Best town era for sure. The 4 wides have the perfect combo of cute, compact, and detailed.

I'm honestly tempted to buy a couple of the Venetian houses to make a Roman Fort. If a person were to just buy the pieces off Bricklink, it would cost like 3-4x the price.

I originally bought a couple of the castle in the forest sets to bust down into a moc, but that may be heresy since they didn't make enough of them to meet demand.

Are most people here yellow purists with their MOCs or not care about throwing in the dumb licensed skin colored figures? They kinda annoy me but my choices are limited and I don't spend much aside for bargain bin online auctions.

That's what I mostly did too but female faces are hard to come by in random auctions, need to find a good bulk of those. Especially since half of them have glasses and I'm doing a medieva/weeb thing (because fucking ninjago everywhere and I had a lot of OG ninja castle stuff).

Bought this book because Green Lantern is dope and I am still mad the movie ruined all marketability of the series. Back to work on my Trico MOC (from the video game The Last Guardian). So far I’ve got the skeleton for some brand new legs (with those heavy ratchet joints instead of hero factory bones) and I finally found a foot/claw design I’m happy with.

That's probably it. I bought 5 of the castle in the forest to bust down and make a medieval keep since it was under 10 cents a piece.

But I reckon a bunch of resellers were waiting to see if anyone would "take off" and then put in a max order for resale. So the boat and castle both had exponential momentum that way.

Yeah, on the first round I put an order in and it showed up as a pending transaction but then got cancelled. Lego charges the card to make sure it's correct, but doesn't finalize it until the ship date. Meaning you're not out anything in the intermittent.

I'm thinking about buying many small sets with good price increase potential instead of a few big ones like barracuda. For example iron man's hall of armor, unopened boxes of the marvel minifig series, bo katans ship, mandalorian armourer. Barracuda is already ~100 dollars more than its lowest price while those sets are retiring this year or next year and are at their cheapest now.

I plan on giving it waist rotation, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Other than that, I don't think it needs much more modding because the build itself is already really impressive for a standard Lego release. I opened 5955 a couple of years back because it was one of my favourite childhood sets and I wanted to play with it again. No regrets. Just keep the box and instructions/catalogues and keep it in good condition. There's no point in having unopened sets if you don't open them.

This is my first time checking this board out.
Do most people prefer to build original stuff with their legos, or do you prefer building what comes with the set and then having it on display or whatever?
When I played with lego as a kid I mostly tried to make original stuff.

Seems like a nice hobby even for an adult, shame I'm a neet with little to no spending money.

Mocs are preferred but a lot of people just buy and post sets they've gotten.
My thing is I like taking stock sets and then modifying them, especially with sets that were middling for bad in some way. It's pretty satisfying.

I got back into klocki semi recently and have enjoyed both buying vintage sets I never owned and making mocs of different styles. Luckily for you as a poorfag you can use a program like stud.io to design your models and only buy the parts you need as opposed to parting out sets/buying bulk. Or you can just appreciate the design on your computer till you have the money to buy the model.

I mostly like building my own stuff, since my preferred themes have mostly old sets and rarely ever new ones that fit.
I love having a gazillion parts to get creative with. Of course it took me many years to aquire all my parts. However keeping most of my System builds funsize means they're still relatively cheap. If you don't wanna invest in a truckload of parts first, you can build with stud.io first, then order parts.

I'm already happy if I can find an hour or so to build without being interrupted for the most inane bs or having my mood ruined, and the amount of unopened boxes just get bigger with every whimsical purchase or set release. At this point it feels like the act of buying something new and shiny is more satisfying than the prospect of yet another ruined building session.

I get what you mean. It's hard to go on for hours without being interruptet by bad thoughts or unpleasant feelings even once. For me personally it helps building at my desk and having youtube or music on, while my phone is somewhere else.

Buying separate parts ends up being 2-3 times more expensive. You're better buying these sets and breaking them down into something new.
