I used to pretend this set was some sort of UNSC vehicle, like the Falcon. Because the big vehicle sets were always too expensive for me back then, and some of Mega’s Iron Man stuff had this for cheap.

I still had some actual Halo vehicle sets, but for some reason, back then, and close to where I lived, the UNSC air/space vehicles were the most expensive/hard to find.

This movement series is cool, but I wonder how popular they'll be. It's understandable that they won't have be able to be separated from the base, but these are bit sets (this one and Pikachu). Interested to see it in motion though.

It's certainly an interesting direction to take as far as the line goes, the more complex builds and name plates point towards it being targeted to an older audience, which makes sense considering it's harder to sell things to kids with Mega's current crappy distribution. I'm interested but I'm worried we're only going to see two or three releases before the line shifts direction yet again.
Btw, the Amazon UK pages have videos of the two sets in action although they don't really have the best views

From the videos Pikachu seems to work quite a bit better. Gyarados seems a bit stiff. An automated way of achieving movement would be a nice, but I don't think Mega has anything like Lego's motors.

Pikachu looks great in terms of both likeness and movement. Gyarados doesn't look as good and it looked like it was struggling a bit to move. Pretty cool direction to go.

I see this as a negative. That means they know they can jack up the price and not have to worry about it. Toy companies are at their best when they make toys for kids that adults happen to enjoy.

Wonder if it was just the presentation? While Pikachu moved very fluidly, I noticed the person turning the crank on Gyarados in the vid was hesitating and stumbling. Perhaps that's why the head and waves seemed so janky, but the tail moved fluidly in one of the shots.

Knowing there won't be anymore study COD hands/height makes me a little sad. This is one of those toylines in a couple of years you'll see shoot in value. The modularity of guns and all the equipment that comes for different types of vest/vackpacks is just way too advanced for this timeline.
Mega still being alive as a company baffles me.
Wondering if they will do a line with COD molds or if it was exclusive in their deal with activision?

considering how generic most of the parts are I wouldnt be surprised to see them return as part of some generico line released a few years down the road. I still remember when mega recycled halo bodies for their TASM line.

Put together bone shaker and a pokemon. The truck itself was a nice build. The monster truck base was a bit boring to build, but is kind of cool with it's suspension/axles when attached to the truck. The figure isn't bad and most of it's parts are compatible, however the legs aren't. Strangely, there were no extra parts left over. Hope the lack of extra parts isn't a new trend.

The pokemon wasn't bad little build, but didn't really stand out either. Was missing 1 1x1 round grey stud for the terrain but the set came with over a dozen extra parts, so no major loss. The terrain build did remind me that the older cod & halo sets used to all come with some little terrain build... I loved that. Kinda took the wind out of my sails to build more this weekend. Both sets are good for parts at least.

Does anyone remember/still have Mag Warriors? I’ve been trying to remember the guy I had as a kid; I know he had some sort of horned helmet, had glowing red eyes, and spiky shoulder armor. I think I narrowed my search down to these two guys, but neither of them have the shoulder armor.

Just a brief research into Mega, found from their own site and other internet searches.
Mega current marketing tagline; "As the proud no. 2 in construction, we forge our own path and challenge expectations..." At least they are not delusional to their market status.
Mega/Mega Construx (Wonder Builders & Probuilders lines) is currently marketing on there own site: Pokémon, Hot Wheels, Barbie, Halo, Motu, and Black Series.
Some history:
1967-Ritvik Holdings is created, a Canadian toy distributor
1984- Ritvik introduces the Mega Brands toy line to Canada and the U.S
1991- Launched “micro” brick (standard sized construction bricks) Lego vs Mega lawsuit fun for years. Note: Mega Brands has won 14 cases launched by competitor Lego regarding its Mega Bloks.
2008-now: Halo (note: product usually appears on shelf about 1 year after... not a bad turnover time)

Looks like they are doing the same thing with The Witcher.
The obvious and smart move would to use some of their existing molds and have singles of Geralt, Yen, Ciri, some kinds of small monsters - Leave Vessimir for the "Master Builders" with the Griffon Hunt.

There are some things I noticed when putting this together. Look at the IPs, they are mostly licensed and for little children. Looking around the site, it seems more geared toward parents of small children. While obvious/no shit Sherlock, megas primary demographic is the parents of small children, not most of us. Also, mega seems to shy away from it's own IPs, as less marketing would be required for an existing one. While I don't think mega will be going away any time soon, I do think if they lost pokemon or halo licenses that they wouldn't jump to replace it immediately. I could be wrong, as this is just conjecture. I do hope that they at least continue to do more "adult" IPs and continue use of their existing figure molds. I really hope they will put out their own cool IP and market the hell out of it. I do think that they will continue to do limited runs of new licensed IPs like they have in the past. I doubt they would get rid of micro action figures entirely, as they have a vast catalog of existing parts and moulds.

There are 28 sparrows in the pic. Couldn't tell you how many Destiny sets I've bought over the years as I keep a lot packed up to conserve space. Still have at least the tank and an arcadian jumpship in box. Most were found at clearance stores for cheap. At the clearance pricing, I purchased quite a few sets just for parts. I also prefer the longer destiny and cod arms for my MH girls, so body harvesting, too.

They are the #2 seller in construction, and I don't think they would dump mega due to lack of adult collector interest. I'd also assume they sell their products outright, rather than consignment, so they get paid whether or not the product sells on store shelves. While it is very hyperbolic, lego quality has gone down. See cracking issues on minifigs as but one easy example, sure there are others to be found with a simple search. Lego has been pushing an idea to make a biodegradable plastic, not sure how far along they are with that. Most of my lego is old to ancient and still of very good quality. But haven't bought a lego set in probaly 5 years, so I can't really give first hand knowledge about their current quality.

Hey there! Did anyone here have a rubbery piece harden and break?
I'm mostly concerned about the plasma rifles I have. I know Mega used harder plastic at the start but moved to rubbery for some reason.
I know this kind of plastic hardens over time and gets more brittle, but I wonder if it will break apart on it's own or just trough force.

Well, spoilers for that godawful Halo show made by Hollywood writers who never even played the games.

Among many, many of the other weird decisions, they decided to kill off Master Chief in the very first season and have Cortana take control of him like a neat puppet. I’m not sure if he stays dead, or if he’s somehow revive or something, since I’ve never personally watched the show, just seen some stuff posted on places. Apparently Not-Atriox-But-Still-Somehow-Atriox smashes him up against a wall and it kills offbrand Master Chief and gheb offbrand Cortana goes “Well now I guess I can do this” and makes knockoff Chief do the most action he’s done out of the entire show, expect its bit actually him, since he’s dead and she’s just controlling his dead body. Offbrand Chief, in an earlier episode, also has sex with a Covenant member, who is a human woman, for some reason, and Cortana watches the whole thing, as if it’s like some sort of cuck thing.

I’m not even making this up.

And another scifi universe gets raped to death. For the real fans, anything made after Halo: Reach isn't canon anyway. While I enjoyed a lot of H4's campaign, its very existence cheapened the feels of H3's ending and opened the door to the hot garbage that was 5 and beyond, thus it can have "legends" status at best.

I actually kind of feel like, aside from the odd choices here and there and such, if some things played out differently, some of the main plot points in Halo 4 could’ve been a good way to cap off the “Master Chief” story in Halo, if he were to get an expanded epilogue. Of course, in this hypothetical, he still might be realeRed here and there, so that players/readers can know how whereabouts. Like, then reviving Cortana and making her one of the cliche “the ends justify the trillions dead” kind of villains is sucky.

Like, maybe if they had done what they were planning on doing, with the Ur-Didact being the main antagonist of the Reclaimer Saga (which was dumped, since Halo Infinite has nothing to do with that) but each time he reappears he’s more damaged and more machine each time to the point where it’s questioned if he’s even still “alive”, which would’ve been an interesting “parallel” between Chief and Cortana, in a way.

I kind of got off track there for a bit.

Yeah, plenty of "what if they'd done X instead" to go around. Part of the problem is Halo as a universe grew too big, became too successful for its own good and Microsoft/343 opted to milk it for every drop they could. We keep seeing it happen, I mean Star Wars is just the most obvious example.

In their older game series, marathon, the cyborg soldiers were dead soldiers reanimated to continue battle with powered up bodies. in fact going back to halo ce the guy who thaws out chief from his cryo chamber has a screen that says "awaken the sleeping husk" or something like that. now obviously chief aint dead (in the canon timeline) but Im sure this was a nod by bungie. bungie put A LOT of marathon references in halo

As far as I know, yes, only those 2 were made by mega. The more articulated (and newer) one is superior in all ways but one. The wings are the same rubber or silicon that has a habit of failure that >>9837633 mentioned. Mine haven't ripped apart yet on the charzard, but every GOT dragons wings (on the smaller, breakout beast style) has ripped apart on their own. If (and probably when) they do, I'll swap the hard plastic ones from the 1st one. I've also had tank treads and a handful of accessories >>9837633 mentioned along with 'clothing' (from destiny, mostly) fail too.

And maybe they wanted to make some or Cortana’s wordings in the Cortana Letters make a little sense, with her sometimes using cryptic phrasing’s instead of outright saying something. Since Cortana went through a few rewrites before the game came out. Bungie themselves even poked fun at the Cortana Letter’s ambiguity in-story in the Halo: CE Developer Commentary (either that, or it was the Halo 2 Dev Commentary, since I’m pretty sure that they recorded them back to back to get the recordings done and out the door ASAP).

At one point, they also had plans to make Cortana turn evil after being in the Halo Control Room console for so long, but then they later scrapped it because they thought the idea of an evil Cortana was dumb upon looking at the storyboards again (but, for some reason, 343i thought it was a good idea...)

Anon who was asking about the Charizard a few posts up. I ended up getting the Charmander Evolution Set, and it showed up today! They're actually pretty cool - while Charizard has some nice articulation, I was surprised that Charmeleon was almost just as flexible despite its size; Charmander's a bit stiff, which is unavoidable due to its size, but it's grown on me - it actually looks better in-hand than it does in the renders. Also, the base /setpiece that comes with them is pretty neat - I like how the rocks have little lava flows cascading down the sides, plus there's three big flame pieces to play around with.
The same person who was selling the three pack was also selling a Galarian Ponyta set, so I grabbed that too - sadly, I didn't realize until after I had emptied all of the polybags and started building it that it's face print was messed up (it's left eye was double-printed, having one eye on top of the other, while its right eye was never printed on at all). It's cheap enough that I can just order a new one, but I kinda wish there was some sort of Bricklink equivalent for Mega - there's nothing wrong with the rest of the set, I just need a new face for it with proper prints.
Whatever the case, the Charizard was worth chasing down, so thanks for the recommendation!

Pic related, got an evil Spock with misaligned beard in the transporter room set and they replaced it for me, though I had to go through Mattel's customer service cuz the Trek sets weren't in Mega's replacement system for some reason.

I actually tried that first - for some reason, it says the part is 'unavailable'. Removing the dashes from the part number gets a different response ('the part is invalid'). Even copy/pasting the part number from the PDF they provide comes back as unavailable, so it looks like I'm just going to have to go ahead and order a new set. Thank you for the help, though.

I got into mega last year right as Mega Halo was still in Walmart and bought a mongoose set. I really like mega, but I wish they could license more stuff. Since they have a grip on Pokemon I was hoping that they'd lean into other Nintendo franchises but Lego Super Mario gives me the impression any remaining franchises will probably be licensed by Lego instead.

I think I'm done with MEGA.
No more TMNT or other licences.
New HALO sets have new cool parts but the builds seem way more dumbed down.
No more Destiny, or anything like that. Oh and,

It fell from grace. I am sick and tired of constantly checking stores for the same Pokemon shit over and over.
This company had the most potential, in fact, it was doing so great.

this certainly does seem to be the case. although the shit state of the economy does make me worry for their future. That said alot of this is incredibly reminiscent of the short abscence they had between the late aughts and the early 2010s. Like now, it seemed like they were heavily reliant on halo at the time. Then we got to taste the 2012-2016 golden age. Im holding out some hope for a second wind, but I wont hold my breath for it either. That said I do hope they are holding onto the tmnt license quietly in anticipation for the upcoming reboot. It really seemed as though tmnt was a good seller for them. Atleast more so than minions or spongebob.
Part of me still wonders what future IPs are in store for them. We're stuck at such a strange crossroads what with all these in house licenses.

DBZ, OPM, hero academia, the boys, and invincible are all still up for grabs after all. They certainly have enough of a library of parts to cover alot of those characters too. Skeletor would fit well in the Purple Passion. It's a solid build in halo covenant purple, came with extra parts/no parts were missing, nice detailing, all parts printed/no stickers. The "new" Barbie line was horrible.
They should have doubled down on Barbie in the style of Monster High with small monster girl sets to play with both.
They lost CoD.
Witcher is probably going to be a one shot.
They don't have any sort of themed Ip of there own.
"kidding" the figures down probably also drops adult (and more) sales.

This isn’t happening and I have no idea what you’re even talking about. I can’t even tell you if those sets shelfwarm because I’ve never seen them in stores. Like, I’m not even sure if that one training course or that fire station set came out—that was years ago.

I keep hoping. The dolls recently got a revival, so there's a chance. Though knowing Mega, they'll do something aggravating like switch up the scale of the sets.
