I don't know. Wreck-Gar is insanely fun, but I've had no real thoughts about "oh man this guy would be really better if he had a motorcycle". Only guy I put on him was Hot Rod (must try Rodimus soon..) and again, somehow Wreck-Gar looks fine without a rider. Shitpiece looks REALLY nice, and his arms- I'm appreciating that his arms have shields so his wheels don't have to be. But do I really need two Junkions? I don't want to end up getting two of each like that one anon's evil plan.

Would it be worth pursuing all the SG exclusives?

Already have Megs and Jetfire in my posession. Figured Blurr, Goldbug and Scream would be neat, although they're more repaints and retools. Plus price on Pulse is a bit much for single figs.

£30 each for Blurr and Goldbug, £37 for Scream.

Well you've got two characters that are fairly connected to him already and personally I find himk better that the other options, Goldbug would be fine, but the Blurr mold is a sore spot for me (though I like the new SG head)

Is the SG Optimus/Ratchet two pack a option? Worth considering if you go completionist mode as they'll just become more expensive with time.

I was about to ask who they've repainted from other crossover moulds but I'm now realizing JP93 is the only actually unique one. Makes me wonder if he's actually a cancelled or reworked version of a different G1 character, because there's no way that they thought they could do a 100% fresh tooling for a crossover on a movie that barely has any nostalgia left.

Yes that is Studio Series Jetfire, what they made X-Spanse from. It's why X-Spanse has a weird mostly nonfunctional ab-joint, because it actually serves a function with Jetfire, but is just floppy and useless for him.

My dad was super into collecting diecast and toy cars when I was a kid,. Every time we'd go to TRU, he would take the excuse to buy himself some johnny lightnings or hot wheels on top of whatever TF he'd buy for me. Bought a bunch of Attack Pack toys for his own collection and then realized he didn't actually care so they just ended up becoming monsters for me to play with. These fuckers were awesome.

The wing engineering is fine, and scaling down the wings and head to make it more reasonable, sure. but the legs should be formed from the underbody area, arms should be from the ptero legs, and the tail is supposed to be the chest. that is SO EASY to do, and would resemble the show model (a bit) and the toy (a lot more) but they chose not to. What's more, he has a spindly ptero neck when the show had this big thick almost cobra-ass neck.. the parts to make that would have been helpful in filling out the robot mode. maybe they could be part of the legs.

Got my Shattered Glass Jetfire the other day, but didn't have time to get any pics until now. I know not everyone's crazy about Shattered Glass, but since I missed out on Siege Jetfire (and literally every other version of the character in existence - this is my first), this was my best shot at getting him; fortunately for those who don't care for SG, he uses the same colors as the Henkei 'Dark Skyfire' repaint, which I've been told was retconned to represent Jetfire when he was still aligned with the Decepticons, so you can easily ignore his alternate universe backstory if you want. Like the Siege release, he comes decked out with a bunch of goodies - a dual blaster that can split into two separate guns, two twin wrist-mounted cannons, two missiles that plug into his wingtips in bot mode, two more blasters that plug into his purple backpack, a big armored chestplate that opens up and reveals a battle mask for him, and two blue three-part blast effects (which both came slightly warped for me, sadly). He also has a comic that I won't read yet because my SG Starscream STILL hasn't shown up with issue 3 yet. Haven't read issue 4, either, even though I got SG Goldbug ages ago.

First of all, this guy is HUGE (I had to build up my box backdrop just for him). I knew he was big from pics of his Siege version, but I wasn't expecting him to be as tall as Skylynx is long. Fairly easy for him to bully other 'bots. I've decided to keep his armor and mask on, since his normal unmasked face looks too 'heroic' for this supposedly evil variaton of the character. Looking it up, it seems the mask and armor are a throwback to his original toy's appearance, which was literally just a rebranded VF-1S Super Valkyrie from the Macross franchise (and the subsequent modification to the design and face were for trademark issues).
Jetfire's pretty poseable - hip swivel, ankle tilts, wrist rotation, and his head is even on a little hinge that lets him look up or down (and he'll liekly be spending a lot of time looking down, since he towers over everyoneelse). His hands have a neat little feature where the peghole for holding his guns is on a loop; opening his hands causes the loops to retract backwards into his wrist, letting him have unobstructed palms for holding things or posing.

Vehicle mode manages to stay about as long as he was tall despite his legs folding up, thanks to his long nosecone; his wingspan is almost just as long, meaning he takes up a lot of space in this mode. This mode looks about as aerodynamic as a brick, but it still is pretty fun to heft around. He's got fold-out landing gear and a bunch of 5mm 'handles' that pop out under him for otehr bots to hold on to, letting him airlift his allies to the battlefield. His wings have flaps that work as poseable ailerons, and his weapons can all merge into a drone unit of sorts that, in turn, can mount onto his backpack.

His cockpit actually opens up, too - but you have to bend his nosecone down first. Inside is this weird mechanical block that has a peg hole in it; not sure what it's significance is, but once it's out, it leaves a space large enough to fit a Headmaster/Titanmaster/Primemaster, as demonstrated by Cogman here (the only Headmaster I own. I've mentioned my dislike for the concept of Headmasters before). The top of his backpack opens up (right behind the green canopy) to reveal a pair of sockets that perfectly fit two more in folded up configuration, meaning he can hold a total of three little companions at once. Also forgot - the purple Autobot insignia actually rotates around to reveal a red Decepticon one, so you can have him change factions on the fly.

Bit of a bonus pic - ages ago, someone posted a pic of Sixgun, who was apparently designed to be compatible with Jetfire's undercarriage. My own Sixgun slots into the two peg holes easily, so that still works (even though his colors don't match the SG version). He fits into the space pretty neatly, so it seems to have indeed been intentional.

It's odd, I actually enjoy that he mostly just wears parts of jetfire, but what pisses me off is the toy doesn't take advantage of that, insisting on a more traditional transformers combiner.. but still trying to look approximately like what they had in the movie? But no, I've legitimately had minor difficulties trying to fit it in, they're sliiiightly different widths, as are the spaces for the arms and legs. A handy way to remember is

I thought I was going crazy or had a QC error something, didn't see many people note this. Will it cause problems if you switch the wheels, I dunno, but I wouldn't risk.

Also be careful when pulling out his windshield from his back, that's a bit terrifying.

Transformers Thrilling 30s Cosmos w/ Payload

The second 21st century try at Cosmos I believe
Lines up pretty perfectly with current Core class as far as mass goes.

Ya gotta love this doofy little UFO. It's just so good. What an inspired choice for an alt mode.
Good work Hasbro of the 80s.
I'll say it up top that I think this is the stronger of his two modes.

Being green gets Cosmos into a more exclusive group as far as G1 Autobots go. He sticks out from his majority red, white, and blue brethren.
Paint work is basic but also more varied than I'd've thought. Yellow stripes in front and boosters in the back. Grey for the guns. Silver headlights, a different yellow for the window borders and an off-blue for the windows.
With a red button on top.

Paylod is just a chubby little shuttle with no way to attach to Cosmos in alt mode.

Cosmos transformations are always unorthodox but straightforward.

And Cosmos is a neat little green man. Somewhat stylized proportions with large limbs and small torso. His big fists are like twice the size of his head.
I have to say it because it's always the first thing I see when I look at him; Cosmos's paint is on the sloppy side.
Specifically the green bleeds through a lot on his shoulders. Also the blue visor doesn't fill the creases on his yellow face.

The paint on Payload's wee head ain't great either. Helmet isn't totally red and the blue isn't pushes to the creases here either.

Thank you - he looks nice! Actually, they all do. I'm not too up to speed on the Japanese stuff yet, but I'll certainly give it a closer look - I liked Ultra Magnus' armor combining gimmick, so seeing there's other bots that do something similar seems like fun.

Hard to say, really. I've always been more of an animal fan (especially dragons and dinosaurs) over humanoid robots, so a robot-dragon that turns into a space shuttle and splits into a giant lynx and a wyvern/'dino-bird' (and an additional base mode!) is totally my type. He's just got so much character and playability. Still, Jetfire's proving to be just as fun - I love his size, all of his weapons and armor bits are great, he's got built-in interactivity with other characters (his Titanmaster slots, his handholds for characters to hang off of his alt mode, the deliberate slot in his underside for Sixgun), and the stupidly-simple-yet-satisfying faction swap gimmick all give him a very high spot on my personal rankings. So I guess it boils down to personal preference in the end.

Like all good micromasters Payload is actually a targetmaster. And turns into this little double barreled blaster.

Cosmos can bust a bit of a move. Given his size he's mostly ball joints.
In the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.
With a swively head and a swively waist. That's a nice surprise.
I didn't mention before but his UFO boosters and tailfin fold onto his back like a little jetpack.
Someone at HasTak had some fun designing this guy.

An OK figure, but I'm a bit biased since mine has a loose ankle joint and can't stand up for shit.

Armordillo doesn't suck, it's mostly that the other flipformers are better. The term least good is probably more appropriate rather than worst. We often forget just how great of a line Beast Wars was to have as few actually shit toys as it did. (Retrax is really the main one that comes to mind and even he's fun in Beast and ball modes, there may be some other bad ones from the final year, I'm missing most of them)

Steeljaw may be a furry, but Troy Baker’s performance is too good to pass up.

Thunderhoof is the GOAT. A mob boss voiced by Frank Stallone, goes from tractor to satyr with that big rack of horns, quite amicable for a Decepticon, the whole nine yards. Definitely deserves a Legacy voyager figure to really do him justice.

nah, when I meant "armored Prime", I mean a regular Prime that combines with armor to get bigger, technically a super mode, whether from his trailer or another bot. Primal Prime, as a toy, doesn't need to combine with anything. One other Prime I am thinking about getting is Powermaster Prime, which technically is different than Super Ginrai

I've had it for almost a six years now (was my first credit card at 19) and all I do is use it at Target to get the 5% off and then pay it off every month. I get not liking the idea but this isn't like a Walgreens exclusive where you be safer ordering from Pulse than trying to get it from them. This makes me glad, if Blaster was behind some company card or club signup nonsense, I'd be pissed. Since he'll be on actual store shelves there's a decent chance I'll get one, which I'm excited for. I never had G1 Blaster but as a kid I got to play with a neighbor's sometimes and loved the boombox bot.
Do we think they'll do a cassetticon 2pack thing like they did with Soundwave? I want Eject, Rewind and Steeljaw, preferably not looking like rock candy.

We used to have Shopko, Kmart and Walmart as the big stores to buy toys from, then the older stores died out and got replaced by a Meijers, leaving it and Walmart as the only survivors. I don't know why we need both desu, they're like the same store.

I think it sort of sticks out on the figure so there's always been some fudging to justify it as a helmet. Of course now it's just so iconic that you can't deviate from it if you're doing a G1 Megs. RiD, Armada, and Cybertron were pretty good at just doing their own thing for Megatron's head.

Well, speak of the devil! Literally just mentioned that SG Starscream was still MIA, and he just showed up on my doorstep as I got home! Not going to review him though - already did the Siege Seeker mold (and the only new thing about him is his sword, which splits into two swords for his original Botcon look), plus I've already spammed the thread in less than 12 hours. It's the predominant white with red accents - looks a lot like an ambulance, and is more or less the universal color scheme for anything related to First Aid (the white is to convey the notion of 'sanitation', while the red represents blood, if anyone was wondering what the symbolism behind that specific color choice was for the medical field). It fits SG Starscream because unlike his normal universe counterparts, his Shattered Glass version is still a scientist/doctor, not a soldier.

The Kingdom mold only looks good, it sadly suffers from a number of problems, from parts not having enough clearance, clear plastic flexing too much (this will break it) and the legs not having anything to keep them in place. The red and blue plastic used also stresses easily, it's avoidable but it's something to take note.

I don't know if you fully understand, so I'll say this.

It's not a 3p Ginrai Compatible with Godbomber, it's a 3p Ginrai that replaces the cab with a accurate core robot that transforms into the cab. Without that, I can't really see it as a true Super mode. I feel like their should be a distinction between Armored and Super mode.

Do you understand how Ginrai is supposed to work? The cab transforms into a robot. That robot can combine with the trailer to form a larger robot. Then that larger robot can combine with Godbomber to form the biggest robot.
The TR/LG mold lacks the basic cab-to-robot form, as they stuck the cab permanently to the trailer in some insane decision. PC-16 simply provides that basic robot that you can use in place of the cab Super Ginrai normally comes with. The original cab is only attached by a single small screw, so it can easily be removed.

What would the point be? Most of the figures were pretty good. There's not much a new version could do to improve them. Hell, In the early days of CHUG, they were repainting Cybertron molds and slot them in. Armada is the one that needs new figures.

Go with Medical Seeker. I'd go with Decepticon Jetfire for SG Jetfire. I think SG is fine when it comes to stuff like SG Megatron, Prime, Grimlock, Goldbug(but his personality of a short guy boss is fucking stupid, although this is really only a thing with IDW SG), and Soundwave, but whenever I see someone repurpose a figure as SG it makes me so fucking mad. Oh how you miss the point anon. I'd so it's only a 2-3 year period where one version of a figure makes another obsolete. When you're buying 20+ year old toys, you do it because you appreciate its place in history with its unique engineering and design language of the time.

I own the T30 Nightbird, and I can tell you the WfC Arcee is a huge step backwards - the T30 makes an attempt at an actual transformation and accomplishes it without any partsforming. Got to wonder what the hell they were on when they made her Earthrise figure, or when they rereleased that same shitty figure a second time for Kingdom. They had very little that they needed to improve, but they decided to reinvent the wheel - and failed at it horribly.

Transformation sucks bigtime and the aesthetics don't match the OG cartoon or the Netflix show. The leg transformation is the single most unintuitive cumbersome least fun transforming experience in recent memory. Unfortunately she came from BBTS and I'm in NZ, so that'd be kind of tricky. I've got a second Rhinox coming from there as well now after I found him locally and grabbed him not knowing how garbage he was. I should probably have store credited him for a second Cyclonus or something before shipping out, at least that could have gone under a charity Christmas tree and made a child happy. I can't bring myself to do that with a Rhinox because few children deserve the pure agony that are those legs.
