Thanks for the advice. I actually tried that, but the connection from the windshield wasn't strong enough and the boobs kept falling off.

I actually figured out a solution, which is basically bigger disks (boobs) and an alternate connection point to have them flip up over the mechs shoulders using 2 wrenches and a reverse hook (probably not the right name) piece. Works very well. Im almost done with the mech, actually.. Just have to find a few more pieces of "hair" for the head, and finalize the feet. The entire thing had to be upscaled quite a bit, so the tiny feel were no longer stable, and the current feet look plain as fuck and make her look like she's wearing cheap boots. Kind of having a creative block on how to design the feet.

It's like you take out of it what you can get.
Sure i'd rather have creative sets cool as a whole we'll stay to remember, but atleast they can have cool builds strewn into them or interesting/usefull pieces by virtue have being Lego.
The set you linked has cool colours and a kind of bionicle robot thing going for it.

It was a CMF so it's not bad, only $5 in the US on bricklink. If you're just interested in the head it's only $2 since they reused it for some other mickey sets like this

Here's a comparison to the older rods I had in their place. They're a bit darker than normal light bluish gray, but from a distance you can barely tell the difference

Appreciate that. Yea. I'm trying to stay away from using Bionicle pieces with her.

Anyway, I found a foot design I liked, and while she's not as posable as I wished she'd be, I'm fairly satisfied for now. I'll probably post another pic of her in a few days when I finish up another Mech. Don't want to spam the thread with more pictures. Thanks for all the advice, anons.

This looks really good. I love how bulky it is, and the feet look great. I'd probably flip the end tail piece to have yellow on top and blue st the bottom to stick with with pattern in the rest of the tail. As for wings. You'll probably be better off using a pre-made cloth wing from a ninjago dragon or something. Maybe you can even fashion your own. I've seen tutorials for it. Brick built plated wings tend to look like shit on bigger dragons like that. Plus, the weight of thr brick built wings would most likely make it sag and not stay in position.

Lego rep was at my local target stocking the new sets today. Grabbed these marvel sets and will probably sell the figures. They only have two of the stunt racers.
Whats weird is I asked the lady if they were stocking the mini Disney Castle and she started telling me how the Haunted House is a disney set.

It's a great build my dude. The clown and the yellow guy with this face and was wonderful too.
(clown hats exist so if this was intentional you could even go all the way, but i like the basic square one perfectly fine as is. I just didn't remember the hat myself and probably mixed a few of the covers in my memory. My mom had a few and I just remembered how much I loved these books. The Lego Freestyle figures are DIRT cheap on bricklink and I love em.)

I dunno how to clip from youtube easily but yeah, I think you're right.

I prefer one larger base / structure compared to a few small ones. The original is still insanely cool, but like you said, with the same parts budget I think they could have come up with a fortress even better than el dorado.

It looks really bad. The level models themselves are ok but so much of the parts being dedicated to a boring cube (that doesn't even appear in mario 64) is a questionable choice at best. A small collection of slightly larger dioramas sold individually, with actual figures would have been a better choice and made more sense. Instead you are just going to see that block sitting on people's shelves.

just deadass capped the new minifig scale Tumbler. I expected it to have cool techniques, but I didn't know it is also a great parts back. It has like a dozen of the parts I need for my mocs. Highly recommend. Also many new molds

Agreed, this is the kind of thing we normally wouldn't get until a movie theme has been mined for half a decade or more, like how it took 20+ years of LEGO Star Wars to get proper Cantina aliens. Props to LEGO for committing to a normal-retail set that's strictly sourced from Batman Begins, which in merchandising terms is usually ignored in favor of TDK stuff since it's more well-known.

By definition, any kid buying this set will not have even been alive when Batman Begins was released. Every Batman set released will be always be some kid's first LEGO Batman, and it's nice to know the Bale Batman will actually fill that role for some once again. To use the term 'soul' a bit differently than it's typically applied in these threads, the Batman Begins batsuit with the bonus demon-head is far more 'soulful' and interesting as a Bat-variant than a lot of the generic gray Batmen from no particular source that get released so often.

I've been outta the lego game but stumbled upon my minifigures I had in a drawer.

I liked to collect the goofier minifigures, so I found the guy in the corn on the cob costume and on a whim I replaced his face with a classic minifigure smile face and like it 1000x more. The classic mini figure face, in my opinion, is just the most endearing face. Everything else has way less charm in comparison. I wish they'd bring back this simplistic face.

I think the classic face is still around in some creator or creative box sets.

Simple designs like that corn on the cob that just use 1 or two colours (especially relatively "classic" colours like yellow and green like you used) get a whole new spunk when you transform them into something that could've existed 40 years ago!

I like love more modern and elaborate prints too though. Using them in harmony is fun. I have one "family" of figures that all have the classic faces. They really are endearing and timeless. I always project them as either productive workerbee types or just quiet and kind. But it all depends on the outfit and situation.
Put them in a silly outfit and they'll only look sillier!

Th way the set is posed. All the little details. They all add to the scenery and are posed well. You could see it as a rather barren shack with random stuff included. But it really does give the feeling of a poor rundown desert shack. The grille bricks show the poverty and state of the place. The windsack and mill both work. The radios can be used for many different purposes and sets. I does a lot with a little and is just begging to get added to any number of other sets of vehicles or houses you might already own.

Like I just saw some store that had 32 Barracuda Bays. First of all that set is still on shelves. But even when it retires, I very much doubt people are gonna rush to buy it off BL.

A lot of big sellers probably do this as standard practice. Buy 200 of all the "Rare" parts and then list them for slightly less than 2x what they cost on b&p. Maybe place a second identical order the following day. Then when the part is no longer available on b&p, they can slowly double their investment.

Bricks and Pieces is the answer for a lot of this. I have 20 Black Falcon knights. I sure as shit didn't buy 10 Blacksmith sets to get them. They cost me a few bucks a figure on Bricks and Pieces. Army = built. Very common to see a Bricklink seller buy dozens/hundreds of a part for pennies on B&P and flip. Licensed parts usually can't be ordered online, but you can call in and place manual orders too - and that's just what's available to consumers. It's been clear for years that certain European sellers in particular have some kind of direct or indirect hookup with LEGO to source their more exclusive inventory.

Now, sealed sets is another question. Your point about 32 Barracuda Bays is valid - that's the sign of a seller with either money to burn or who doesn't know the market. Never invest in a set until it's a few months from retirement. That's typically when you see the deepest sales & discounts as retailers clear out their stock. That's when you buy up a bunch of whatever you're looking to see appreciate, and then within a year or less you can double or triple your spend depending on what you target and when. For example, 80104 Lion Dance was marked down to $63.99 when it retired at the end of 2020, and you could still find it floating around LEGO stores into early January depending on your region. Minimum to get a sealed copy from Bricklink in the USA is $130, and that number only goes up. LEGO investing is heavily underrated, but mostly because people approach it wrong - idiots lining up Day 1 of release to buy whatever new Star Wars UCS is out there. The only reason to do that is for a short-term flip - not my thing, I don't like that angle, but some prefer it - and to sync with valuable promos. For instance, flippers who targeted the Cantina last fall made out very well because the Yoda's Lightsaber promo was essentially a free $100 bonus set, and they could easily resell the Cantina for more than they paid during the holidays due to shortages.

Forgive me if the meaning wasn't clear - the Nolan films have barely been touched in LEGO, you can count on one hand the number of sets we've gotten from them. You could make dozens of sets from the Nolan movies and still have material to spare. Contrasted against something like Harry Potter, where they're at the point where we have more variations of Gryffindor robes in LEGO than actually existed in the films. Batman's Rogues Gallery has most certainly been mined, and mined deep, but his film adaptations are woefully under-depicted disproportionate to their cultural impact. Most millennials and zoomers likely have never touched a Batman comic, but can recite Nolan dialogue by heart. Not saying that that's a good thing, but that's where things are currently. I feel strongly that if you're going to make large, permanent themes of licensed LEGO, you should wield that license effectively and broadly. That's why the 2020 Avengers sets were so disposable - semi-based on a videogame that was dead on arrival - and the Infinity Saga 2021 sets have been such hit. Surprise surprise, people actually enjoy the MCU depictions of characters and want to purchase Iron Monger or the Benatar more than a non-canonical Hulkbuster or Helicarrier rehash.

LEGO Lore

In the theme Building Set with People LEGO Sets
The minifig was used as a child for the maxifigures

Homemaker Figures also known as Maxifigures were the figures used to represent people within various Homemaker sets from 1974 through 1982. They are composed of a head piece and one of several different types of hair pieces, with the rest of the body usually built from basic System bricks.

These figures along with the LEGOLAND Minifigure were first released in 1974 and marked the return of figures to Lego since the HO scale figures released in 1956. After modern Minifigures were introduced in 1978, they would be used together with Homemaker figures to represent a baby or a doll.

These figures would later evolve into a similar Technic figure that made its first appearance in 1986.

Really nice! I hate that I'm such a sucker for Adventurers that I want the Haunted House, even though it doesn't fit the theme at all.
And I love the Studios Frankenstein back there, the highwayman with pumpkin head and the classic witch all the way in the back, really gets me in the mood for spooks!

Bought new small Eternals set - in general a lot of cool parts, singular ball joints, and this new blade-feather thing.

However the original build is somewhat disappointing. The creature has a dummy thick dumpy and enormous feet, which doesn't help much to pose it. The hands are also not that much posable and look weird. The head and wings are cool though.

Here I managed to reconstruct the creature using only the parts from the set but it also looks retarded and even though now it has more posablilty, it's brittle as fuck. But I like the Anubis-like looks so might just add up more meat to make it a somewhat stable figure.

The Eternals sets had a notably tumultuous development cycle - we know specifically that LEGO was delayed in receiving the necessary concept art, as it was the lagtime waiting for the Eternals sauce material that gave the Daily Bugle designer the week off he needed to build and pitch the prototype of the Bugle. We also know the sets have been sitting in their completed form in a warehouse for literally a year+ since they were included in fully rendered, finished form in the January 2021 catalog before being held back to sync with the movie release a full 9 months later - and that in itself was a heavy delay from when they originally would have launched before COVID fucked the timeline. Other little details also show the long development cycle - Ikaris is bizarrely dirty blonde and lacks facial hair, despite being the flagship character in 3 out of 4 sets, and the concept art used on the box itself has the vibe of a pre-production mockup.

All things considered, it's surprising the sets are as robust as they are, especially since Marvel sets are usually minifig packs first and foremost. The two smaller kits are pretty whatever, but even in them I appreciate the commitment to consistency in depicting the Deviants in LEGO form - if you buy the whole wave, you have quite the motley crew of Deviants to do battle with your full Eternals lineup, and if you don't give a shit about them, they're definitely good parts packs that finally break the trend of "set with truck" "set with base" "set with airplane" that dominates superhero LEGO. Arishem demonstrates rare cross-brand appeal even to fans who couldn't give a shit about the weird niches of the MCU, and I respect the Star Dorito for being a pretty damn good value - $90 for 1040 pieces. Hell, it has more interior space than the Light Cruiser over in Star Wars for $70 less. When you look at how much it opens up, that actually looks like a fun toy to interact with.

Just finished the Wrecking Ball rework. Had to change alot, but I loved the overall design and hamster minifig, so I kept that functionality. I really like how it turned out, and it can kinda still turn into a ball.

Here's the finished waifu mech. Changed the foot design to make it more interesting, had to swap the mixel knee joints for stiff bending brackets because they kept buckling under the weight. She's not as posable as before, but she's far from a static brick. I'm pretty happy with how she turned out, and I'm still debating on what kind of weapon I'll give her. Probably a brick build pistol or two. I plan to start working on my steam punk tripod mech next week, so no more image spamming from me for a while.

What do you think? Found a lot with a bunch of mixed parts from the early 2000s, including some basketball bits, tracks from 4588, Knights Kingdom II figures, some early Bionicle, and the box (with allegedly most/all parts) of Isla de Muerta. Not especially into a huge mixed lot but it's also just $15 apparently? I'm a bit torn with the mix of parts, I usually try to stick to full sets.

Every update I like this even more! My thought is an array of blue / yellow wedge plates which can slat together fairly nicely with hinges, but would likely be heavy. You'd have to add extra hinges at the wing base for support (the 1x2 click hinges are available in blue).

I've gotten Lego since I was 4 and I experienced a set having a missing piece ONCE. Between then and last month.
It wouldn't even be a problem if I wasn't afraid of getting blacklisted from B&P or something when I request replacement parts because they can't keep their fucking quality control in shape.

Fuck it, I think I'm just gonna go the easy route and go with a Bagnall/Peckett 0-4-0ST. That way I won't have to worry about trying to figure out how to translate narrow gauge designs to standard lego track and I can have it hang out with my other UK steam. Probably gonna build it in Olive since I've got a lot of cheese slopes from a PAB laying around that I could use for the boiler.

recommended earlier, I'm gonna have to make some Technic wings with some custom cut cloth to keep the weight down, but I think I've about nailed the scale of them in brick for the time being.
I don't own hardly a single damn Technic piece, so that's likely gonna have to take another order...
Also, another picture, even though you can't even see the progress I made filling in her back, just because I thought it was a neat picture without the stand.

If you figure out a good way to make custom cloths, please share. Sails are a weakness of my big pirate ships.

The cloth either has to be hemmed or laser cut to prevent fraying of edges. It get expensive very fast.

I think that LEGO is doing that because it's more about branding and occupying a space so a competitor won't take their place by creating 18yo sets. MegaBloks' Game of Thrones and Alien sets felt very wrong to me but probably sold pretty well enough to allow for the competition take some market share.

So I think they are doing sets about popular series that are light enough for LEGO (no gore or excessive violence) so they occupy this vacuum.

I really wish LEGO didn't do any of the "18yo" sets. None of them, including the sculptures, that art thing (which are just like adult coloring books), architecture, busts, licensed series. They shouldn't even be doing that "luxury" Star Wars sets.

The sculpture/model sets should be playable, like the Speed Champions sets. Keep the "adult stuff" in the Technic side of things.

These adult sets feel so wrong because you always end up associating with politics, real violence, status (luxury items) or sexual topics. It feels like it's "losing" its innocence.

The old Castle, Pirates, UFO, Aquanauts, Elves themes were so great. I really wanted to see them back. I highly doubt these adult sets sell more than these sets. And it's very rare for an adult display a LEGO set like this in public. Do these set really sell that well to justify it? I don't think so, I think it's about branding and protecting themselves from competition.

They're not smooth, can only do 90 degree corners, no roundabouts or rail crossing, bunch of extra useless parts and ramps just to attempt to make shoddy connections, they're almost worse in every way. They might have been okay as an addition to the road system, I'd use them for a back road between buildings or something, but they shouldn't have gotten rid of the baseplate roads entirely.

Yeah, you are right, just remove one of the plates to open the space for the railroad. Ramp and non ramp solutions seems to work very well.

I hope that they release roundbouts in the future. He main problem are the buldings, for everything to fit perfectly they'll need to be adapted to plates. A series of plates like picrel would solve the issue. They'd need to release bigger plates for conveniency though, but considering how modular the new road plates are I highly doubt it. Everything will need to be adapted to these plate pieces. They come in all colors too, it won't be a problem.

If they release long smooth road plates and roundabouts I would be glad with the new system.

So, you gotta starch them. Use a spray starch on just about any fabric before you cut it. It will keep the ends from fraying. That is what Lego did for years and years.

I wanted to work at the lego store at the mall near me. but thanks to niggers who refuse to stop shooting each other while they're there, a bunch of stores have closed, the lego store being one of them. so now I lost the only lego store in my entire state. however my wife and I have been talking about moving to Colorado and they have multiple lego stores! and they have two bricks & minifigs locations! so maybe in like a year when my wifes job contract is up we can move out of this hellhole of a state, and maybe I can land a job at one of those places, I think that'd be kinda neat.

Sure, yeah. Seems similar to Barracuda Bay in terms of overall structure, but I feel that Apocalypseburg does more with its space and it's more easily displayable from any angle. The chaotic, scrap-welded architecture is portrayed really well, I'd love to get one and turn it into a proper fortress someday.

Got this set for $60 with it only missing Iron Spider and the black webbing parts. Finally got around to building it and it is a lot of fun. I like how bulky the legs are, and even the feet seem huge with the back claws on it. It all leads it it being very easy to balance pose even though the ankle and hip joints have limited movement. Body opening up to stash a minifigure he has eaten is genius. The tongue movement is smartly done as well. The whole dude is very clever. My only complaint would be with such a big head/body/legs/feet it makes his arms seem ridiculously small, but that might be the point. I don't care for the car, will let the kids build that one later.

Makes me want to MOC the Jurassic Park mecha dinosaur for a super hero to use and fight him.

i like the new stuntz sets but i really can't find a reason to buy them
i'm not a child so i would get bored of playing with the bikes after a few minutes and they're not that interesting as a display piece, unless you're going for a stunt show display i guess

Investing in lego is a shit idea but this is a set retiring this year that isn't super popular but is based on a Disneyland ride and has exclusive minifigs. I sorted my old legos and im rebuilding some of my sets that i intend to give to my kids. I also buy sets, build them and then take them apart and store them for my future kids. In 2 days im getting barracuda bay for that reason.

Honestly, it's not a fantastic set. It was an expensive thing based on a movie that wasn't as appreciated as its prequel, and adding three DC characters feels wrong (especially because people were done with batwankery).

Honestly I'd prefer a reimagining of the Cafe Corner than a straight up rerelease, it's a great set but it's definitely showing its age in terms of piece usage. For example the 1 x 2 x 3 panels used for the windows could easily be replaced with pic related and the build would be a lot better with just that much of a change. The completely empty interior also a bit of a drag too.

Most houses are just squares with some decorative attachments like shutters. The example set you posted is more european in style, due to the brickwork, roof cap, and fenced front yard. Front yards in 'murica are naked and siding for the most part is all vinyl that mimics slat boards, and garages don't tend to be detached.

Im running low on pieces, the lower body attachment is oddly specific at 8 tiles tall, and the entire head/shoulder arrangement needs to rest both on the back of and atop of the cockpit, via 2 balls
its a mess and i would like some tips on fixing it besides give up
