I didn’t know what to use as the thread image so I chose the perfect finish Starscream’s fucking hilarious frown. Despite that, a lot else has happened, seeing as we got the art for haslab star sabre and it’s revealed a new fan first Friday is happening on the 5th. I will never understand why people suck the dick of the Siege mould. ER isn't good, but the Siege mould has it's own severe shellforming problem, if you can even call it that, and greebling so bad that it doesn't fit in any shelf with any figures other than half of the wave it released with. Like we shit our collective pants over incredibly bad jetformers where there's just a folded up robot hanging off the bottom, and the Siege Seeker mould has that plus the entire fucking chest and fake cockpit hanging off the back, pretending to be some kinda shitty boosters.

Same, but I only got one version of it to make a custom because like >>9592314 said, it poses really well.
Both are shit but at least Siege has a good robot mode going for it, though I do like the Earthrise jet mode.

I skip everything that doesn't look definitive, so not really. I never bought the original Gen Seeker mould, skipped the WfC/FoC one (whichever it was), got the Siege mould and realized it was shit, so skipped the rest. Only got the 3 ER Seekers because it was the first time in god knows how long it was actually reasonable to get all 3, and I knew they were the best we were getting for decades. Only thing I've ever replaced outright is old childhood era stuff that broke or that I lost parts.

Thing is, the only thing that the Siege has over it, is butterflies, a waist, wrists and deeper knees. That comes at the cost of looking fucking awful, and while I can enjoy the better joints, there's gotta be some middle ground between looks and function with this stuff.

I tend to buy one or two versions. I only got one Classics Starsream, the MP Thundercracker, then bought a set of Siege Seekers. I only buy more than one version for certain characters or if the second toy does something the first one doesn't (CW Magnus vs Siege Magnus).

The 3p stuff existed to fill gaps way back when and now they've been consistently better than official MPs for a near identical or sometimes cheaper price point. Always assumed the divide and autism was one or two retards.
I'm just glad the characters I tend to buy 3p for have less than zero chance for new versions. Like who the fuck is going to make a Turmoil?

because the thirdparty supports china, often has incredibly poor quality (though sometimes massively superior quality), and always costs 3-6 times as much as a normal release.
there's tons of great things about thirdparty toys, but the vast majority of people don't touch them

The thing is disgustingly lanky and all the limbs are boxes. I agree the ER doesn't look great, but the Siege is a mess. And even if you fixed the proportions, it has that awful greebling that's so dense it causes paint to get clogged, and a face sculpt that could be mistaken for a moulding error depending on the quality of your paint/fit.

This shelf is really going to need Inferno, the size difference between Megatron and everyone else is so much more stark than the Maximal shelf, due to them mostly being a sliding scale than everyone the same and then a fucking cliff.

Ok altmode, I love how the apc looks when you take the upper half off.
Weaponizer options too limited, torso is a useless module.
Lackluster bendy lance mode.
Poor titanmaster integration on altmode, was expecting the fake cockpit too be a real one and sit Zarak inside, he has to ride akwardly outside.

Went to Walmart today and the have voyagers priced at $31.47.

At that price, Hasbro has effectively pushed me away from buying official transformers. And this is coming from someone who would get nearly every mainline release in each season. Unless I find something completely unique or along those lines, I think I'm pretty much done buying transformers.

I hear this complaint a lot, and I've been back into collecting since the final years of Beast Wars, very rarely buy the same characters, and there's still more than enough to keep me going. Yeah, we had a Skids like 7 years ago, but he was IDW Skids, not G1, so I didn't buy him. I skipped the 2010 and TR G2 Optimus Prime, but the new one actually looks good. I'm skipping Legacy Bulkhead because he's worthless even if I didn't have the First Edition. There's plenty of stuff to be had and not burn out unless you're someone who feels compelled to buy everything.

Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Menasor

Hopefully this year's $300 retry ends up a wee better than this.

I'd forgotten how Frankenstien-y some of the CW gestalts were. It's mostly the huge Breakdown forearm and lack of knee cap on Dead End.
I'd also forgotten to show the weapons that Motormaster came with, that now bash together to make this odd Menasword.

Menasor has a real Dreamwave-ass face, rocking that classic Dull Surprise look. I'm not sure as to the reasoning for the AoE Galvatron style chest. It isn't exactly random, Galvatron was a grey decepti-truck that came out like the year before. But there's absolutely no connection between the characters.

I just love that green-wing waspinator, I want it. his actual personality would probably kind of suck, just a generic wooden airforce guy with a dumb generic name coming from some jet part like Intake or something.
Conversely, blue-wing waspinator would be a sycophant that's always building up the other preds because he actually likes them and believes in teamwork (to the point that he thinks galactic domination is just extreme teamwork and all the maximals need to get with the program). Call him uh.. Hivemind.
Syber-Squad Rattrap there looks like an excitable kid character who just fucking loves being a fighting robot. he'd be named Probe or something.
and red-stripes dinobot would be a cantankerous old soldier who is absofucking tired of fighting, to the point of actually kind of lightly sabotaging the war effort, like that one guy in New Vegas. name of uh.. Fossil. Yeah.

We can fault CW for a lot of shit but gestalt posability is not one of them .
The comboner peg was a pretty dang good bit of design. The HandFoot Guns play their part well enough as well.

Shoulders ratchet on both axis. Knees ratchet and swivel under the knee.
Menasor's waist swivels and his head is ball jointed.
The hips racthet but the angle they natural sit at can make posing them a bit of work. And Menasor carries over Motormaster's thigh swivel.
It was also simple genius to use the deluxe hips, knees and waist as the combined elbows and biceps.
The HFGs make good hands too, Since the peg in they come with wrist swivels

He has one or two good aspects.. the robot head is neat... and he's ostensibly a tasmanian devil, which is awesome.
but just look at how the beast mode actually ended up. what IS that? it's nothing.. and it's a fat nothing at that.
then check out the robot mode.. hollow head-halves for feet even with the kind of cool tongue spike heels, that's really weird and offputting (a reimagined one with a better proportioned, realistic beast mode (be it tasmanian devil, wolverine, or whatever) would have had better-sized feet at least). Big floppy oven mitt hands that bend inward at the wrist so he can go 'oh behave' and can't even hold his gun so he has to plug it into his forearm? the gun that.. has clearly a missile launch peg for a barrel, and weird ribbing on the bottom.. and in beast mode it serves only to futilely attempt to launch the tailless body forward, as if you'd want that? and the spring's so weak (and I have to imagine current specimens, even weaker) that it doesn't even clear the peg. he's just a mess. I regret getting him more than any other transformer. had money burning a hole in my pocket and he was all they had after I nabbed transquito and b'boom

Basically:

-Someone decides the toys should be a homage to masquerade, but also try to homage Energon Optimus
-Ironhide gets picked since they needed extra mileage out of the offroad mold (more sensible would have been trailbraker and hoist, and the mold was eventually modified for both at a later date).
-Mirage is used for obvious reasons
-So is Optimus
-They needed a yellow figure for Prime force, so Sideswipe is replaced by Sunstreaker
-They need a white figure, and the DE mold already has two uses, so they use alternate head for Streetwise for Prowl

I'm watching BW neo right now an its a blast. I'm kinda gutted that neo doesn't have some movie or special that has 10 times the budget like BW2 did but it's still good. I totally had a (korean reissue) Big Convoy at one point but sold it when I restarted my collection. Now I'm eyeing up the encore release. in fact I just looked it up and it's 5:4, so there you go, that is a thing. the only real difference it makes is when I put up 4:3 wallpapers, there's a tiny gap at the top and botto, so the task bar doesn't hide any of the background image.

I have slowed way down over the last few years too. On the plus side, digging out older stuff from storage and enjoying it all over again has been nice. I recommend it, if you have a bunch of stuff binned atm. Cycle those shelves and remind yourself why you bought the older stuff in the first place.

Loneliness and they were on clearance. Haven't touched TR Overlord in ages, but at least like, minus lack of waist articulation (that I rarely use but will still complain about) he does the job for the character(s) just fine?

If I don't remember after the Friday reveals (for which I hopefully don't wake up to three or four new fucking threads), it might be neat as a prompt to ask "the reveals sucked and we should kill ourselves, but what's a toy from the past decade that you're thankful for/should revisit?", sort of cheering ourselves up with the neat things we do have.

Nice, he's one of the good ones. I dug my CW stuff out the other day too. Abominus, Superion, Menasor, Bruticus, Defensor and Victorion. Plus the Elita-1 torso and a lone Moonracer, I never finished her. Anons who complain about CW forget how fun it is to assemble this big toys, mixing and matching is neat too so at least I can make my Elita stand by robbing some other teams. I hope the new Menasor is good, though I'm not sure if I'll replace the CW team just yet.

You do get a feeling of accomplishment completing Abominus and having him stand tall, yeah. I've Sky Lynx as his enemy, but I'm a bit inspired with the Gridman figma I was gifted recently.

Sadly, the original gimmick clashes with the cartoon heads. I only see it working for these characters if they have the front of the head be removable so you can swap face plates. The weird thing is, to my knowledge, Hasbro has only implemented this ONE time with SS Volks Bee even though plenty of toys could benefit with that.

Roberts wanted him and Blitzwing, but instead got Tailgate and Sadclonus. Take from that what you will, Powerglide was in RID but was just- just never used? He was fairly physically large in the continuity but that was about it!!!
I know G1 neglected a lot of characters aside from maybe a spotlight episode, but even without his gf one, I do remember him being relatively consistently present, and consistently likable. What a swell guy.

the only times I considered the mutant mask to be like a battle-mask was scorponok and polar claw, ones where the other face was still cool and vaguely the same. megatron and dinobot too KIND OF but megatron's mask-wings were the only thing holding his head up, and dinobot's helmet just seemed a little odd.

the only thing I want changed that is reasonable is the paint job to be more accurate and the transformation to work so the wings end up upside-down
and yknow the wings to fucking stay on. seriously there's no rim on the peg at all, it's one of those split pegs that's supposed to hold something by the tension of being pressed together, but designed by someone who doesn't get how that works. I don't see any way of fixing that, either.

Nah this thread has 50 to go till image limit and there's no sense in just spamming shit to reach it faster, makes us no better than him. Just send feedback and report if you're inclined to do so. They deleted his last thread so hopefully the same mod or janitor will do it again.

Transformers Generations Thrilling 30s Blitzwing

Everybody's favourite.

At a glance jet mode looks alright. Tan and purple like a Blitzwing should be. No obvious tank stuff.
He's got variable wings and a Macross style booster (if you squint)

Once you pick him up though that when Blitzwing really comes alive. And by that I mean everything immediately come unpegged.
Unless I've done something wrong there a serious tolerance issue where the legs peg in to the shoulders.

Not entirely sure what the second shade of purple is about. It's just the one piece and it really sticks out.

He isn't too bad as a tank either. But that transformation... Blitzwing is way overengineered for what he is. Maybe Leader class Blitzwing will finally get it right.
Because this one has good ideas that lead to too many small fiddly parts and alt mode gaps that my flattering photography mostly hides.

As a tank toy I'm sure it rolls well enough. My doesn't since it appears I'm missing a castor.
The turret rotates, almost too freely. But doesn't aim up and down.
It's also got some robot feet hanging off the back.

So you know how we all worried about the waist or hips snapping on BW Megatron? Turns out that's not what you should worry about. Pretty sure I can thicken up the two joints this actuates on so that it'll stay upright, but fucking christ.

Well it turns out you don't even need to do that. The little baby t-rex arms hold it in just fine, can shake it and it doesn't break. Does make me worry for other posts that use the same purple plastic, but as far I can tell, nothing else uses it.

Finally the robot mode.
Waist down no complaints.
Hip move on soft ratchet on both axis. Thighs swivel and knees bend 90.
His shins a re bit long long but they do store the entire length of the wings.
He's even got ball ankles and adjustable front and back foot halves.

Torso is convincingly Blitzwing. With the cockpit center and the red and silver whatevers on the side.
But uhh then there are the shoulders. Which, up top, are just too small. I prefer a proper Beefzwing and this guy ain't it.
But to the point as many of us here know, they don't peg together at all. At all.
And not only is the assembly never together the joints in the shoulder itself are way too tight for this toy to have any prayer of staying together in the first place.
Two pinned joints move the shoulders on both axis. Elbows bend 90, and both the biceps and wrists swivel. So that's nice.

Blitzwing's forearm is too bulbous for him to hold his gun properly.

I just now figured out the face swap thing. It spins backwards. not around sideways like you'd think.
Right, yeah, thes Blitzwing has the same face swap thing as Animated Blitzwing.
Also, some of the goopy paint from his helmet transferred to the inside of the nosecone. The paint is messed up on every side of his head.
