the idea to drop the speedorz was a bad decision. The cartoon was ugly and not enough to distance it from the Ninjago cartoon, and from what I hear it was badly written in comparison to the guidebooks and other promotional art released for the theme.

Criticising it for being furshit is a valid criticism. Minifigures in other themes like City are slowly showing less skin and clevage, not to mention cup sizes have been dramatically decreasing across the past decades; fucking Chima not only got sexy outfits but they had big bird tiddies and shit. What the fuck? Why do we get punished for wanting some nice looking female torsos and then bam, there's big rhino, crocodile, lion, spider, wolf and eagle tiddies plastered everywhere. And don't give me that shit about it being for kids because furfags were lapping it up. If I really wanted to drive home my point, I'd post the picture of the Chima inflation MOC from furfanity but I can't justify having that shit on my hard drive even if only for a minute.

It had some nice builds and potential and I won't deny that, but they should be stuck to the concept art a lot more. If they stuckcto the original He-Man and Thundercats mash up they had going on it would've been a far better theme.

It also poops off a mini Aqua dozer from the back (wings fold in to hold it in place).

I never got invested in Chima’s story, but I heard it ended with a finished storyline followed by a zoom out to show that the whole Chima world is just one of a huge number of other worlds. So not really a cliffhanger, but more like a “there’s many more adventures to be had!” sort of ending.

There's also black pins but the friction difference between the two may or may not be a factor to use blue pins for this particular build. It would be a matter of checking out how the assembly, to see if they can be replaced by black pins.

Anyone else noticed the insane spike in price of sh234 Robin? The 1966 standalone Batmobile has driven him through the roof, you could get him for around 10 bucks not too long ago but the cheapest on Bricklink in the USA is $50, same for Ebay. A few international sellers but the supply is draining fast. Not really surprising I guess because the 66 Batmobile begs to have a Robin to feel complete, and Jang and Jang-adjacent channels all complained about the lack of Robin so there's some AFOL FOMO going on.

Did anyone see how they changed the already complicated Bricklink Designer Program to supposedly be able to produce more sets? I read this whole stupid update and it seems like they are just buying time because the some of the cadfags have not been able to move into the test building phase. Here is part of the update on the Bricklink page:

They are suggesting that under the old system, that only 13 of the 26 builds would be made but now 15 will be made. I don't remember understanding there was a limit of 13 before. Also, two more of the submissions got yanked. One presumably for cadfaggotry and another for cutting a deal with bootlego companies on the side. How can these builders be so stupid?

I paid $200 for it, I've seen it go for $500. I saw one sell for $650 in box the other week iirc. One usually pops up on eBay a week and they sell quick. There's only like 3-4 on Bricklink and they're all insanely expensive.

Clone Wars torsos and legs are better because the simplistic style with bold lines is very reminiscent of early Lego torsos. The heads are very ugly though and just doesn't fit well with Lego.

God I hate zoomers. There was a time when uploading images to the 'net had to be under 1mb otherwise you'd be waiting all day and God forbid you tried to load a webpage with a shit ton of images, especially ones above 1mb. E-mailing small images like this was the norm too. Sure you can't zoom in to see LEGO written on the studs, but it's clear enough to see everything in the picture.

But there's something about digging into a muck bucket full of misc stuff to come up with ideas. I find that having 100% of my stuff sorted reduces the creativity unless I'm building something very specific and I know exactly how I want it to look. I made some more custom printed Lego Universe figs using the minifigs.me doodlefig template. Quality is fairly good so far, only issue I've had is that the yellow on the LU textures comes out as orangish, and I can't figure out how to do a shade that blends in with the preexisting Lego. Still, it should be fun to experiment with these more in the future.

Can you give them images with alpha - so for the face textures, instead of needing to sort out the perfect yellow shade for their printer you just give them an image with the black/white face lines and a transparent background?

Nah, the template can't do anything other than white, they have options for them to design torsos and heads (no legs for some reason) from reference images for you, but I haven't ordered any of that. The face part of the template is solid white, and they print exactly what you put on the template with no differences, so it might just put white, but I haven't tried and don't really want to risk it.

But it still looks like you're uploading the image of the filled out template, so there's nothing stopping you from including transparency in an uploaded png file. But I think based on the format they take creative liberties with what you upload, so if you uploaded a face with a white background they'd probably mask out the white and print it on a yellow face. It seems to be intended for kids to draw on an actual printout and there's no way they expect those customers to pick the exact correct yellow for the face

I use partdesigner, basically what I do is assume each stud is 200x200px, and then design a decal for it / resize existing logos etc. If I want a sticker across parts, I don't bother making like 3 separate ones that line up, I just import those all parts in that shape to partdesigner, drop the decal on top of them, and save it as one big custom part (the hood on the trans am for example)

If I was gonna do it super legit, I would use blender, and set up the sticker to be a slightly different reflective texture, give it just a hair of thickness and lighter border round the edge, and maybe some slight bubbles / askewedness. I'm still learning blender, but it's honestly a fuckton of work to make something look marginally more realistic.
