There's a minifig with a prosthetic leg in a new city set. New parts are cool and all, but don't these people (amputees, in this case) ever get tired of the pandering?
Even if you had a prosthetic leg irl, you would probably just wear pants over it and a lego figure """representing""" you would just have regular legs.
I realize they just want to be inclusive but isn't creating special parts for people with physical abnormalities just creating more distinction and needless separation between "normals" and "them"? Isn't that counterintuitive, even if you get to be a special snowflake?
That's like if I wanted lego to make legs that are a bracket's thickness shorter than normal legs because I'm 5'8". They're little plastic people, no one gives a shit.

Every time new sets are shown off I hope for something interesting but I keep getting disappointed.
City at least has some neat stuff, glad trains are back for those fans. Ninjago's looking a bit too juniorized with massive, chunky parts anymore (and the Bionicle G2 issue of way too much gold)

As someone who's disabled myself, albeit mentally, I really don't give a shit. Characters who have prosthetic limbs are cool, after all nobody ever complained about Luke Skywalker being prosthetic pandering.
Whatever pisses me off is Lego putting wheelchairs and "disabled access" into sets, especially when they ignore stuff that regular people need like stairs or toilets.

It's not pandering. People who are differently-abled need to be recognized in the spirit of inclusivity. Here's the thing. I love huge castles. But I'm more interested in what a new castle subtheme could bring to the table. I can easily moc a castle if I have enough pieces. I can bricklink minifigs to army build. But that is for me. As an adult. Children by and large aren't going on BL to find pieces. They are receiving gifts from their parents who purchased new lego sets from major retailers. So that's pretty much it for most kids interested in castles. If they want to play with knights, they are better off asking for action figures or playmobil because lego in the current year isn't going to give them that outside of a single 3 in 1 set valued at $100. Yeah it's good for me but where is the kid's intro set to castle? What if a kid's parents aren't going to spend more than 60 dollars on a present?

So I had some stuff in the cart of a Bricklink store, that I had been holding off ordering because I was waiting until my next pay day. Anyway, pay day has come, so I went to make the order, only to find that store was suspend a couple of weeks ago for "Violation of BrickLink's Term's of Service"

I've looked through all the other stores that sell the parts I was going to get from the suspended store. There was one part in particular that I wanted, that was the whole basis of the order and I want 20-30 of it. The suspended store was selling this part for AU$3.50 and had a couple of hundred of them in stock. The cheapest store now, is selling them for AU$4.50 and only has 100 of them, but is selling them in multiples of 100. So if I go for the cheapest store currently, not only am I paying $1 more for each piece, I'm also paying for more then I actually want and on top of that, shipping will cost twice as much then from the suspended store. The next store is selling the part for over AU$7, but only has 2 of them in stock. They also have a minimum buy of AU$75 at there store. The next store after that has over 70 of the part in stock, but wants AU$8 each.
Another part is readily available in dozens of stores, a lot for cheaper, but I also want 20+ of it and no other store has more then 10 of them for within the same price range.

So, IF it is possible that this store might be unsuspended, I would rather buy from it and get the quantity I want for a good price, instead having too pay too much and run around to multiple stores.

If a store is suspended for scamming buyers, BL lists the reason as "Three or more Completed NSS/NRS" (pic related). The store I was going to buy from is listed as "Violation of BrickLink's Term's of Service".
Now the store in question has a positive feedback of just shy of 99.9% from almost 14k orders. The most recent non-positive feedback is a couple of neutrals from the last year that are basically "order arrived missing a single piece, got refund" or "Received used part instead of new, given refund" or "Parcel took 3 months to arrive at bumbfuck nowhere". I've also bought from this store in the past with no issue and further more if there were, I sure as fuck wouldn't waste my time whining about it on /lg/.

What's your experience with taking apart old sets?
When I was younger I had the Café Corner, Market Street and the Green Grocer. When I lost interest in lego we put them in a cardboardbox.
I've now dug them out again. They are in good shape but have some dust and gunk on them. I want to take them apart and clean all the parts but I fear that some pieces might break.

If I had to guess, violating terms of service could mean listing parts that were never officially released in a set (or otherwise officially distributed by lego in some way), that's what I've seen some stores closed down over. I have only seen stores get punished for items such as the transparent minifigures / headgear so far, but it could be anything really.

Stores with hundreds of older semi valuable / rare items like you mentioned sometimes get their hands on weird older stock, and lego doesn't always like them being sold (this is one major downside to BL being owned by LEGO now, imo).

They have deleted random minifigure listings of mine because I said in the description it was incomplete (like stating it was missing the cape and selling it cheaply).

They have really tightened up on what you can list according to their terms and service.

How old? In my Alpha-1 Rocket Base the yellow transparent bricks have some cracks, but if we are talking about modulars, most of them are still in great condition. Only some brown plates have broken in the Palace Cinema, but they can break if you look at them wrong.

To scratch the residential / comfy building itch I wanted to do a fabuland dollhouse that hinged open like this.

I feel you on the collecting parts for years to make a MOC. I've been collecting bricks to make a giant aquazone base / seascape since I was like.. actually 10 years old. I always buy tidbits of yellow supports and transparent blue panels if a store has them. Sadly at this point the limiting factor is space and effort rather than parts, though.

That's unfortunate, if they had a bunch of non-production stuff they likely dinged the store for that.

A stipulation of re-opening the store may be to remove all "unapproved" listings, if they can re-open at all. In such a case, you may have to ask if they'll put it on brickowl or ebay or something, but offering to buy directly offsite using BL as a messenger is also against terms of service (but should be fine to ask if they have online stores elsewhere).

This bums me out too because I loved collecting weirdly colored production oddities. Lots of stores still sell non-production color parts without issue, but anything minifig related seems to be very/overly scrutinized.

I don't think I'd use it to expand the existing one anyway, picrel is how mine is currently set up and I'm in no rush to expand it at the rate we're getting suits, but i agree it's needlessly bothersome not to make them match. Total bullshit if they're not even compatible at all. I love that were still getting suits but this is the most shameless of cash grabs. The $50ish for the original with three new suits was a reasonable ask, I'd be much happier if it continued at that rate. Can't believe I'm going to spend $90 for one suit and two stickered panels that look to be in yet another new style, not matching the others

all my houses are dollhouses now as i finally gave them the same depth in interior so you can pick them up and put stuff inside
even my not pictured diner the roof can now easily come off

was a bit of an investment, but they were impossible to get out as they were all connected to eachother and didn't make use of space well
especially if you like moving around your lego stuff it's great to get more out of them and mix up your displays instead of having empty buildings and dedicated roomboxes
you might as well use that space inside that makes it more fun and easily handleable

i'm awful at it, please dont stop yourself from posting pics when you do anon

Yeah, finding castle bricks without paying a fortune is very difficult right now. Lots of old and new castle use giant molded pieces which I dislike, so just finding blocks in grey is difficult. Grey is often overtly expensive for lots of parts too, because there's star wars and military fans constantly piecing things together from it. For some reason, every modern castle has been tan. Hoping the new anniversary set gives me even more to work with.

I'm deciding yet to either do it wolfpack or forestman theme since I have 20+ of each faction and want a semi-abandoned / overgrown look. I bought a creator tree house to build a tree growing out the side of it.

I probably have 20k+ parts just from odd bricklink orders, ebay lots and buying sets to resell the figs and keep the bricks.

In Canada too and don't even have a local lego store. Even a third party one where I could look through parts without having to ship in stuff would be great. Shipping rates are insane here right now.

That's what I did for the mark 2 and 3 but I like a lot of the smaller builds surrounding this set and realistically the cost of buying a model without minifigs, then the suit I want, and shipping for those, I'm as well just getting the set and selling off the minifigs I don't care about to make some money back that way

I forget the name of the set but it was a non-mcu based one from maybe 2017? It had a hydra submarine with red skull and a captain America in scuba gear. Released alongside another comic spaceship set with captain marvel and thanos, which had the space armour. They're not technically from mcu sets but they're very clearly based on the marks 37 and 39(?) from the mcu so I considered them worth picking up
