People are getting their Terrorsaurs in, and it looks like his only issue is wingtips not being that stable. Did you manage to snag one? Did you enjoy all of the reveals today? Nobody knew about the restock because hasbro didn't notify, and we had about a 3 hour window after announcement originally until the first preorder window closed. Hasbro is worse about this than anyone else I can think of save for sofubi guys where the exclusivity is sensible due to the production numbers of things being limited by how fast one dude can paint things.

everyone says it's pretty good, either slightly better or slightly worse than the T30 one. In my view the ideal waspinator would be an average of the two, fused together somehow. but I haven't received mine yet so I couldn't tell you for sure.

It's shit. I don't know where these people above me are hearing this. He's got better knees and better head deco than the T30 but is as bad or worse in every way. He's like 5% better than Rhinox and Terrorsaur. Reposting what I said when I got him in a previous thread minus the one thing I was wrong about.

T30 has its own issues and as a result the only reason I'd suggest the fucker is if he's the cheaper option and you need a Waspinator. Ideally the Legends EX version is the best since it has fantastic paint but even then he's still the T30 and therefore has shitty wings and shitty knees despite the rest being sort of kind of better.

The insect head simply sits on a hinge with friction alone holding it down to the rest of the body. Unless you lift the head up, the mandibles bang into the thighs. This causes the head to start closing and the mandibles to moves left and right. You can avoid this by making the head float off of the rest of the body but it looks awful like this. The waist joint feels like an afterthought because of this, since the mandibles frame the crotch piece and actually look good doing that. Just that if you want to raise the thighs or turn the waist, shit bangs into it and it all starts moving.

Honestly I prefer size being distributed across waves rather than everything needing to be an exact height for the size class. Lets us have towering voyagers like Dinobot and smaller deluxes like Scorponok. The show, the thing that the headsculpts, bodies, and generally the entire fucking toys are trying to look like. I also grew up with the toys and always wanted things to look like the show. It's why myself and all my friends loved S2 onwards, because Mainframe worked much closer with the toy designers and vice versa. I'm also not complaining about the scale, I'm just annoyed knowing we're never gonna have a second shot at this, so I'd like them to fuck it up less than they've been fucking it up.

Having to mistransform something to get it to function is bad engineering, anon. I could also get more range out of Blackarchnia's hips by popping the front of her crotch down and flipping the legs over it but that's a pain in the ass and looks like shit. The entire 3rd wave onwards of KD was clearly someone's first try at making toys, going off of Scorponok, Rhinox and him. Even Tigatron, who is the standout best of the group, has alot of issues.

The weird thing about Tigatron is that his crotch plate feels like it was meant to move since his legs can't go up all the way thanks to it but it can't. Cheetor's was slightly different so it wasn't necessary for it to move for full range of motion, the legs can nearly go all the way without moving it.

We can't know for sure, but realistically, a large part of a figure's budget is in paint, and the dude wastes so much of it on the brown that both looks bad and isn't accurate to a real tiger or to the show.

Having, Mutant Tigatron, the complaints I had with it are:

-The feet looked goofy. I don't get why they didn't try making the feet look more show accurate.
-The mask is painted and you don't get full clearance when storing it, the sides (the temple area?) make contact with the plastic and there's nothing you can do to avoid it. If you transform it often enough, eventually you'll see the paint rub off in that area.
-The crotch not moving when it was necessary, unlike Chetor.
-Needing to flex the plastics in a bit to transform the back panels ( and the ones with the front tiger legs) by flexing the plastic when it has to clearance to do so going from robot to beast mode.

I can live with some of these problems, but flexing the plastic annoys me every time I do it.

This still scares the absolute shit out of me, especially being one of the dudes who got the mistransformed Airazor wings fresh out of box. Probably going to shave the parts down on mine, even if it makes a gap visible in beast mode.

I don't have her, but from what I've seen, she does really well. The only issue I have with the mould is the panels on the tail arm take a bit of getting used to folding down for either mode. You need to be careful and tuck them under properly or they can get stressed. That aside, it's amazing. Definitely get Primal if you can as well, paint scrape issues aside, he's fantastic.

Transformers Generations Skullgrin

The truest proper was of updating Pretender characters. Which I say confidently without even knowing what G1 Skullgrin turns into.

Skullgrin turns into this half-track artillery thing vehicle, in this cool bone grey and gunmetal. Kind of weird how Megatron is the only other baddie you commonly see rocking these colours. The gold decepti-badge stands out well.
Awesome to see that the turrett not only rotates but also aims up. How is it still so rare to get both?

There are few 3mm clip weapons included, and a lot of bars to clip them too, as was the style at the time. Remember how we used to go nuts for these things?
Now we have 5mm ports and never looked back.

I sort of fixed it without shaving too much, by shaving the corner where they meet at an angle (on the leg section, since it would be too noticeable on the other). It still flexes, but since it's at an angle it settles into place easier.

Trivia: Skullgrin's original pretender shell is iconic for it's goat skull look, but the toy has an unpainted lower jaw and tongue on the main body of the figure-- presumably, that's where Budiansky saw the "grin" in Skullgrin!

Neck rotates, and the platform it's on lets him look up and down too.
Ball jointed shoulders and hips.
Swivels at the thighs and biceps and waist.
Bending elbows and knees. And the one knock I have against Skullgrin's posability is that his elbows only bend to about 80 degrees.

Now the good stuff. Butterfly shoulders for backwards range.
Ball jointed wrists and opening hands. Ball jointed ankles
And to finish it off and second joint at the elbow that bends inward so he can reach across his chest.

Someone put a lot of care into this mold when it was originally being created.
Like, the only thing stopping it from being completely over the top would be, like, rubber tires.

I will show almost none of that so that I may instead make a low quality meme.

For those saying that Tigatron's crotch can't be moved, you can move it. You need to turn the torso to the side until the green piece isn't obstructing the crotch and move the side pieces away, then you can move it. It's still pointless because while it can move, it doesn't go all the way up so the leg articulation is essentially unchanged.

silverbolt, tigerhawk, and quickstrike. nothing else but their og toys exist for these niggas so youre going to need to go for the original toys for all 3
wouldnt be too bad if you could buy used but problems are as follows:
silverbolt listings mostly got missing pieces or horrible paint chipping so youre going to want misb for him
tigerhawk is in a similar boat but there are some decent used listings out there
most important though is quickstrike. any non-misb listing is either damaged or his joints are loose and i can tell you because ive had 3 quickstrikes in my lifetime and those joints and the mostly clear plastic legclaws are a motherfucker. get him misb without question or even skip him for the collection

For all the talk about Tigatron, I'm surprised no one brought up that the must have done some late game change to the tiger head, because the two lower flesh bits that move into the abdomen are meant to go all the way, there's even space for the pointy bits at the end so it all looks flush... but the tiger head get in the way of this. It gives the impression that either this mold was originally designed with a different tiger head, but was later changed for some reason, leaving those bits below unchanged.

I don't know that it necessarily means the tiger head was changed, but possibly that, in the process of upscaling the cheetor body (Which we're told was not even their original plan, somehow), they engineered the flaps part, and then changed the tiger head separately, and never tested the two together

i'm just now realizing, my complaints about the legs being too long... i think what's actually bothering me is that the t-rex body isn't deep enough in the pelvic/abdominal area. Not that I'm one of those people that wants to see that ridiculous gigantic beer belly they claim they have TUMMY BONES as proof of now, but the ischia is kind of a major feature in the saurischia group, and it kinda anchors their shape. I would like to have seen something down there and then it integrates into the claw-arm so that thing doesn't look quite so.. empty. it feels weird the fist is right behind the claw, no real room for imagined mechanics.

I always hated how the Beast Machines Mirage was repainted into yellow and red in a set where Beadt Machines Scavenger was repainted into blue and white, Mirage colors. I swear the colors were switched because yellow and black are construction vehicle colors. I might be the only one who gives a shit. Also damn I wish we got Skidz, BM mirage out of this mold. But Starscream is interesting - shoulder canons, wing sword, potential minicons - that's a lot for a voyager.

I love that Slipstream, but I don't think I'll ever transform her again since her entire chest is clear plastic. This is one of those toys I'd love a V2 that just improved on the minor issues (solid chest with clear plastic cockpit, better heels, etc...). do you mean the knuckle-joint rotation, the last piece of the wing with the wingtip? folds down a solid 45 degrees, to the point that the wing finger thing detaches and leaves a cool-looking upward-pointing spike by a gap.
if you mean how far can you fold in the multiple joints at the elbow to collapse the wings, same as airazor.. quite a bit. to the point almost the entire wings are just... ~out of the way~ and they have multiple satisfying ways that they seem to 'clip in' to his back and surround his pteranodon head.

I actually get that completely. That's what the GS toy colored version is to me. I also wanted to take this shot with the only RED figure I own...I got it because I thought there's no way to do that similar kind of effect on an actual transforming figure, yet here I stand corrected.

I'm probably not the best person to ask, most of my toy collecting revolves around Transformers and it feels like RED is more targeted towards regular action figure collectors. So knowing that about me, I think as a toy he's quite boring. All of his character comes as a display piece presenting that one cool scene in the movie.
I think the line as a whole might have been received better over a decade ago when Transformers posability weren't as good as they are now. Sure, not every piece of articulation is as standardized and ubiquitous as it is in the RED line, but on the whole, there's very little that transforming figures can't do compared to their RED counterparts.

How reliable is Target's site when it comes to saying if something's in stock?
I looked up SS86 Slag on there and apparently an out-of-town Target has him in stock.
Also, is he worth retail? I'm worried I'll miss out on him if I don't snag him.

Goddamnit Takara, it's a waste of money and time. Just rerelease SS44 with the trailer and jetwing in the premium line, it'll be compatible with the eventual SS Jetfire premium and a chance to come with the 3 barreled handheld minigun that was in the movie.
