There is nothing wrong with that arm setup. The inner torso is made up of two pieces, there is a torso joint that is covered by a rubber overlay. Because they are successfully trying to keep the sculpt of the torso intact as well as providing options for reuse. It is cheaper to do the rubber overlay than sculpt a whole new torso any time you need to.
Apparently you don't understand this, but plastic does not have the same give that flesh and clothing do. Some visual concessions have to be made on a TOY to make it work physically.
If you did it the other way around and cut into the torso, then the inside buck would no longer function with the torso articulation as you've suddenly got a big divot on either side, which fucks up options for reuse. Now be a good little imbecile and eat a cookie or something.
