Reposting. Sorry if it seems like I'm spamming, but you guys are really the only people I know who gives a shit about Lego (my friends/family don't give a shit about any of my interests). Just pretty excited that I got bit by the MOC bug this week and cranked out like 6 mechs.anyway, I finished the Vidiyo mech (gave her a legit cockpit, made it taller, fixed the feet) had to get very creative to have her fit a small mech without her tail getting in the way. I also reworked the Maroon mech, added some gold pieces, and gave him a samurai hat. Finally, I made a 6th member for my mech team. Used a Ninjago mech as the inspiration for this one. I'll get around to taking a final group picture when I get home later.

Minifig scale =/= Realism you fucking moron. It's a symbolic abstraction.

You know that realistically a Battlecruiser can fit hundreds of Marines and yet you accept this scale. Now if you were to make the Marine ingame as big or bigger than the Battlecruiser(the same way the Blacksmith house does with the Lego Castles) it's gonna feel off, not to mention it being completely impractical and a waste of resources.

If we buy them out, will we get more castle? I wouldn't mind if castle was lumped into creator, at least we would get something new each year, like the mini modular series creator has, they fit perfectly in lined up with city sets.

Sets of bookshelves in my bedroom, where each theme is separated by shelf. I also have room on top of my dresser to put my Ninjago sets, and some screw and bolt boxes to store my Lego dimensions collection and loose minifigures.

The original lego ideas design that got voted past 10k and got approval was also a shipwreck fort that could fit that same description.

Last week Lego Ideas did have an Imperial Fort go into review.

I have two sets that I keep on display at all times: Beatles Yellow Submarine and the Hobbit hole. Only other sets I display are ones that I have bought in the last year. Usually side builds are put in storage and only main builds are displayed. Sets I bought from previous years are typically taken apart, bagged w/ instructions and also put into storage. I've learned to get way pickier about what I buy and something doesn't display well I just won't buy it even if it's a good deal or has exclusive minifigs or whatever. I think I've bought like 4 sets this year total so far.

That's it. I'm not even trying to talk shit, I like the show and I think it's sweet that she cares that much about the contestants but it can come across as like over the top when they don't air anything other than the competition portion. Yes, that is way to much to ask - they stopped making yellow figs for licensed themes decades ago. It'd be thousands of faces / figs.

Now you get to try and find the best fitting unofficial prints for w/e license you want though! Mix and match.

Attempting to reverse engineer MOCs that don't have instructions publicly available is honestly a good exercise in learning building techniques for newer builders. In my personal experience, two of my locomotives come from MOCs. I built this Class 103 after realizing this project wasn't gonna get to 10K using the pics on the project.

they are not traditional themes. classic are just bricks and creator are one ofs. there's a lot more that goes into designing fully fledged theme as it's a far greater investment with far greater risk. if a creator set fails it's not a big deal, the production cost of a single set isn't that much by itself(specially because creator doesn't use any exclusive new molds) and any following products wont have any official ties to the failed product so they are free to try out something completely unrelated.

Lego generally retires sets based on a couple of factors past popularity and sales figures. Bad sales can definitely cut production short, but popular sets can also be retired while maintaining solid numbers. The biggest factor regarding retiring a popular set being parts manufacturing and storage.

The more different parts in different colors a set uses that other sets currently aren't using, the more individualized production and storage space is put into it. Thus making it more expensive to produce. That's what nearly bankrupted lego in the early 2000s, and why so many molds and colors were retired around that time to simplify production.

When they're making a set, they'll make sure their molds and colors for certain pieces will be good a minimum 2 years at an estimated sales figure, past that, it's a wildcard of whether or not things will continue. If a mold wears out or if that set becomes too dependent on specialized pieces not in other sets, it can be retired.

Finally, non-licensed sets are less likely to retire early because they afford Lego more production costs due to being higher profit margin.

So it's really a toss up, I see Barracuda Bay being retired when the next large wave of Ideas sets comes out.

Matchbox just did a huge retro series, completely unannounced, and its selling like hot cakes. It includes retro remakes of old generic playsets and cars as well as a bunch of new stuff. Traditional playsets to, no grand lore filled nonsense with some movie tie in.

People like simple traditional toys. If lego did a real true return to classic space, castle and other simple themes without the grand over reaching lore that's tainted everything these days, it would also sell like crazy. Even if they had to lump the sets in with creator as a test run.

Because most kids don't actually care for brands or licesnes or lore. They just want toys to play with.

Asides from the small gap of time when Beast Machines/RID were airing, G1 has been relevant through The Transformer's entire history as a franchise.

I don't think it will fit because the ruff has an indent on the underside designed to sit directly on the shoulders and the armor is in the way.

I've been building with Lego for about 14 years. It's been difficult. Day after day I see all the amazing things that people build; a Death Star, a Piano, a Skyscraper, a Typewriter. And yet, despite the incessant longing to one day build a set of my own, I just can't figure it out. I've wasted what feels like days slaving away at my desk just TRYING to get the pieces to fit together, but the final build eludes the capabilities of my body. What has caused this? Am I just not good enough? Have I no coordination? Have I no internal drive?

I think the biggest killer for nexo was changing the color schemes. The first season colors were perfectly ballance, then they started fucking with it, and making the badguys grey, if they didn't change the colors, it would have been fine.

Yeah, the Prime Empire sets had some great minifigures. Though I only bought the gamer's market, plenty of figures with a good taste of the theme, and goes pretty well with Ninjago market from the movie.
