After nada for OP toys, things are finally coming around

The Imagination Works Luffy shown last November has now been radically updated, soft goods shirt and jacket. This Onigashima/ep1000 push is great.

We also got 2 Variable Action Heroes releases on the SJ calendar, no dates.

Its in reference to Wano names, so really it could be Onigashima repaints, or totally new figures.

Oh damn, the line lives. That's cool, I guess. These figures are too expensive to just get the same looks over and over. A Yamato would be nice (though she obviously wouldn't be to scale), an Oden, Roger, Killer, Kid, etc.

It's strange how they don't seem to have faith in an SHF or what have you line doing well, yet they make figures in these more expensive lines.

Here I am surprised they haven't gotten a model kit or Shodo. Shodo scale really seems like the best opportunity for scale among the characters as well as some of the larger accessories.

It looks to be the same size as the dbz figures but they ditched the rubber (I think?). They did the thing with Vegeta where his clothes cover the elbow joint so it feels more seamless.

1/9 scale. I had the Goku, it sucked ass but I thought it scaled well enough with my VAH and my Storm Collectibles. I think it will be a good fit.

I've got a decent amount of VAH so whatever it takes, he's gonna work. The VAH TS Luffy is just so fuck ugly

I was using the Shanks jacket on this Luffy, it works fine and dandy for standing. I just couldn't get it to work for the Ep1000 pose. So I think the SoC General Franky ties it all together. Can't wait for this Luffy, I deseratley want VAH repaints for a raid Zoro and Sanji.

Thanks. When it comes to OP I'm only gonna settle for the best, so I've been highly critical of the lines up until now.

This luffy looks like it goes some of the way, but I need to see it in some revo tier poses before I know whether its good enough.

This line is kinda eh. They're a bit shorter than the VAH so you can't really put any obscure characters they happen to make with the VAH. The first wave was pretty cheap looking. Though if they did Brook it might work as even a cheaper toy of him will probably do the trick for a skeleton.

I'm just sticking with the Anime Heroes line because at least they have decent articulation as well as aesthetics. I don't wanna pay an arm and a leg for a statue-esque figure with shit articulation. If Anime Heroes releases Trafalgar Law, Doflamingo and Yamato, that's all I need after Wave 1 and Wave 2.

I saw on Instamashii (the Tamashii Nations Instagram) an anon who reported that both his Goku and Vegeta Imagination Works had plenty of QCs. Can anyone confirm me this? I would love this Luffy, but I am very suspicious about it.

Imagination Works doesn't seem to be a line that will make lots of One Piece characters. Heck, they will make the most popular. There isn't a continuitiy: they released the duo from Dragon Ball, then they plan to release Seiya and Luffy. For me it seems that they are releasing Bandai most famous characters.
And it's 1/9. Guess I will pass. I was looking for a huge line of One Piece, and I don't like too much VAH.

Pic not mine but the material for the arms on Goku don't last very long. I can't tell from the op image if the Luffy is going to be rubber arms or regular plastic with the sleeves covering the joints. People also reported the legs snapping.

you could also collect world collectibles. They are kinda cool and cover many many arcs and characters. I stopped after wholecake island, but the wano ones like great.

VAH is probably your best bet. Lines keep doing the same few characters then disappear. With VAH at least you already have a bunch of them made even if some are a bit expensive at this point.
