Mutran already had a mind for WHAT gears they wanted turning in Mata Nui by mixing stuff into chemicals. Tren Krom provided the how because he recognized they as being entry level in world building so he gave them schematics.

Lariska didn't even know HOW only the WHY of Mutran (and makuta) turning something in Mata Nui. Tren Krom was freaking out because he equated the state of the mechanism as fucked when they couldn't even come up with the bare minimum of knowledge over the HOW or WHAT of turning Mata Nui's gears and so equated what they did of "fighting" and crashing MN as monkey's bashing a typewriter.

Are Nuparu Mahri shields supposed to crack? One of mine cracked back in 2008 and I always thought it was because I was putting weight on it. Then I found recently the other shield cracked too. Plus I see a lot of mocs with cracks in the same area.

Unfortunately yes. I was always super careful towards mine as a kid, yet one day a few years ago i took a look at it and saw those hairline cracks. It's just the way the piece was designed, it happens by itself. Fucking sucks. Hoping to maybe 3D print and paint a replacement whenever that becomes possible...

maybe a weird choice, but I really fucking love Antroz. the Jutlin is just so cool looking, and I really like his stature and (admittedly very boring) colour scheme. my revamp of him is one of my favourite things to play around with.

Matoro Mahri has an amazing silhouette, I love his body proportions. Sorta reminds me of the vibe the og Toa Mata gave, in the sense that they're both anorexic alien-lookin freaks, yet they're actually the heroes of the story and not the villains. I love that shit.

I found seven unnamed Le-Matorans in MNOG.
First two on the image were gukko pilots so those were probably either Shu, Taiki or Boreas.
Orkahm was also mentioned under name Orkan in MNOG II as gukko pilot so he might be one of those matorans too.
Only Ahkmou from metru matoran had kept his old kanohi so orkahm could use different one on mata nui.

By the time they changed out Brown for another color, Bionicle's sales were waining from before. Hewkii's yellow wasn't selling as much as the other colors - but better than Brown had been at least. But considering the 'brown' slot was made Orange, then light yellow in 08, then tan then back to dark yellow in 09, perhaps it wasn't as much of a desirable boost in sales as Lego had expected.

G2 used Burnt Orange in place of brown, likely to try and appease G1 fans for returning to something closer to Pohatu's original colour (as the change to Orange was panned by fans in 08) while also being a bit brighter to catch the attention of new kids. But even that wasn't consistent, Uniter Pohatu's main color might as well've been Dark Tan instead.

Not the most elegant way to do things, but it was good enough to take a picture. For easy posing and maybe taking the figure outside I'd build a better attachment and implement a switch.

overall I find it sad that lego later started to make sets less colorful and just plasted gray or black on everything as secondary color
I assume they did it because they wanted to make production cheaper, probably also the reason why they stopped making colored collectibles and reused same parts in later sets like metru kanohi on voya matorans

I like a lot of the ideas here. I think the important thing would be to focus on a smaller, diverse roster for a start like most new fighting games do, ensuring each character can fit a certain playstyle. Certain things like rahi might be fun but I don't think they'd be good fits.
Some recommendations:
>Choose only a Nuva or a Mistika, not both
>Use a Toa in an Exo-Toa as a tank
>Size differences aside, titans should have a greater presence in a roster

Based opinion. If only inika builds would have survived until 2011. We would had crazy Bota Magna dinosaurs. Saying that, I enjoyed 2009. the Lego Club game at the beginning of the year was kino, It had all the recolors I wanted, even if to this day my autism doesn't let me use glatorian helmets for kanohi. It was hype watching Mata-Nui come back agaisnt Teridax keikaku. My only gripe was the fuck ugly design choices for Tuma waist, the horrible Baranus design and colors and the lack of inspiration for the pilots of the vehicles. And of course, recycling the Axalara red panels for Skopio. All of it was better than AIDS Vultraz and lel bluish grey splashed everywhere across canisters sets. I seriously wonder what the fuck do the set designers think when they do their job, HF only made things worse. In Ninjago bigger sets they seem to give a fuck. But with Bionicle they always seemed to scratch the bottom of the barrel.

Ok, so I want to get my hands on some Manas, but these prices just aren't making any sense to me. The Bricklink prices even used are absolutely insane. I figured it must be the unique controller and receiver base parts that must be driving up the price of the set, but when I looked at those specific parts they were dirt cheap. As far as I'm aware the rest of the set aside from the kanohi is just standard technic parts which shouldn't be expensive at all. So what gives? Why the hell are the sets so expensive but the parts so cheap?

fellas I need some advice.
I just snagged a mostly complete Maxilos & Spinax online for dirt cheap, prolly from someone who didn't know what he's worth, but I also already have a mostly complete Maxilos myself, along with like, an extra limb - I'm planning to swap a couple very few parts to actually complete my figure and then sell the mostly-complete duplicate.

Spent the better part of my free time this week sorting through the greater part of a lot I bought, got most everything Bionicle rebuilt. A few missing and broken parts here and there, but not too bad overall.
No idea why there were a few duplicates like this. Weirder still are half the parts for a second Skull Warrior, plus a single arm from a Vorox. Go figure.
Pohatu Uniter is way cooler than I originally gave credit for before. And Grievous is yet another rare example of CCBS used to its full potential. Only wish there had been an Umarak or Master Gali in here, but ah well.

Anyone else really like the Vahki? I know people find them generic and underwhelming builds, but I dunno, I like what they were going for (spindly insect-like robots), and man the colors are fucking spot-on. The Vahki have some of the best color palettes when it comes to Bionicle's horde villains, right next to the Bohrok (helps that many of them share color schemes anyways lmao). My favorites are the Rorzakh (Onu), Keerakh (Ko), and Nuurakh (Ta).
Sidenote but whoever made the edgy Vahki and the gold/purple Bohrok in these threads is based, those look awesome.

I think they're unpopular because they were the villain wave immediately after the Rahkshi, mostly because they had fewer versatile pieces. The spider mode is a neat feature and Bordakh blades are notable for being reused in tons of later sets, all in different ways.

I personally always really loved the Vahki and found their whole thing of being these big-brother look entities of enforcing the law in Metru Nui as a black-shirt kinda force super cool
the only problem I have is just how similar some are to others and how I feel like there should be more armor, flexibility, and extra color to them
personally always been a huge fan of Bordakh's color scheme though and I love Keerakh and Zadakh's weapons
I think the models are super cool, I just wish there was a bit of mix between the design we got in the toys and the movies like this doodle

The only thing that lets them stand out is their spider walk mode but that ain't much either.

I don't hate them but without their lore backing them up I can see why a kid would rather buy the toa instead. Even their can design is boring desu.

YES. They lack some unique features. Thus, I modified the two I own.
Red one is sort of a Heavy Enforcer,that can easily tank damage and possesses some real retard strength.
Brownie is something of a Damage Dealer, whose arms were specifically moded to tame larger targets and deal more damage to those resisting.
Yeah, he has the wrong blade, but I have no relevant pics atm.

I like the style, one of my favorite grunt sets, which sucks since I don't own one.

Ok this might be a stupid thing to bring up, but I finished the book Rendezvous with Rama and there's a part describing the things that inhabit the planet the book is named after and I realized something; this sounds an awful lot like Bionicle.
I never heard any interviews and the creators of the series saying they've read the book but it's a weird coincidence that Rama has biomechanical beings inside an oddly shaped station/world where each one has a purpose and are made from an alien liquid.
Am I the only dumbass to see this or has someone else here read this book too? Seriously this was like 28 years before Bionicle and it really wouldn't surprise me if this was one of the things to help influence a little of the whole biomechanical beings acting like crew inside a giant star traveling ship.

They did that all the time though. We never knew most of the baddies and side characters before they were introduced to the story. At the core though it's still elemental robot-men fighting to survive in cool tribes and villages.

I just got this set and thought it was cool that it uses the Mistika wing pieces in black, and then I checked Bricklink and saw that it's actually been in a ton of sets since 2008 in lots of different colors. Does anyone know any other pieces that originated with Bionicle and are still used frequently in sets? It's pretty nice to see Bionicle still having an impact many years later.

I dare anybody to make a Toa Dume moc who doesn't have black as part of his color scheme. I know it's what we all associate with his character, and it DOES look sick as fuck, but canonically (yes I'm one of those) the black was just to denote his mask as a noble mask in Metru Nui, like how all the Metru Matoran had silver to denote their masks as powerless. The silver/black paint is literally only a Metru Nui thing as it comes off over time, according to why none of the Mata Nui lads have any.

Please fucking help me.
Back in 2009 I went to Toys R Us with my best friend to get the new Vastus Bionicle because we couldn’t find it anywhere else. We both got one and when we got home to put them together mine had snake-head tips on the end of his mask while my friend had the normal spikes. Me being a fucking retard swapped them and I can’t find any evidence that the snake tipped mask exists. No one believes me, has anyone ever seen this?

I’m serious, I can remember what it looked like perfectly. Smooth snake heads instead of the spikes with indented eyes. Not sure if the middle spike was a snake instead but the outer two definitely were. I have been trying to find a version of this for years. I have considered buying sealed Vastuses to see if I can find the mask. It was second grade, so I am no longer in contact with that old friend and I’m sure he’s let the dog eat it by now, but I swear on everything I have that there was a variant mask. Ok, but they do work like an inmune cell or at least as a normal drug be it an antiviral/antibiotic/antitumor
Vaccines do not remove a disease or its symptoms they are a "fake" infection to make those inmune cells work out so their next contact with the actual virus is faster and better.
