Think they'll still print the older figs? Never did get Viper, Beachhead and CI Trooper. Not American so can't order em from Target.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9406268 The Roboskull's a more exciting item in my opinion. It hasn't been made since the 80's, and was a European exclusive, and would have made for a better Haslab.
There's a number of pros and cons with the Skystriker-
Pros:
>It might be bigger than the original >Has ejector seats with parachutes >A few updated features >Some blast effects >Some extra stickers >A flight stand >An extra figure >Possibly a few additional figures and ground gear if backer goals are reached(I'm skeptical they'll hit them.) Con:
>We've had it before multiple times in both the vintage line and modern era. >When we did get it like 6 years ago it came with a 4 modern era figures, and a Hisstank, all for $80 total. So, now we're paying over $230 plus tax and shipping >Deliberately made not to work with modern era figures. >It should have painted on decals instead of stickers like the fan club vehicles did. >The backer goals are very bland and uninteresting. >You can also buy Joe flight stands on ebay right now >You can also buy similar custom stickers on reprolabels right now. As is, the Skystriker's funding is already slowed since last night. It hit 3,000 and hasn't gotten more than a few hundred today, and possibly might not hit 4,000 until late tomorrow.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9406399 Adding to this, this was from the last time we got the Skystriker. This was one hell of a deal, although a lot of Joe fans at the time bad mouthed it, because they didn't want to pay around $80 for the set. Think about all the stuff this set came with and toy prices; this was a fantastic set. I ended up army building these sets, building up my hisstanks and selling off a few of the Skystrikers to people.

Anyone here back the Skystriker? Not me, because it uses the outdated o-ring engineering. I really hate paying for shit that i don't like. Big GI Joe collector here, btw. Bought up multiples of Skystriker box sets from the 50th line. So i own two of the SDCC version and the normal box set you could find at TRU. Did the same shit for the Desert box set too.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9406467 He was the hot figure in that set, because even though he was a repaint he was a new character, and he was based on a dead Joe fan who used to report on news and history of the toyline named Gary Goggles.
>>9406486 Same boat. I was kinda almost offended by the Haslab, because I feel it's clueless as to the wants of the Joe communty, sort of like maybe it's the same people who worked on the Retro line popping out the Skystriker. You know what I mean, some of those lazy figures that really missed the mark, like the Retro Duke that was just a repaint of the 25th version? The team who did 50th was better at mostly figuring out what lazy repaints worked.
I just have no interest in a Skystriker that only works with O-ring, particularly when I can already buy one whenever I want on ebay right now. I also bought a bunch of the 50th line, and have several of the Silent Strike and Desert Duel sets. It immediately kills my interest if you're forcing an O-ring only vehicle on me, and this is from a guy who owns O-ring and several vintage vehicles. It's just dumb to saddle the line like that, and seats to fit your modern era figures aren't even offered in the backer goals, instead it's just more O-ring figures, and not even good ones.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
This is everything that comes with the Haslab Skystriker. They display all the missiles to make it look like it comes with a lot more than the vintage version but it really doesn't. It is indeed a new sculpt, I'll give it that. It also comes with a flight stand and some small runway vehicles and blast effects. They also made it so it can now have it's wheels down and it's wings either opened or closed at the same time instead of stuck on the same gimmick.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9406510 The jet itself might not even be that much bigger, if it even is than the original.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9406514 The two figures and the little runway vehicles that it comes with. I feel like this stuff is just trying really hard to appeal to fans of the first two waves of ARAH. You know, the mostly boring early stuff like the original 13.

The first backer goal is this lazy Scarlett figure, which only gets added if it hits 13,000, which I'm kinda doubtful it will it. None of the figure is new parts and all happens to be made from existing molds they have for repops, so it's the same man faced Scarlett with a large bobble head, but on Ace's body. You could make this figure right now with a screwdriver and an Ace and Scarlett figure.

I pretty much gave up on vintage when the 25th line came out and have a couple thousand of 25th+ figures, plus whatever odd 1:18 line that has come out since then.
I really dislike 3.75 and find it hard to buy anything in that scale anymore. 4", or real 1:18, is all i collect now and that's why i'm not going to bother with the Skystriker. So even if i bought just for the jet itself (i've bought expensive shit all the time just for acccessories, like Mezco figures) and ditched the 3.75", it'll be shit if the cockpit is too small for a modern scale figure.

Speaking of there's a guy on Hisstank claiming to have some insider info, saying that there's 30+ figures planned for Classified in 2022, and that Hasbro's just trickling them out at each event they do. I was reading this in the Action Force thread where people were discussing how Bobby Vala had to eat his own words after shit talking Classified and then getting BTFO over the reveals at Pulscon. He said that about a year ago now, and it takes over a year to make a figure, so don't be surprised if he shows up in 2022.
https://toynewsi.com/9-37592 A number of Bobby's figures are redundant now since he's so behind on what Hasbro's making, such as his NOT-Firefly and his weapons add-ons when Hasbro is making regular weapons as well, and so many other people are also making 1:12 Joe weapons and making them right now. By the time he gets anything out it will be pointless. He's too busy doing shit like basing figures off of Youtubers like Analog Toys, who he made a figure of because he sucks Bobby's balls. Bobby also claims he could make better and cheaper toy vehicles than any other toy maker if he wanted to and that they'd be the best vehicles ever and very cheap and how he's the smartest guy in the toy industry, despite that he's not even making any vehicles yet and not put out any figures.

When the backstory was released there was a bunch of drama about it on Hisstank and Bobby had to change it.
The only reason to even get into Action Force initially was because Classified had yet to be revealed and was doing a very similar derivative type 1:12 scale military figure. >>9406510 "HasLab Skystriker" sounds like it'd be an easy slam dunk and yet there's enough that just doesn't interest me that I really doubt I'll shell up for one (nevermind Hasbro's dream of everyone making an air field of the things). Between the sudden nostalgia push for "here's toys that look like they were time displaced from 40 years ago, right down to mushy sculpts", to being weirdly coy with the dimensions of the thing.. it just doesn't excite me. And I want to be excited, the Tomcat and by extension the Skystriker are just beautiful aircraft that hit the 80s nostalgia muscle just right... but all this does is feel like another instance where Hasbro has no idea how to make GI Joe anything BUT a relic of the 80s.
Crimson Commander !!uoqqXVkn8aK
>>9406798 My problem is, it seems like a Modern Era vehicle, but they're trying to force so much early ARAH shit onto it, and it doesn't seat Modern Era figures. I don't care about the runway vehicles, they're also there to justify the price point. I don't care about any of the figures it comes with, nor the backer figures. This feels like nostalgia wank for people who only like Joes from the first two years of the line and nothing else.
There are so many more exciting vehicles to make and even playsets. It feels like a very phoned in Haslab that doesn't really know it's audience. This is aimed at a small number of vocal old men on message boards. For fuck sake I would have been more excited to see a Modern Era Dragonfly with a two seater cockpit and fired missiles with a new Wild Bill figure. I have a chapmei "NOT-Dragonfly" and it's excellent.

There's a rumor that he's considering suing the Roboskull kickstarter people, because he wants to make Red Shadows and thinks he owns them, even though he doesn't and wasn't able to copyright the name, and Hasbro actually owns them. >>9407585 Tiger Force Outback is a very sought after vintage figure because he was a European exclusive repaint done for the repaint line Hasbro produced called Tiger Force. Under the "Tiger Force" branding, Hasbro would re-release a number of in demand retired Joe figures as stylish repaints with tiger striped uniforms.
They also gave them a repaint line of Cobras to fight which were made up of retired and desirable Cobra figures in order to give kids a second chance to get those figures. These included characters such as the Cobra Trooper, the Cobra Viper, and the Crimson Guard, who all were featured in the cartoons, but were retired figures. These repaints were called "Python Patrol," and much like Tiger Force had a unique in story repaint deco.
But getting back to Outback, as part of his "Tiger Force" outfit, instead of just having tiger stripes, they replaced the words on his t-shirt with a tiger's face, and he was the only Joe to have that out of all the Tiger Force figures. As a result, Outback because a popular rare repaint like Pimp Daddy Destro.
Pic related is the assortment of European exclusive Tiger Force figures, which featured Outback. In recent years the in story explanation for his look was that he had been bitten by zombies while working for Eco Force and had to be given an experimental antidote for the Compound Z Cobra produced, which created their Toxo Zombies and Zombie Vipers. The antidote changed Outback's hair color from red to white, and he then joined the Tiger Force team. So this guy also battles zombies.

He still hasn't put out anything and may not get anything out until after March if he misses the Chinese New Year deadline.

There was also Duke's death in the original cut, which was censored out by Hasbro due to backlash over Optimus Prime's death, and they censored Globulus getting stabbed in the eye at the end of the movie, which has a jump cut due to the missing animation for being too gory. They dubbed in some audio in which it says Duke falls into a coma, and then at the end of the movie dubbed in some audio saying he came out of his coma, because they didn't have the time or money to reanimate things, but the rest of the audio clearly implies Duke is supposed to be dead.
It's weird how hard it is to get model sheets of Zarana from the show and movie. I know for a fact there's more sheets of her and they showed off the topless ones at a convention, but never an official release in any form. I have this one of her wearing the wig, and that's it for the movie. And her Sunbow model sheets are extremely inconsistent and there's only a few available. Bobby Vala the guy behind the line insists they're leaving the factory this month, after that it's a few months to get into hands and he swears it'll be before Christmas, but some people are saying realistically, it might not show up until after March, because Chinese businesses pretty much shutdown for a month during the winter for Chinese New Year. It could still be months before these figures arrive. He also had an excuse before, saying how the figures almost left the factory, but that they caught a problem at the last moment with the hips and had to remake all the figures.
He doesn't like to give updates either, but he loves to shit talk Super7, accusing Brian Flynn of not updating people on his toys enough, and calls his company "Subpar7."
>I'm reading that the guy in charge is just basically full of shit and another unhinged retard 100%. He was fired from Hasbro and likes to emphasize his Hasbro experience and say how he knows more than other small toy companies running kickstarters, but he absolutely does not.
>Has even a single figure from the line released yet? Zero. Meanwhile Super7 and Hasbro keep cranking out new figures. He must have been pissed that Brian Flynn announced the Ultimates line, since it's yet another 1:12 scale Joe line.
Anonymous
>>9408276 >announced the Ultimates line, since it's yet another 1:12 scale Joe line. He probably was upset about it, but Ultimates is much closer to a 1/10 line than it is a 1/12 line. They call their figures out specifically as 7".
Also Vala's an idiot, but he does send out updates semi regularly. He probably just hit snags he wasn't expecting and trying not to bring attention to them, so his updates just say things like "it's going well, not much to talk about".
Also he's an articulation junkie (like most of us are) which is probably one of the main reasons he doesn't like Super7, between their high prices and limited (albeit mostly functional) articulation. I'm just guessing, never heard any of his podcasts or whatever.

Out of curiosity, anybody think Classified may finally give us that Roddy Piper Iron Grenadier? Brian Flynn said he was going to try and make a hooded Cobra Commander one day, and that he would have included one with Ultimate Cobra Commander if not for the ban.

>>9408810 Spirit is a GI Joe tracker and a stereotypical Native American cliche; though later versions have downplayed the stereotype angle
Outback is a survivalist trainer/tracker. The figure is based on the hard to find European exclusive Tiger Force version, which for reasons never quite explained, made him a grey haired elderly guy instead of a ginger.
Croc Master is a former pro-wrestler/ex-con turned security system guy who lived in florida and tried to sell crocodiles as a security system for rich people. He failed miserably but somehow managed to attract the attention of Cobra so they hired him to put the moats and sewers in Cobra Island full of crocodiles. Larry Hama hated the character, so much so that he made him one of the Cobra guys killed when Cobra Commander came back and buried a bunch of people alive. IDW retconned him into being a skinny as fuck eco-terrorist recruited by Cobra.

Geiger snake men, who have been secretly funding Cobra. In the DIC cartoon, it retconned this by saying that Cobra Commander was never a snake man, but he did get turned into one. Once he's restored to human, he puts on his Battle Armor suit and it's never addressed again.
They also censored the death of Duke in the movie.
I don't really recommend the DIC seasons, since a lot of the original people who worked on the Sunbow seasons and movie were uninvolved. The writing, pacing, and acting are a bit off in that one and it feels aimed at an even younger audience. I do recommend the G.I. Joe Extreme cartoon, but Extreme rarely gets any toys made for it.
