Fellow mech anons, whats your opinions on the new "solid hinge" arm/leg pieces introduced in the new Ninjago Evo sets? I hated them at first (TLG could have easily given it a ratcheting system for basic movement), but it's really growing on me. They're pretty useful for making quick and dirty mechs.

Just put this Mad Max V8 Interceptor together the other day after sorting my collection. I had the thought that it looked a lot like a batmobile partway through tinkering, and now looking at OP's pic, wow it's similar. I might just pick that set up for the better wheels, and the mudguards since I only had two for my build.

Nice anon, I think the windscreen needs to be like 1 plate higher the falcon had a much higher roofline that that looks. But I do understand parts arnt always at hand.

havent gotten any sets with them yet, i tend to avoid them as ive been hurt before (g1 bionicle and its fake looking jointed limbs, ESPECIALLY the Nuva sets) and i really prefer my mechs with basic articulation. Why they bothered to make them after making mixel joints ill never know.

Understandable. But to be fair, you can get some decent poses with the new "joint" pieces if you're creative enough.

I agree it could be higher, but yeah pickings were slim. It was a lot of janky finagling getting the windscreen where it is, but I could push it a little higher. I might even try swapping it out with the batmobile's once I get that set, or just BL one that I like.

Any thoughts on the shotgun? I was considering a 3rd party one, but I'd rather keep it pure.
1 I like the shape, but it sure is big and goofy
2 is okay, but I don't like the asymmetry
3 is shamelessly stolen from google, but I think it's the strongest. I just need to order the right colors.

I may get around to it this weekend. I have a shit load of red/black/burgundy parts...so it shouldn't be too hard. Also, sweet shark mech at the top right of your pic. I skipped the last few generals because I was on vacation with hardly any service, so i may have missed it. Any more pics of it?

3 looks the best imo, I'd commit some heresy and trim the iron sight off the revolver. 1 is good for over the top laughs but doesn't fit the max moc and 2 just doesn't look right like like a pump that became misaligned.

So with train MOCs there's a few things you need to keep in mind:
1) How big are you building it? Lego Standard 6-wide? Super-detailed 8-wide? Gigachad 7-wide? Think of the width of your train to older Speed Champions sets to newer ones if you need a non-train example. Just remember the wider your train is, the longer you have to make it too.
2) References are your friend, especially other models of the train you're trying to make. When I was building my Class 812s I used photos of an 00 scale model as my main reference regarding things like proportions and size.
3) Steam train internals are kinda rough for a first timer. If you're starting out, you might want to either just use the standard train motor as a basis or look up gearing tutorials on Yotuube.
4) Having trouble with motors still? Just build a car containing the motor/battery/receiver and leave the engine itself unpowered.

Of all the various themes out there in Lego, trains are probably the most self-reliant on third party offerings (Motors, track, wheels, etc). If you'd rather drop $40 on motorizing a train over the ~$65 for a Hub + Train motor (Or $90 for a Hub+Large motor) and don't mind a slower run I recommend grabbing a CircuitCubes bluetooth set.

A big part of why Lego almost went bankrupt was because they were so inefficient about manufacturing. They were making a lot of unique parts in unique colors and there wasn't any coordination to use the same pieces in multiple lines.

They were also making an electronics kit that cost more to produce than it retailed for but that's another story

This is absolutely one of the coolest bionicle sets. The first wave of rahi were basically recolored and repurposed technic competition sets. They were all mainly built with classic technic parts with some Bionicle flair. The lions, dragonflies, these, and the bohork dragons were so cool. I remember begging my mom for happy meals to get the lil mcdonalds guys.

This set is a lego rockem sockem robots, and it was fun as hell. *wallops your $20 dark turquoise kakama in the mouth*

Also I feel like Ghostbusters 2016 was so bad that it made Lego cautious of any GB Afterlife sets. Woulda been nice to see some more ghost figs and Gozer, the Terror Dogs (but I guess the Lego Dimensions sets covered that?). I dunno I feel like the first Ecto-1 Ideas set and the 2016 Ecto-1 had a lot more soul put into the packaging and booklet graphics. I get maybe a 3rd fig scale Ecto might be lame after already getting two of them.

So I picked up my lego movie kits and my pharaohs quest kit was delivered all kits were complete... Except metalbeards duel but it was only bits from the micro manager, metalbeard was complete which was the only one I really wanted.

And I found out I need to be careful with any PQ kits I pick up due to brittle dark red.
Movie kits are neat but now I have 3 emmets. The friends hotdog truck will arrive soon too.

Purple pakari wasn’t exclusive, the nui jaga set came with two.
The dark orange Kakama also came with the later retail version of Hewkii, and the sand blue Akaku also came with the later retail version of Matoro.

>Half has been paid and shipped and arrived today
>The other half is still waiting in the warehouse as it's standard and takes longer to ship
>They haven't taken payment for those items yet
So my question is if I get in touch with Lego and tell them what's happened and that my card has now been cancelled and I'll be getting a new one next week, can they just update my payment details and take the money from my new card? Or is the order going to get cancelled and I'll have to reselect all my parts?

It really depends what you're looking for. If your intention is to have them shelf warm then you're better off picking something else from a price point perspective. If you're into having your own city which you terraform and build on then they are great purchases. Especially when you start incorporating other buildings like the Daily Bugle or the Ghostbusters Fire House into the mix. As far as fun goes, it depends on which one. The Bookshop is boring and simple whereas Assembly Square is one of the better Lego sets from the last years imo.

The face looks masculine. Even giving her eye lashes or something would help. Her proportions are squat and muscular...kinda like a midget or something. She does t have any curved, hip to waist ratio is way off for a typical female. Jaw is wide and not very feminine. Mouth/muzzle is too broad. The feet are also huge, but I get the bunny aesthetic you were going for and they'd be more forgivable if everything else was more feminine.

Also, her face looks more like a tigers than a bunny. Your male characters look really awesome, and I can tell that's you're bread and butter. You just need to work on making feminine looking characters.

Brick-built with molded parts is probably the best for large creatures, like dragons that use bionicle parts and system for the body but have molded wings/head/feet. Also stuff like the Orient Expedition elephants with mostly specialised parts but still articulated. The JP/JW dinosaurs seem good too.
The classic dragons and Dino Island dinosaurs look soul, but the lack of articulation makes for less playability and scene-construction.

Either way, one is clearly cooler, imo. Also a good opportunity to ask what meaningful or useful interior space is. Most of the new moonbase is just places to barely put a minifigure, not actually play with em.

Today I discovered that only a few of my yellow 2x4 duplo bricks fit onto the tops of the quatro bricks. At some point they changed the mold, because only the ones with less reinforcement will fit.

It was one of the circular round parts that goes on the bridge in bag 2. I technically had all the pieces I needed but they literally gave me one that was the wrong color somehow, so I had to get a new one.

If you really sit and think about it, the early themes were just merely suggestions. You didn't need to build the sets 1-1, and it encouraged doing clever stuff with what you had. It's just that the later the company went on, the heavier they focused on the theme itself and being an IP instead of something rather simple and/or generic.

That's exactly how I treated Lego as a child. I turned space sets into Scrooge McDuck's treasure hunting vehicles. The only problem was the lack of fitting figures. I just pretended them to be there. Today Lego makes all kinds of licensed and non-licensed minifigs, so it would be much easier now to reenact your own stories from any IP you like. Building your own vehicles and buildings was never the problem.

Before Christmas, my mom’s account had almost 30k points from all the sets my parents, and in recent years my older brother, bought over the years. For Christmas we redeemed almost all of them for $200 off the Mos Eisley Cantina. I kinda wish I would’ve saved them, though.
