No broken pieces, yeah they've changed at least a little for the better. Several of the pieces, especially that big rounded one, have the rough and stained look of cheaper legos, par for the course.

Cute little build, very tight clutch which is why they're called Best-Lock I guess, feels locked together when finished. Was a bit miffed that the fig doesn't come with legs. Overall it's the best set of theirs I've had, though it's not saying a lot. Can certainly do better on Ali and elsewhere for cheap legos.

This is the VONADO Enterprise. TLDR: Not recommended. Overpriced, meh quality, missing pieces and bad design.

For $18 burgerbux, I expected more... anything. Quality isn't bad, but nor is it good. Was missing 2 pieces, but had others extra. The design is flimsy and ended up using more block to shore it up. Won't be buying this brand again.

I believe Vonado is more than a reseller.
They buy bricks in bulk, and sell these.
But they also sell Mocs made from said bricks.

Their bricks in itself are ok, as Anon above experienced. I ordered some pieces from there myself a while ago (1,5years or so). It was ok. Not perfect, not catastrophic..

Never tried their MOCs, as the topics usually do not interest me that much. But if the design is bad to beginn with, and the bricks are "just ok", then it sucks.

I stumbled onto this one via youtube. It's a marvelous set, honestly the more asian brick sets I come across the more jelly I get. There was a license chinese optimus prime set released a few years ago that put the latest lego one to shame. I cant recall the brand though.

The 66 Brand Optimus Prime? I think that was unlicensed. There are only a couple of licensed Optimus Prime sets released in China. There were the Kre-O sets. Another one was from Qunlong to tie in with the China-exclusive TF series. Then ther was the Technic-style set from Xiaomi. I'm not aware of any others, however.

As good as the 66 Brand OP llooks, it sacrifices tranformability for those looks. I can understanrd how that could be a dealbreaker for most.

Chinkpill me on those baseplates. They're pretty fucking big and I know from experience that Chinks can sometimes step or just pile down the packages when there's too many of them. Also depends on seller (once had a retard that didn't use bubble wrap, everything was annihilated).
I always use Aliexpress standard shipping btw if that makes a difference
So... does anyone have any experience buying those camouflage baseplates from Aliexpress?
Did you receive them in one piece?
How is the quality?
Did some of them broke over time? Have you ever ripped out of a piece of the baseplate together with a brick that was stuck?

Despite being a Polish company the bricks quality is very good, at least on par with Lego in most respects (Sherman and lower right Tiger are Cobi models). Many do not care for their minifig design but I wouldn't call that a dealbreaker.

I think the bricks are great...maybe even too good. I put in a tile the wrong way once (printed piece so the direction mattered) and even with my Lego separator it was a pain in the ass to get it free. Way harder than any Lego build I've taken apart.

Thats a common issue with off brands, the connection strength between pieces tends to be all over the place from loose, about to fall off, to stuck together so tight it might as well be super glue.

I'd rather have too tight than too loose (har) though. I'm not planning on making any MOCs with these (although I have been tempted to give my PzIV side skirts from the Ausf. H) and they display amazingly on the shelf so I don't complain too much.
The minifigs are indeed hideous though, but I've just replaced them with Lego minifigs.

While the torso and legs are a bit oddly shaped, it's really the faces that are fucked up.
You can replace them entirely as I suggested earlier, but don't forget that Cobi pieces are Lego compatible. I've gotten away with swapping out the cursed head with a Lego head. The results aren't half bad in my opinion, especially if you put them inside the vehicle alike so.
(Sorry it isn't clearer, my phone camera is shit.)

Good question. I just tried it and the Lego hand goes two-thirds of the way in before it gets tight.
You might be able to force it in, but I didn't want to risk getting the part stuck. It seems to be getting caught on the little ridge below the wrist so if you're open to some heresy you could sand that down.
Alternatively you could try getting away with having dudes with extra long arms/ill fitting jackets.

I very, very rarely if ever change out Lego minifig arms so it never occurredto me to replace the arms entirely.

Lego made a Doctor Who set for Dimensions and for Ideas. Prior to that, Cobi made a number of Doctor Who sets under the Character Building brand.

The sprue marks on the dark bricks are noticeable up close, many can be hidden in the build, but others can't. None have bothered me yet. Your results may vary.

You can actually use tamiya cement to hide some sprue marks by placing a tiny dab of cement on the mark and let it sit. Cement works by melting the plastic with chemicals, and if you do it right, the sprue mark will fade a little due to it being white like a stress mark, and the cement relaxes the plastic atoms so the stress mark regains its color.

The bootleg technic McLaren F1 from AliExpress arrived a few days ago. For a first-time bootleg build it went as expected. There are no mold marks for part numbers or copyright - obviously - and there were a few parts with lots of mold flash that needed to be pared with a knife. The ABS is overall much-shinier and in some cases appears ever-so-slightly translucent. Color-matching was within expected tolerance, which is to say actually pretty good. Clutch tolerances are straight-up bad and inconsistent across the many different combinations of pieces; some pieces deathgrip together and others sign a prenup. That was also expected but did lead to a very painful assembly/disassembly.

Ultimately, my plan is to put the pins, axles, and pieces with obvious mold-differences like beams into a forever-storage bin, and lightly incorporate the more-covert pieces like frames and panels into my Lego builds. I'm not terribly obsessed about using authentic pieces but the molding on the beams is too much of a leap. Not too bad for 25 bucks.

Sluban will probably be cheaper but some of their parts have a soft clutch that will struggle to stay together, especially if it's a fragile connection even with Lego. Dunno why you would want such an evollutionary dead end tank but I'd probably go with Sluban for the lower cost and better minifigs.

Let's see... added a hinged top, more frills, better head room inside, a minigun, 4 rocket launchers, twin forward fixed cannons, minor engine modifications, jet propulsion booster and side view mirrors. Speaking of Cobi, did this setup yesterday (inspired by that scene from Fury where the Shermans are rescuing those pinned down GIs) and then randomly checked Amazon Canada for any Cobi deals - their not-Fury set was marked down a bit so I had to order it. Well Played Toys holds the licenses to Rugrats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spongebob Squarepants, and JoJo Siwa. They produce construction sets under the "Snap & Switch" brand. Forever Clever has the licenses to GI Joe and Power Rangers. Cobi has recently made sets based on the Top Gun license. Best Lock had both Stargate SG-1 and Terminator 2. Block Tech had thenFast & Furious franchise at one point. PhatMojo had The Office license before Lego and are responsible for the current FGTeeV sets. Basic Fun had a crapton of licenses they produced under the "C3 Construction" brand. The list goes on and on, and we haven't even touched the Chinese block companies...

Got a bunch of the D&D blind bags at Dollarama some years ago, later found bundles of the sets at Canadian Tire for cheap. Don't think they were quite worth their original MSRP but there was a lot of good stuff to them. I wonder if trying to compete too closely with Lego was part of their downfall, trying to price comparatively but largely ending up on deep discount/clearance anyway. They gambled on some odd licenses too (Battleship movie, Abrams Trek).

I do think think this was a major contribution to Kreo's failure. It was the first theme to hit shelves, and then the movie tanked. I feel like Hasbro was really banking on the movie to drive sales. The other factor wws that Kreo was entirely licenses with the exception of like three value buckets. They needed to give Kreo an identity outside of IPs.

Transformers was their first theme, came out a year before Battleship but yeah they were way too focused on IPs. D&D was still generic enough to pass for a castle theme but by then it was too late really. Real shame cuz I quite enjoy what I was able to find of the line.

I picked up a bunch of those army-builder sets from the Battleship line after they turned up at Dollarama for cheap. While I personally find them to be quite fun I can also see how they weren't going to have much of a chance against Mega's CoD line. Mega opted for more realism versus Kre-O trying to sell itself as a Lego-like that would make army toys, albeit licensed ones. Mega had already done this in the past with limited success; the innovations brought by their Halo line put an end to those older offerings and Mega hasn't really looked back since.

GI Joe hasn't been the juggernaut it once was in the 80s-90s, particularly after the reboot movies underwhelmed and divided the fanbase. Most Joes fans probably just want more of what they grew up with/are used to, not a plastic building blocks line that won't fit in with anything they already had, while the younger generations simply didn't care enough about the new Joe movies to buy in.

I think if they were committed to IP-heavy offerings they should've tried a Star Trek line that covered the older shows and not just the Abrams movies, which themselves sputtered out after the novelty of the first one wore off and Into Darkness fizzled. Instead they let Mega have a go with their limited TOS and TNG stuff (equally regrettable we never got more or anything from DS9).

I've just realized I never actually posted about the baseplates.
They are great. Bendable and durable enough to survive the Chinese warehouse.
The print is high quality though you should check what color is the baseplate first. This "moon" print works well because baseplate itself is dark grey. On the other hand most printed baseplates are white. I've recently bought some green baseplates with printing too.
Will post them when I get them

Proudly race mixing /lg/ here, I need an equivalent to this. Ideally in a dark earthy color, but less vibrant greens are acceptable. There’s some on eBay in interesting colors, but they’re all oddly expensive for some reason. I intend to use them for tall grass in fields and shit.

I'm interested in lego alternatives. But the more I look into it, the more I feel like sticking with lego.
I heard shady stuff about Bluebrixx although they have some cool sets. And Xingbao and Sembo outright steal designs from lego and mocers.

Xingbao has licensed AFOL designs for their sets in the past. This is the first time I've heard of them stealing designs (although I wouldn't be surprised that it happens). As far as Lego is concerned, is it really stealing if they make the designs avwilable for free? In both cases, you're really paying for the parts not the design.

I have a fair amount of them, mostly from the first couple years. Not into Poke but there were dry spells of new Halo and CoD and every so often the Poke sets were on deep discount so I figured why not. They're pretty fun builds.

The issue with BlueBrixx is that certain sets have stability issues. BB mention the Designer on their website. The sets designed from Alex seem to be the most instable. I don't know why but I guess he builds them digitally in stud.io but then doesn't do test build with actual bricks.

On the other hand sets from Marco P. are really stable and you can buy them blind without regretting it later.

I've got all three evolutions for Blastoise, Charizard and Venusaur, a handful of the smaller pokes, Snorlax, the set with all nine different Evees (haven't opened it yet), and Gyarados. That last is probably my favorite, thing is huge and looked pretty good alongside my GoT dragons. Wish I'd taken a pic, might pull them out of storage tomorrow.

Haven't got any more pics of my Poke so here's a steampunk dire wolf thing from Winner's SteamAge line - not a fan of -punk themes really but the sets were cheap and come with lots of neat stuff.

Got the QuanGuan M4A2 Sherman recently and while I'll talk about the tank itself another time (in brief, she's thicc) I wanted to highlight the minifigs that came with it. All the previous sets of theirs I've had included the standard minifig design - these are quite different.

About the only thing that wasn't redesigned in some way is the head: new points of articulation have been added to the arms and legs. They were a bit tricky to assemble but the end result is pretty fun, stands a little taller than the original fig and can now bend at the knees and shoulders.

What's the % chance of the parts being stickers?
I once bought a a ninjago Tron bike for the parts and while the Discs were printed, the rest was stickers.

After the artstyle downgrade in Halo 2, Covies are pretty much purple humans. Most of those prints look pretty scifi to me anyway.

FInally got around to it - the QuanGuan Sherman flanked by Cobi's M4A2 and M4A3E8. As you can see, she's somewhat thicc by comparison (the hull being designed with an actual interior as opposed to the Cobi tanks).

They used camo because it's an easy way of making printed baseplate that tiles in 4 directions
But then they didn't pick good colors to actually represent terrain

Must admit I was starting to tire of the fairly samey composition of those mystery packs in my last few orders. Will say that while there's a few perennials in this one (Chauchat, gangster rifle, antlers) we got some valuable items like a colt revolver, brown quiver, grey sci fi helmet and bat'leth. The "minifig parts" is a pair of Egyptian-style legs, with loincloth and sandals, probably from their Cleopatra fig, not too impressive to me but still neat I guess.

The reason it's ramped up in the last decade or so is because of rulings over trademarks (not patents) in a bunch of courts ending with the EU ruling in favor of Mega in 2010 where it was said the interlocking bricks are just a technical function and can't be trademarked.

Those were exactly my thoughts. First I did get just a frame and built my own. Then one of the cheaper boxers, and the quality of the bricks and build was pretty good. Then I got another, and another, ect... They are pricey compared to other bootlego, but I think the quality is worth it. I'm sure if lego made these, it would be double to triple the price, with only a small boost to quality.

That said, there are a few complaints to be had. A very small amount of parts have poor clutch, the joints on the titan are a bit weak for it's weight, and one was missing a part.

The Stryker w/ MTVR, I'd say is a bit overpriced. The Stryker mecha is a little smaller than some of the others, and the truck isn't particularly spectacular.

First time posting, just remembered 4chan exists and thought there could be some sorta bootlego community over here.

Had a lot of legos as a child and started buying bootlego last year, here is my medieval moc village so far. Coming together pretty slowly, building whenever I have motivation, but the buildings are also pretty large so they use a lot of blocks (i think they are about 2x the size of the lego blacksmith, which i have as bootlego aswell)

The well is based on tile.n.dye's well design that is on his instagram, and the tree is stolen from the blacksmiths set with little modifications. the porch of the house on the leftis also inspired by gr33tjes build, but other than that i just build and see what happens. obviously a lot of these kinda buildings came out after the blacksmith was announced which is definitely an inspiration too.

Update on this. Aliexpress gave me a partial refund on the smaller set even though one of the pieces outright doesn't fit with the other. I guess I'll try using the money I got back on ordering official Lego parts that will hopefully work well with the bootlego bits.

However for the larger set with that snapped plate they ruled that I should get a full refund upon returning the item. I sent it back last Thursday and they said that it'll take upwards of 30 days to get my money back for both the item and the shipping (which was over $20)

Hoping they follow through and I didn't just get scammed even more here.

They're bootleg Nanoblocks, but fairly high quality. The second one from the top left has a pretty smooth transformation with only one partsforming piece (backpack is removed from robot and becomes nose/cockpit of ship).

As Anon said, all plastic smells.
It can be harmful if you would lick and chew it alot, but assuming you are older than 2-3 years, this should not be the case.

"Playing" with some tiny plastic pieces in an adult way (ie posing some minifigures) will do nothing.
If you are super worried, place the parts on your balcony, garage or garden for 2 nights, and wash them with some degreaser (simple green for example). (+ maybe you have an ultrasonic cleaner so you can use that too)

Man, I really hope the trend of Chinks using prints on the weapons will continue.
They only made incredibly detailed prints for those Iron Man figures and their accessories, what gives.

and here's how they compare next to original LEGO™ minifigure
yellow tone is slightly darker in chink minifigs
but considering that i paid less than 2 USD for each of these, i am happy with them
