What is the best Iron Giant figure? I've seen Riobot, Mondo, Diamond Select, and a couple of others as current options.

I have Riobot and he's fun, but can't really do objective comparison since's I haven't even seen the rest.

The Mondo one is apparently over 12 inches tall, and the Diamond Select ones are 6 inches or so

Haven't broken anything personally, but it has good chunk of diecast in it if that means anything. One part I could see breaking is the Superman emblem since it just clips into the chest piece with small plastic clip. Also I actually went and took a look at mine, and honestly the spare heads (at least on mine) suck. They have eyelids molded onto them but not painted so they're not visible, and if you don't want the giant S, he doesn't really come with many accessories.

Can't complain about upper body movement too much. Everything has a good uninhibited range.
If I were to ask for more it would be deeper elbows and being able to look farther down. Butterfly shoulder might be nice but I don't know how you'd make them work with his design.

All the knuckles in the fingers bend so that's cool. He doesn't make a super convincing fist but the Giant's hands were always somewhat bony looking so that may be a tall order.

Right his mid section is ball jointed too for ab crunches and leaning

The bottom half isn't quite as well articulated. The hips only have ball joints so outward motion is severely limited.
No thigh swivels either, though he does have a swivel below the knee for some reason.
Knees bend as much as the elbows, 90 degrees in both directions.
Ankles rock and there is a bit of a toe joint. No ankle tilt though so that's a major bummer.

The ball joint for the head is actually the light bulb for the light up eyes.
So that's clever I guess.
Gives him a bit of a Terror of MechaGodzilla look.

I've got the DST one coming in soon. So frustrating that he was originally going to have articulated fingers. Idk who makes the decisions at DST to remove articulation, whether it be the Giant's fingers, the double elbows from most of the LotR figures, but they're really hindering the company's growth to the more avid collector who want those sorts of things.

Hogarth is alright 'certainly that his eyes aren't painted on very straight

I've had it since release and it's held up just fine. The eyes are solid yellow stickers which sucks. It's definitely more articulated than the Mondo, has a pull out torso joint, elbows and a collapsing part of the leg. Mondo seems to have a better head, and 10/10 accesorries where Riobot is 4/10 for accessories.

I got the Diamond Select because it is cheap
they did a good job hiding the screws
little magnet on the shoulder for Hogarth is a nice touch
light up eyes are cool but his head lights up a little (I think the plastic is too thin)
no finger joints but has swappable hands
I still love my ds ig but if I had the money Mondo
I think Mondo used the movie CG model for the toy

I got the DST and I love it. Iron Giant is my favorite movie of all time so being able to get a good representation of him in plastic form without spending a lot of money was nice. What this >>9542782 anon said about the light shining through the head is accurate though. I popped it off and painted the inside of the head matte black to stop the light coming through and it looks a lot better now. If you're on a budget I think it's a great option.
