Arcee's original design just can't be done without giving her a backpack.

I want to see a version of her in the vein of this redesign, in the sense of taking the original altmode, and integrating more of it into the robot mode.

Putting aside the quality of the source material, I actually really like that design. Though my favourite Arcee design is still Animated. The backpack is a sensible size and very clean, and thanks to the "bell-bottoms" transformation on the legs the robot mode is really slick. Shame about the thumbs.

We just had 3-4 years of really good pricing for our economy and now it's moved to typical.
Last time this happened, hasbro focused on keeping the price point by making the toys smaller/weigh less, i.e. tf prime.
That didn't do well, so this time they're raising prices but giving us a little more complexity for our buck

You got your history all mixed up there. Prime saw price raises, and they have steadily gone up throughout the 10s which was highly annoying with the lower quality following over a decade of $9.99 Deluxes that steadily increased in quality and or material. It may be more in line with "actual" inflation, but the steady rise in prices every few years sucks. Especially for older fans who remember paying less than a Deluxe's price for Voyagers back in 2009.

Considering Arcee's cartoon design is the definition of "so absurdly impossible to string the robot and alt mode together without making a triple digit figure", I welcome that.
The fact that the best thing to do with ER Arcee is to chop her car kibble off and buy a third party kit to give her minimal kibble like her cartoon design, and then leaving her car kibble as the hollow mess that it is shows how fucking shit it is to just go for picture-perfect toon accuracy.
It's the exact reason why Arcee keeps, not only shelf warming, but shelf ROTTING in ER AND Kingdom. I'll be legitimately impressed if SS86 Arcee sells even somewhat decently.

I'm not one of the detractors, I think he looks great, but to be generous, the wheels are all missing from the arms and hips, the car cockpit is a different shape, the car fins are on his shoulders , the car nose doesn't go down his torso all the way and the rotor obviously is missing, I expect there will immediately be an add-on kit for the rotor or at least designs in the 3d printer marketplace for that

overall I think its just people bitching over nothing, still clearly looks like the character to me, but if you wanted to get aggressively nitpicky the differences are there

Neat, I like that they kept it simple with hip wheels and bumper crotch (the alternate crotch panel makes me laugh)

Shame they didn't work in knees, but I'm sure someone will pump out a buildable mod within 48 hours of this set landing in people's hands

i always have these desires to trick out my old lego sets and make them into robots, and i've even bought a variety of joint parts from those 'just buy the parts you want' sites... but trying to arrange legos into stable limb segments is fucking harrowing, and I rarely have that kind of mental energy. i got this iron man mech thing and it's just okay, and this thing intended to represent molten man, that needed a ton of work to get it to my standards. Was kinda hoping these guys would teach me how to mech-ify old kits but really they've just showed me why it's so hard

Rodimus' joints only let him open the matrix. Usually my figures held guns, or melee guys had ball-jointed wrists anyway, so I didn't really think too hard about this. Also good description on the wrists, that definitely did help, I didn't think that little range of motion would be so beneficial to melee wielding.
