It might also be to help make a nice clean separation between the bandana and the lower half of the head instead of the slight merging that happens at the top of the bandana and scalp. I would assume it would also be for painting purposes but Michelangelos famous orange slop was on the bottom half for multiple people so I doubt they were painting the top half before assembly.

By your logic we should be embarrassed for buying any toy at retail. At least most people can lean to nostalgia for these 2 properties. No toy has any real intrinsic value unless you want it. They don't serve a real purpose outside of one's enjoyment.

And I got a Ralph back when these molds were new. It really isn't a bad figure. And the SF ones look ok as well. The Cobra Kai figures were an extremely weak effort in comparison.

Well until I can get the leds in the mail, which is looking to be mid-July, I can't put the top layer of the water on, still though I think it looks pretty good for my first attempt on a diorama since I was a kid.

The mold's been used to the ground along with the g1 turtles (at least some weird dumbed down repro of it). Playmates isn't really putting that much effort like Neca or S7 or literally anyone else who gets to give it a go, but they're the original company that did the line.

Those two are a great example of the new regime and their talents. Good thing the TMNT line is now under "new Management" with Trevor and Paul helming it instead of randulf. I trust them to deliver a perfect cartoon April that's both show accurate and in scale. Sculpting females have never been one of NECA's strong suits. Aside from recent figures, they've had an awful history of butchering female sculpts. I don't need an April 2.0 to be swappable into a fish version, I just want a good April. But if they are able to double dip, then that's a bonus for sure.

I don't know if they could have made them any thinner without, like, making them just clear pieces and then painting around the rim..
naw I'm looking at some screencaps, and this guy was all over the place (sometimes he had fuckin rock n' roll hair, sometimes just this little "einstein before he lost the hair on top" look)
it looks like they painted the line of the lower lip instead of sculpting it as an actual lip, and they made the eyes too small, and the eyebrows too close together. The jowl lines look right, the ears are at least close, and I think the nose is too pointy at the tip but it might be the shadows of the glasses throwing it off.
I can't find any fullbody references, but it looks to me like the legs are scaled down too far. Like he's short but he's not THAT short.
you guys want me to maybe photoshawrp how I think this figure should've looked or does nobody care

At first I did but then I remembered that the monster hunter thing was added in later media, in the original book he just hunted a vampire who we are all assuming to be Shredder.

every 1-2 months they update the page and it usually gets changed so 0-1 crates says "SHIPPED!" and everything else just gets it's eta extended to the next month, rinse and repeat.

The 2012 line was a gigantic success for them. The first batches of figures came in huge 24 figure case packs and sold through over and over and over. I remember we couldn't keep them in stock.

But Playmates did what they always do, the line kept going but they got lazier and lazier with it. Until they were barely putting effort in and the line kind of petered out with several unreleased figures.

I know back in the old days there used to be like that weird kid that played with the NES controller upside down, fingers pressing the buttons underneath, but
the normal way to play games is 95% with your thumbs, and the remaining stuff with your pointer finger on the shoulder buttons. The remaining fingers don't have any job to do besides holding the controller, which you could easily do as a ninja turtle with the one remaining finger, unless it's the wiiu monster heavy controller.
I GUESS maybe some people use their middle finger on the further-to-the-bottom shoulder button, but I switch between the two with pointers. except I guess in those rare cases where you're meant to hit both at once, what games ever have that? it might be like, the activation for some jrpg special move. But a big turtle fing could do that easily enough.
