i also got parts for a white version, i ended up modifying it to fit the slightly larger raptor from one of the new sets, and a yellow version, i ran out of raptors at this point so its currently piloted by a parrot

Whoever designed the cyber drone creator set definitely did it in homage to the 4508 Titan-XP based on color scheme alone, and I'm absolutely here for it (cyber drone is the best $10 set that has existed for quite some time).

Titan-XP was the most pivotal set I ever had as a child, mostly based on the fact I had multiple of them because they were on clearance.

Picrel is an 18 year old moc, and it shows. I had a bunch of creations based on this color scheme but sadly they are lost to time from MOCpages being dismantled. I should build a big spaceship with color scheme one day, it is a good one.

Not so much the color accuracy itself but the strength of the piece once the dye is involved (reddish browns, dark red, dark blues cracking more than normal, etc).

At the very least I'd like to see them expand mixel joints into the tried and true colors of technic pins. Theyve been making red, blue, yellow, white technic pins for years now and they have all passed the stress test that mixel joints need. There is no excuse not to expand them at least into the limited color range that can handle it other than convenient greed.

Any color of technic pin could have a mixel joint analogue.

I just think it's weird how noone wants to talk about why the original, gender-neutral Lego we've all come to love wasn't connecting with a female audience. Boys are always slowly getting pushed out of their own clubs, even when they never intentionally set out to start them in the first place.

just built my first (and last) speed champions set, the Lamborghini Countach, since I like the car and I could get it for 15 €.
I am really not that impressed. the clear-backed stickers were a mistake, everything leaves a spot on them and will forever be stuck under the glue. some of the techniques were interesting, but it feels really too big for a lego car, it dwarves everything, so it'll just be a dust collector on my shelf. I don't mind the opacity of the window printing, but I think not all of the pieces are the same shade of white. the back side panels shift out of their angle easily so it isn't great for playing, and there were 2 printing errors in the manual, which were really disorienting. also, you really have to angle the 1x1 plates/bricks unless the front spoiler is uneven in the end.

I like to use white or bright colors for interiors so that you can actually see the details through the transparent canopies (Trans-dark blue exterior panels, white + trans neon green interior)

That's amazing anon. I'm still in the planning fase with mine. I want to build a smaller ship with a bridge, a corridor with bunk beds on one side and a small kitchen and maybe a toilet on the other side, and a cargo bay. The engines would be on both sides of the cargo bay with a control panel on the inside. I had some drawings made but I can't find them anymore so enjoy this shitty sketch.

Generally, fake lego costs more in terms of value lost than buying offical lego because it is without intrinsic value on the secondary economy. Lego maintains or appreciates in value whereas fake Lego has no value and is largely unsalable.

I wouldn't want fake pieces getting mixed in and don't think it would be an enjoyable building process as well, given how fake lego tolerances and builds can be wonky. Personally, I wouldn't bother with it.

Both Ideas and Bricklink Designer Programs allow you to design sets that are left to fan vote to be made into official models. Then you receive a cut of the profits on the sale of the item. I think 5% of gross sales which is quite substantial.

In terms of actually becoming a designer, I reckon you'd have to graduate from a program, and get through the interview process, which I believe is extremely difficult.

Got my hands on the third Speed Champion polybag. Fun little build, decent parts, even two 1×5 plates in black included.
Tiny Turbos was and still ks in my top 3 favourote themes. So seeing how these are licensed and still one buck cheaper than Tiny Turbos 5 years ago, for me personally they have the best value of current lego sets.

Also tried using big wheels on a Tiny Turbo. I think it kinda works for offroad vehicles, but then again the older style City wheels would probably be better because of the smaller rims and offroad tires.

I got it because being a sane individual I understand, accept, and embrace the universal truth of "old good new bad". When I came out of my dark ages I was able to collect every single Castle set from Crusaders through Black Knights/Wolfpack. I stopped at Dragon Knights. I also got every Adventurers set outside of Dino Island. Anyway, recently I found a near complete Black Seas Barracuda in a used lot and it basically piratepilled me. I figured if I have that, then I should have someome for them to fight so I started trying to piece together the Imperial Trading Post. Then I saw that except for the baseplate and one minifig, the Eldorado Fortress is mostly pretty common, easy to acquire pieces. Then I said fuck it and figured I might as well collect the entirety of the original Pirates line. (I might avoid a couple of the really expensive sets from the end of the line, after they fired the original designers though.) I was also inspired by that anon who posts here sometimes about collecting old, unopened, new in box sets. How he does it kind of as a means of curation. New Lego can be nice and all, but when was the last time there was a theme where literally every single set after set, year after year was absolute kino? I have a duty to collect it.

Nice, classic pirates is so good, probably my favorite Lego theme. I've got most of the original Pirates Line. The only real big gaps in my collection are the Conquistador Flagship, Forbidden Island and the last wave. The Redcoat and Bluecoat subthemes are 100% complete tho with every set.

Yeah they were, it’s such an odd choice. I guess they figured since they already had the cg model to do army shots, and in order to keep everyone identical they’d just use that. Actual armour still would’ve been better though.

Well it makes sense since when they did CGI Yoda in the sequels and to compare him to that fucking puppet from the first film. But ironically CGI Yoda is the best CGI in the first film because of when it was added 6 years after the 3rd film came out. And it's a shame they never updated the rest of the CGI because it looks bad at times, especially in HD now.

the models in lego games arent made of smaller pieces like lego, they are just models that outwardly look like they are made of lego. theres no way to convert the 3d models into ldd or stud.io. youd have to reverse engineer them from scratch and hop that theres a way to make the builds work

99%, the minifigures should be easier to rip, youd only need to get the textures and make decals from them, i think studio has a tool for that, but studio part models are too specific for you to be just able to insert the game models into.
any other builds range from difficult to impossible to build in real life

Ok so this morning I finished my MOC of two Sith Trooper Battle Packs. Used every piece, but could not fit 2 of the figs. I like it tho, I can imagine it as a beefy soldier transport with a lot of fire power and one of the officer piloting it. I hit the snag exactly where I expected I would. Part designer being a shit. I have all the models and the textures and they are separate files but the 200kb .obj file of Fate's Helmet that microsoft paint3d loads in 3 milliseconds doesn't want to be imported in parts designer. Lego IS a toy, however Lego has managed to make sets that are like model building. Like I could buy an Ecto-1 car model that looks 1:1 to the movie car but instead I opted for the Lego set because I like how the pieces and designs fit together to create the "model". I'm ok that it's not 1:1 like a real plastic model but I appreciate the designing that went into it and how your imagination fleshes out the build. Some chrome parts for the fenders would have been great tho.

I dunno. I guess some peeps don't like the big models that are not compatible with the figures they come with.

What do you guys not like about them? A part of me also doesn't like the idea that Lego can sell an $800 AT-AT or something. But I also like that the 2021-2022 star wars play sets have been smaller and more affordable. And I say this as someone who 100% believes that Lego sets should be as affordable as possible for parents but also kids. I WANT a kid to be able to get both an Xwing and Tie Fighter because they are very affordable, but maybe not look so chibi like microfighters but also look a little more complex than the 4+ stuff like Poes Xwing and the Snowspeeder.

LEGO is innately a luxury hobby, and then making decent production quality videos is an extra layer of exclusion.

One of 2 vidno sets I have contemplated buying but decided against it.

Due to 8 wide, I just bought pic related 2nd hand and while it is cool it's just WAY too big so I will be making it 6wide in the future. Its the big problem I have had with hidden side that the land vehicles are stupidly big, this will make the stunts monster trucks(don't have them) look small and means they can't work with any type of city/town.

Mostly got it for the trike since it is based.

I find bins like that at garage sales/fb marketplace probably 5-6+ times a year and I usually only pay about $50 for a full bin like that, the most I've gone was $100 and it was bc I saw some good shit in there. if you don't have any collection of bulk lego then it isn't a terrible start for $300. I'd try to talk them down somewhat at least if you really wanna go for it.

Speaking of bootleg minifigs, I got this little guy at the mall for like $3, there was a popup shop around Christmas that had a shitload of bootleg minifigs, nothing terribly interesting other than this and some Mario ones of varying quality. I managed to find multiple chink sites online selling the same thing, as well as a hologram Vader with a puffy chestplate and weird rubber cape I got the year before.

I want more of these, cuz they're fun to have for the novelty of it, and they're cheap so collecting is easy. What's the best site to order from, as far as price/shipping, reputation and delivery times?

Just get some parts to build your own. All of like from this set is the Keaton Batman with the special cowl. I wanted the Batmobile but didn't get it in time and I'm not paying triple the price for it. You just gotta be honest with yourself that it barely resembles the real thing. Actually yeah. If they needed to work on one thing about the aesthetic, it was the aliens. Individually, a lot of them were good. But they were all gross. Don't get me wrong. I love disgusting aliens but Star Wars also had a lot of pleasant looking or even beautiful aliens under George Lucas. With the sequels they made them all gross.

Even though you have shit and cringe taste and anyone showing any interest in the sequel trilogy disgusts me, I will give you a tip that was passed down to me. Ask your mom for a bottle of her clear nailpolish and paint the inside of the helmet where the stud connects with a very thin layer. Let it dry, try to attach it to the head. If it is still loose, repeat the process. I have done this with Classic Space helmets and minifigure heads that slip off the neck.

Pledge floor polish for me. Dries clear and rock-hard, but dissolves with a little bit of window cleaner. If you're careful, you can also dip scratched transparent pieces into it and when it dries the piece will look less scratched.
