That's where you fucked up. With the appropriate lighting and lens, they should only need cropping or saving to a format for where you're posting them. Maybe set up one color filter but use the same one for everything. If you're constantly fiddling with it then change your camera settings and light setup instead.

Anon, you didn't really let the dweebs at the phone store convince you that it's the same as a real camera and lens? Or worse, believed the retards on /g/? They have a lot of software filters built in to compensate the lens and sensor being trash, so that's likely prompting the need for editing, on top of likely not allowing you to manually set a bunch of settings like white balance or shutter speed/aperture.

But you should also get used to working with what you have before deciding you need to take money out of your Lego budget. Maybe figuring out what the camera is trying to do will help alleviate some of the frustration?

I don't know what your source of frustration is. The details mainly pertain to how light is entering the lens but some common things off the top of my head:
>Colors always seem to be ass
Manually set white balance against a white lego panel temporarily placed in your scene - phone might also be applying a weird filter automatically
>All pictures seem to be washed out
Get your filthy finger grease off the lens. This is also a common problem with phone cameras due to their size.
>Pictures always seem blurry
Shorter shutter time or get a tripod or more light
>Focus is always wrong
You're within the min focus distance of the camera lens

A lot of these things are automagically done by most phones but maybe it has a manual mode.

The original 6285 BSB was $110. Though the 2002 rerelease (unchanged) 10040 was $90, which is $136 today adjusted for inflation. So Lego got cheaper after 1989, but sets have gotten more expensive since 2002 due to the increase in piece count because of the smaller pieces nowadays. But the price per piece has certainly gotten cheaper.

This is sick. Back in the day my most viewed picture was a Halo 3 scarab on mocpages which apparently doesn't exist anymore.

I went to great lengths to make sure the foot structure could contain its weight, it's probably what burnt me out of making mechs for the next decade.

But, is it heresy to glue broken pieces of bricks back-together?
Like if I have a 1x1 round tile that's cracked in half, is it heresy to glue it back together? Or if say I had a couple of c-clips break. Would it be heresy to blue them back-together and then use them as greebling on buildings or whatever?

The tolerances are so low that even a drop of glue will probably crowd the connection. For cheap and plentiful pieces, it's probably best to just replace them.

It's too different from the Adventurers format.
Usually they go to exotic places to retrieve some artifact, and suddenly they're in a secret jungle/island capturing and/or studying dinosaurs with elaborate equipment which implies they were prepared for it.
Orient Expedition is better.
Dino Island should've been its own separate, more fleshed out theme with different characters.

I have been tell on what the audition will be.
They gave you this sphere build, and they ask you to integrate it in a build, and there must be some storytelling. I discarded obvious stuff like stars, planets, sun, in my eyes making just a yellow ball and calling it the sun is not really integrating it, i have my ideas, but what would /lg/ do?

Like this robot boi head for example, in fact i think you could even go further and add the jaw as a separate build. My final idea gets rid of the bottom part of the sphere and is nature related, i won't share tho in case any judge is lurking in here

I came out of my dark age in fall of 2019 and learned of the Adventurers from people soulposting in this thread. Before the coronahoax I acquired every set from Desert, Jungle and Orient Expedition (except for some of the small shitty Desert polybags.) I don't hate it, but I have no interest in Dino Island. I think a lot of people feel the same because I see sets are relatively cheaper than the other subthemes. Like that one anon said, it does not fit with the established realism of the overall theme. Everything else is kino soul, Dino Island is just weird.

Not that anon but I have a tip. I'd recommend purchasing the minifigs and then specialized pieces like tan and/or grey car cabin pieces. Adventurers is really easy to MOC. The biggest hit you might take is from the raised baseplates and some of the extra expensive one off minifigs. Most if which can be worked around.

Prices on certain figures have gone through the roof. Some of the vintage figures I use to collect like Dark Forest and Pirates Armada use to go for $15-20 a piece for the rarer ones and are now all $50+.

The knight with the white plums from Black Knight's Castle I had bought 3 for $28 a piece back in 2019 thinking that was a ton of money and now you can't find one for under $100.

It's gotten to a point where I'm actually considering selling some of the figures I amassed since I have thousands tucked away and they've all grown exponentially in value. I've never sold any before and bought out a bunch of collections years ago on Bricklink for cheap.

I think the sets that made sense to do first were well done, I suspect they were holding some of the better ideas for potential later waves. Now the hobbit sets were poorly done outside of Smaug’s mold and Bag End.

I really feel bad for the guy. He was putting out the best lego YT content bar none with knowledgeable analysis and objectivity. He got dicked over by happenstance when YT got sued for targeting ads at kids and jang's income crapped out. I give him credit for sticking with it. He had to do a ton of work for free while in youtube purgatory and rebuild his channel while turning to patreon to get funded. Now he's at the mercy of big donors that want the livestreams and exclusive content or w/e.

All things considered I understand the hit his content has taken, but it's still there and noticeable. I wish he would go back to pointing out some of the history of pieces and colors and fun details, but lately lego's own decline in quality and overpricing have given him plenty to talk about.

If you find someone better let us know, because my search for other reviewers has made me appreciate him even more and now I get the gnajbricks videos spoofing people that say awesome every other sentence in the fake reviews that are just advertisements.

I don't know who are the people that lego been talking to. But there is a clear track of thought from Lego over the years with the star wars set they are releasing.

Around 2000's you have both the smaller scale set (without figs) that would give you a mini scale vehicle that is accurate enough and cheap.
Then they started to add figures to them such as the "ball" set (plastic planet like ball, a stand, the vehicle and a fig). and that morphed into the current micro fighter which people pretty much used as a way to get rare figures for cheap.

At this point I don't even think it is children/parents buying SW lego anymore. Who the hell can afford getting a yearly $130 set? I would think they would be happy to spend less than $20 to at least 2 vehicles for kids to play with.

It was a hobby that grew into his job, but I can't even imagine how soul crushing it would be to essentially be fired but you can keep doing the work and if you please the internet lego community you can keep getting paid.

I take women back to my place and I have 5 bookshelves of vintage sets displayed in my living room. They always take an interest in it and when my current gf came over the first time, she pointed out several sets she had as a kid.

As long as you have other normie hobbies and display it in such a way that a normal adult would (i.e. not crammed into a single bedroom you sleep in like a kid), people like to look at toys. Especially ones they have some sort of connection to, and most people, boys and girls, played with lego.

The quality of the print is surprisingly good considering how cheap the sets are. The legs on my figs are a bit loose, and I was afraid to crack the torso when I assembled the arms and hands (felt a bit brittle), but there's been no issues so far. The second set in my first post is definately my favourite.

The Assembly Square modular building set has a saxophone, guitars, and a brick-built piano. At least one of the Harry Potter sets had a flute (printed rod). Western sets had bugles. I'm suddenly really glad I never bothered to get into that show. It's always easy to forget when just seeing ads how much drama can be edited in. Honestly realty shows in general seem like a bottomless shithole that just keeps sucking everything in and turning into shit. I only ever watched one season of Big Brother after the pug was introduced and Murder in Small Town X because that was just a murder mystery with contestants.
My biggest fear at this point is if in some bizzare meta circlejerk Lego starts producing sets based on the show. How long before we start seeing submitted ideas for team sets on Lego Ideas?

I once bought a birthday card with it and the lady didn't believe me after she asked if I was going to go home and build it. It was the set I bought to get out of my dark age too. Pic related. I got that and a series 2 cmf. Now I wish I'd have just said yeah. I wasn't there yet though and it felt like a weird thing to go out and buy Lego. It's no problem now, but man, I could've bought another cmf bag.

Much luck is wished for you anon. Its a seller's market. The problem is that even though I think there will be a slight correction sometime soon, the trend is upward, upward, upward. The construction industry is currently going through a major labor shortage and work overflow. Especially in residential. The only things being built regularly and without excessive red tape are commercial and shit apartments. Material costs are also going through the roof. The housing shortage is not going away soon.

I did but I use mainly for my lawn mower and irrigation stuff. Some similar items. It would be a bad place to store lego because it gets dirty easily and it would be uncomfortable to be in for most of the year because there is neither insulation nor temperature control.

Havent played with Lego since I was a kid so I'm still unfamiliar about online pricings of used parts. Would around 400€ be enough to get a massive amount of pieces that meet the general needs of most medium sized mocs? Im not interested in any minifigure whatsoever but besides wanting standard versatile building parts in many colors I would still be interested in certain more specialized pieces like plants, rocks, crystals, chests, joints...

I just wanted having really solid all purpose stock so that I'm not constantly annoyed because I dont have the pieces I needed and being forced to make small orders

Kinda depends. Sometimes you can find parents selling their now grown children's collections for cheap. Typically those type of sales are word of mouth or local listings on whatever marketplace you use. You could purchase an okay bulk collection for that amount on ebay likely. If you want new? You can wait for a summer clearance sale. And buy as many creator or city sets as you can for cheap. Alternatively you can buy some licenseshit for parts and then resell the figures.

If you mean "new" sets I've bought 60266. I haven't built it yet but it seems like it's going to be fun.
As far as "old" sets go I've gotten a huge bulk of old Classic Space stuff (not fully built), Spyrius stuff, Blacktron 2 stuff, M:Tron stuff and oddly enough, UFO and RoboForce.
Oh, and I got the 31115 Space Mining Robot that I converted to this.

Those wheels are actually smaller than the huge ones, the big bois only came in light greys / black / orange, and the orange doesn't look particularly good despite my best efforts.

Still probably possible to do something with the purple though, like a midi version.

I once saw someone on ebay selling the mega core magnetizer with the medium size wheels too, was a really funny photo, hope the buyer knew it wasn't right.

Mid scale can still be fun too, I'm a sucker for any rover with 6 wheels. The blacktron 2 spectral starglider has the same steering and added suspension, but uses the smaller wheels like the dark purple.

Thinking of selling one of my mega cores. None are reasonably priced in the USA it seems. Bet I could get $300 these days.

This is my little build, yeah. I designed it to fold up so it can fit into a ~12x16 area to drive into a bigger carrier.

I had the starglider as a kid and I think it's one of the more underrated classic era space sets. Suspension is very comfy on it. Probably the best design of blacktron 2.

I always wanted the magnetizer as a kid so I overcompensated as an adult and own one with the box, a few in parts, and some mocs based around it. I don't have anything NISB anymore but I do highly value the boxes I have like the magnetizer, blacktron 1 base, etc.

All I do is try to build things that make me feel nostalgic or could be mistaken as a set from X theme by a layperson. I love the soulbuilds. Castle / Aquanaut / Space is my bread and butter, with large portions of baseplates, panels, and burps.

I hear you, it truly is a wonderful set. Has suspension, has an integrated ship, is a nice large rover with steering, really hits a lot of high points.
I don't have the box for the Blacktron 1 base but do have boxed Futuron and Unitron Monorails. I hope to build the Unitron one soon and post it here for you guys.

Yes, exactly this, that is what I go for. I know I've posted this MOC a few times but I feel like it's one of my better examples of trying to use relatively era-correct parts to stay within the theme.

I saw some close-up pictures that turned me off but that was when they were first getting started. Maybe their methods have improved since then. I'll stop blowing them off when I see something interesting. Although from what I understand most of their really interesting prints sell out within a few minutes of being available.

Sometimes it's nice to work within your limitations. I think the best stuff I make is when I don't have an idea ahead of time and haven't hand-picked what I had in my inventory. I'd say get like whatever amount of money you're comfortable paying worth of sets on the market right now, see which ones look like they have the most interesting part selections, and then just go from there and see what you can make. Even themes you don't think you give a shit about can have cool parts.
