its true though, the "improvements" in articulation does nothing overall since the Dom is a chungus MS. only buy them if you want a Dom MG made with the newest plastic formula.

In fact, there are way better options that could benefit a 1.5 that would bring the kit to 2.0 standard like the GP01. It only needs a new head mold, 2.5 hands, knees maybe, and the ankles, and it would really bring the GP01 to 2.0 MG standard.

Eh bbts has been more miss than hit for a while. Ive had ok results with new releases and p bandai with them. Anything that is a repreint has been sitting for over a year. Have seen items on my preorder list come in stock elsewhere and bbts still hasnt fulfilled the preorders for those items a month later.

They don't have any of the kits I want right now. Re/100 Efreet Custom, Zaku FZ, HG Legilis, HG G-Exes, HG EZ-SR, etc. And good luck pre-ordering anything from them. I've had the Re/100 Zaku FZ on pre-order with them for over a god damned year. I'm convinced they're just bæuffing about it getting restocked at this point.

BBTS can be a hit or miss though. when they put kits that are supposed to get restocked, they set a preorder link for it but half the time they dont even get it in so your order stays on preorder forever. luckily they dont charge until shipped but its still annoying to see.

ive had the PG zaku 2 on preorder from them for almost 2 years now. luckily at the time though, i found one that my local hobby store restocked so i just bought it from them but still kept my order from BBTS.

The GPs all need a total redesign of the chest, shoulders, and hips. That's basically an entirely new kit. You can see plainly how out of date the entire thing is. The main chest piece is two pieces with plain pegs for the shoulder mounts, no butterfly joints at all, let alone horizontal and vertical joints like modern MGs. The hips are just fixed ball joints, there's no swivel on the hip piece and the legs contain a fixed ball joint cup, so there's very little hip raises.

I bought all the GP kits because I thought I could design a few new pieces to improve the articulation and 3D print them but the entire kit needs a redesign.

Nah, the GP01 chest is fine. It houses the weird core fighter after all. you can't expect an articulated/complex shoulder construction there. It is similar to Victory MG.

you can add forward shoulder articulation like the RG, but that would need advanced MS joints that Bandai wont use for MG. And heck, even GP01 PG doesn't have forward shoulder articulation

Right now just adding a different shade of Blue to the RG hi but, although it's hard to tell. Needs touching up in a few places also. Dear lord, see the other shoulder thats has the blue vent bits? Its a WIP, im trying out things as i go. The gold on the elbow was painted at the same time as the other gold on the kit. in terms of looks and articulation overall, its gotta be the Gundam RX78-2 ver Origin. I would say it looks better and more stable than the RG and they cost roughly the same.

and it costs 2300 yen MSRP so it with the usual US markup, it cost around 20-25 USD.

they're both good kits. the hcug revive is more accurate to the original 1979 gundam anime design but has less surface detail as a result. the hgorigin has a more complex construction and due to being accurate to the origin manga/ova has more surface details like panel lines.
personally i'd say the origin is a better kit due to the more complex construction that the origin line uses compared to normal hgs, but if you prefer the look of the hguc (either because you prefer accuracy to the 1979 anime or just prefer a design with less panel lines) then obviously get that one. you can't go wrong with either.

Theres alot of 00 kits that are less than $13. I learned spray cans of pokemon kits.

If you want a kit specifically to panel line than you might want to look for a specific hg.

Although i'd reccomend not learning to panel line before you can paint. If you need to learn panel lining specifically its kinda hard to fuck up really. The only time panel lining is an issue is on painted kits, or using enamel panel liners on non-painted kits (enamels eat through bare plastic)

If you want to panel line, i reccomend this product specifically. Gundam markers are really for children

You paint it over the lines, wait for it to dry, and wipe a wet cloth over the area. If the wet cloth fails use isopropyl alchohol (99¢ at most pharmacies and targets). Make siure its moist, but not dripping.

Once again, i'd reccomend doing spray cans before learning to panel line, but you'll ignore this paragraph anyway

send the images to your pc first, us mspaint and just save the image again, and it will be fixed. It rotates because your phone ads information about the orientation of the image, 4chan doesn't read this information, so if the camera is sideways when the pic was taken, it will be sideways on 4chan

Of all the washes to recommend that would be the last.
Only really okay for bare plastic. Once it dries water does jack shit, you need alcohol to clean up and alcohol damages any paint coat except fully cured enamel.

you can use it on lacquer if you're reeeeeally careful. it takes a while to eat into it and make the lacquer tacky (at which point any abrasion will start removing it). I frequently strip acrylic without damaging the base lacquer I prime with, but I burn through it on occasion too.

I take a small dab of vallejo gloss acrylic and brush it over the ball joint or peg. Then brush a bit inside the connector. Clean up any excess that seaps out and continue to turn it every so often. It can lock parts together.

Like the 2 others have replied, Beyond Global and the Origin one. My personal favourite is the Origin. It’s one of the best HGs I have. Beyond Global does have a bit of stylization but nicely articulated. Other options would be the HGUC from 2015 and the entry grade. I’m a big fan of gramps so I bought the EG but just never got around to building it.

I'm going with Origin, will be a good way to do panel lining when I learn how to do it. I have the Entry Grade one and like it a lot, just a shame that the joints I move the most became loose and floppy extremely fast.
Beyond looks cool and the colors are interesting, but overall I'm not a fan of its proportions, doesn't look clunky enough, it that makes sense

pull the joints apart, put a sheet of tissue paper between the parts, the parts will press paper into the joints, tear away the extra paper until you don't see any more sticking out of the seams.

Those are halves, right? Cementing 2 of them together with the opposite warp may fix the warp.
You can also try putting them back in hot water, straightening them and holding them in straightened state as they cool under cold water.

Godhands are great but they wont solve all your problems. Still need to file and sand round parts. Godhands tend to leave a bit of a gouge on a round part. Bandai doesnt give a fuck about gate placement. Zeon stuff has tons of gates that are not an easy cut and filing is about the only way to get them off completely.

we autistically investigated this in /m/ a couple of months ago. dspiae 1.0 is exactly the same as the mastertools 09990 just with dspiae brand markup, dspiae 2.0 is a very slightly different model but basically the same and performs identically. dspiae 3.0 is actually a pretty different model and slightly better quality.
at the end of the day though there isn't that much difference between all of these even the dspiae 3.0, they're all cheap chinese crap which will go dull much faster than godhands. dspiae just spend a lot on marketing and inflate their prices to pay for it. any of them are basically just as good as the others if you want a cheap single bladed nipper.

I've been thinking of making a custom of the Prototype Gundam MK-II, but I'm unaware of which parts are compatible from the gunpla that I need. Gelgoog marine is pretty much the cheapest one you can still find. The standard/cannon one is a better kit. Have to look around for them but the marine has been in stock at a few places for a while.

You do realize you're not making your point any better?

The fact that an Entry Grade has better colour separation, vents that you can see in the chest vs. what looks like one piece in the HG, and more lines around the skirt, makes the HG look embarrassing.

The EG is based on the Hg head/body ratio but updated to reflect the current day fashion trend of thinner upper torso and bigger crotch area. If they would also to increase the length of the leg it would look more closely to the new Ka Mg and RG

Though I am not sure the thinner and less curvy legs were because they tried to save plastic to keep the price down or they tried to emulate the new Katoki look.

Probably more than getting your money's worth getting this but if you are looking purely in look you should get your paint ready and work on the Hg.

There was a reason that back in the day some in Japan considered the HgUC cca line to be the definitive 144 CCA kits

Doesn't matter, lineart proportions isn't accurate to how it's animated anyways so based on purely looks I prefer the EG proportions.

Not great, frankly. The brush strokes are very visible. If you want to go for a really dirty/weathered look as part of a diorama, you could probably play it off as part of that effect, but it'll stick out like a sore thumb if you're doing a clean build. Tamiya doesn't really play nice with hand painting even with retarder. Vallejo is a lot easier to work with if you're hand painting.

Tamiya is fucking difficult to hand paint. If its your only option, you need to restart and do it in layers. THE FIRST COUPLE LAYERS WILL NOT LOOK LIKE A SOLID COLOR, THEY WILL BE LIGHT LOOKING. DO A LAYER, WAIT MAYBE 10-20 MINUTES, THEN DO ANOTHER LAYER WITH PROPERLY THINNED PAINT.

Sorry for caps but that's what I remember from the few times I've hand-painted with it.

Mr Colour aqueous are probably your best bet. Other than that - prime and thin enough that you don't actually get decent coverage until you put down the third layer and finally, use a brush of the appropriate size for the surfarce you're painting.

I legitimately can't decide if like the EG or HG more. The EG doesn't need paint aps for the smaller details and surely has more articulation, but the HG actually has funnels and is the slightest bit bulkier. I guess if they make a FW set for the EG Nu like they did with the EG RX-78-2 then I'll get that. I just pray to god it doesn't have those shitty ball joints that were on the EG RX-78-2. What I can say for for certain though is that I like the HG and EG far more than the RG.

Fucking based. You can paint that thing into anything. You can weather it, or straight build it. You can put it in flashy commander colors with zabi decorations (the gold strands of jewlery) or weather it. That kits amazing for customization and all you need is the custom zaku eyes off ebay.

That kit you can literally do anything with except articulate.

As a retarded who hasn't put together a model kit in 10+ years I of course started with a MG EW kit. Finished the assembly in about 5 hours. Now I'm paranoid because one of the pieces (not optional hands) is still on the sheet.

In other news, I don't understand ordering these EW models. One website says in stock, one says sold out, another says pre-order to ship June 2022, and then my local hobby store has 5 of them.

The front of the manual (picture of runners) has X marks on any piece thats not used. The mg ew kits have a few in every kit because the wing series has 2 different versions, and mg ew has 4 seperate versions.

Its cheaper to mold an extra part than create an entirely new mold, and the extra cost is likely only a penny or two per kit

The mg wing series i would only include the ver ka, and the ew ver ka, while there was another kit it was unchanged from the white winged version

This isn't counting the new ver ka or tv versions which are completely different. Basically theres alot of wing kits.

Bandai does reprints sporadically (Although Wing kits get reprinted fairly regularly due to their popularity). The "Preorder" is probably for a resock while due to gunpla exploding in popularity due to the lockdowns the out of stock stores are just between shipments/reprints.
