Wanna make my own take on Mr. Freeze; I'm using the Juniors fig as a base and wanna go for something reminiscent of the 2007 figure a bit. (I don't have all the parts yet, so the black plate is meant to represent the harness that the 2007 fig has), so I put together a quick shitty edit.

Which of these looks the best color-wise? I'm personally favoring either of the top row.

as for the red indian set, i can see where theyre coming from (lando only had impact enough because of starwars mainstream fame to warrant lego to chsnge to fleshies)

but the boat set of the indian mother with two kids is so adorable, sucker for weird skincolours too (fuck light flesh though, so many torsos i cant use and faceprints wasted)

There were a ton of Mario eastereggs in this game so it would make sense that they exist in the same universe. I specifically remember the mario stars, mystery blocks, and a bullet bill being put in the game. Yeah same, I didnt buy Lego for a while and when i got a police car from city theme i noticed it was a more flashy, modern yellow. It leans toward a greener, flashier "security jacket" yellow.

No, only BrickLink autists say that. Lego NEVER ONCE used the word 'Lion Knights' in the 70s, 80s, or 90s. They only refered to the faction as Crusaders. BrickLink autists only call some sets 'Lion Knights' instead because Lego hadn't stated the name (Crusaders) until a few years after the launch of the faction. Also, Black Falcon was the name of an individual knight, not the faction.

Got to the radar dish part of the Horizon set.
So that one technique that anons claim is illegal might actually be legal, it fits pretty flush for me, but I tried putting different plates there that the small piece is supposed to sit against and it seems the problem is very tiny length differences in the 1x6 plates, but still not big enough to be a big problem stressing out the pieces.

Dang bro that sucks. If there's one thing I learned about lego commerce - at least from a second-hand reseller basis - is if there's a good deal you have to act immediately. For me that moreso means getting in the car the second I hear a yard sale has lego, but for this type of thing it's the same idea. Pretty normal. Grade 6 is still a young child. I built Lego with friends around that age. Early years, I would play role playing games and make up stories with friends, around 10-13, it shifted more-so to just designing cool things or building big sets with them.

Going into high school is when I kept the hobby private since it wasn't all that conventional at the time. Now, zoomers and Lego themselves have sort of embraced it as a hobby for all ages.

Yeah, it certainly can be the case, but it its true, it also shows how corporate and easy-safe they are nowadays. It was always weird to me that almost noone from here read about lego as a company. After their late 90 early 2000 crisis (caused by producing to much new molds and unsucsesfull themes) they hired new director that restructured whole company. Lego consisted mostly of billund citizens and the whole company felt like a family buisness. He did what he do best, made the changes so that lego could earn money again. Whole thing started to manifest itself around 2010-2012 and it gets worse and worse since. They make some good things from time to time, but the whole spirit of a soulful toy got kindda lost in the tranaition from family buisness to megacorp.

It really seems like most lego themes are going to live or die by whether they can get a show with decent viewership going to promote the toys. If the buyers and viewers arent there at the scale of the Friend or Ninjago themes which have run for about a decade each (with friend spin-off), lego will throw in the towel and do something else after 2-4 seasons or 2 years.

I think what they need more than a tie in show is a genuinely decent push into the video game space, they started to probe different vidya avenues in the 90's with a wide variety of games but didn't find the success they wanted and ever since they've always been extremely half assed on the vidya front for fear of cutting their own lunch. But if done well it could be that tether that binds the two markets and drives the toy sales. LEGO World's *should* have been an excellent basis for that, but for whatever reason the development fell flat and support ceased entirely. If LEGO hadn't spent the last 30 years with it's head up it's own ass they'd have found Minecraft levels of success long ago, instead they've found themselves producing Minecraft LEGO which is ironic as fuck.

Also somewhat related, have a free fan remake of the Rock Raiders game with improved everything.

I think you're right on the money. They're scared to diversify and experiment again because they learned the wrong lessons. Late 90s Space, Technic, Town, etc had a lot of good and a lot of bad. They think they need a huge gimmick even now to market something new (see: AR features in Hidden Side and Vidiyo) when all they really need is a sound concept and some great playable sets.
They've covered so many of these ideas in the past, they could easily do it again.

The constraction or whatever the hell they called it design.
Also the totally new packaging that made the sets stick out in the toy aisles at stores. Bionicles are one of the few toys were getting the original box isn't too hard as many people kept them.
The whole mysterious story about the world of Mata Nui could be a gimmick too I suppose.
Other gimmicks included the collectible masks and such, though most of the kids I knew at the time didn't really get into that aspect. There were a few that went all in on it though.

Im postive that they have spin doctors that force gimmick ideas every meeting. They think they need to innovate lego for newer generation + every one of those managers want to shine and devise something groundbreaking so it can jumpstart their career. Thing is Lego wasnt about gimmics, older audience which consist of large % of current buyers dont look for that kind of stuff in lego. Yet, they want to create something that will caught attention of 4-14 demographics but are totaly out of touch what the kids want nowadays. 5yo want to play fortknight or some other roboblox and 1 year later it will be other stupid game. In 90 it was one wave of lego to the other with some stupid shit like yoyos, cards and figurines in between, at least in east block countries. Most kids still love lego but i get the feeling that whole "creative use" thing and lego as a perfect toy for all kids as a present are way in the past.

In a vacuum it's a really solid skyscraper with good interior builds and a few fun features. In that sense its a good set. Acknowledging the franchise and price however, it's not worth it. As another anon said you could easily recreate it with widely-available pieces if you get creative with the interiors and don't care about all the prints/stickers. Considering how we know the Mario sets and their insane gimmicks were Lego's idea and not Nintendo's, I'd be inclined to believe this. There's some kind of weird festering mentality at Lego's corporate level that thinks they need some hot gimmick to stick out, rather than just focusing on brand identity. Did the Lego Movie teach them nothing? People love LEGO, they love the idea of Lego. You make some cool shit out of it, and they'll eat it up. Course they learned that lesson wrong and that's why we have an ungodly amount of "adult" sets that probably are putting a ton of people in debt due to poor impulse control.

But I have been replacing any rubber bands when necessary with HBNR O-rings. You can get a big set of them for like 10 bucks at hazard fart. Besides being useful on actual cars, they're green and come in all kinds of sizes so they look like the rubber bands sets come with.

For train wheels I am 100% sure you can find them in black.

But, the key is to make sure they are HBNR not just regular O rings. HBNR will put up with the high stresses of being stretched (to a degree, after all they are o rings not elastic bands) but theyre very tough and resist wear.

Anyway, get you a set of HBNR O-rings and use them for everything from technic tires to train tires to actual rubber bands in some applications in MOCs

And despite not going to Legoland Florida, I also know that Lego doesn't sell or distribute licensed minifgures like that; it literally makes no sense for them to, especially when it only comes in one expensive set
We've been looking for proof and slowly finding bits and pieces of how parts leak out of factories, but I will also admit right now I have no evidence of these sellers being the ones acquiring them outside of having absurd amounts of licensed minifigs

500 years ago these kinds of accusations got people hanged or burned alive. I went and re-read his comments about the Florida minifig parts and it seems to me he added on that part like it might account for some of the Joker figs in his total but without being certain about it. He states that he amassed them through Bricklink buys, which is consistent with his claim of buying out a bunch of sellers. He never claims to have bought 500 Joker figs from Legoland Florida - that's been inferred from his mentioning the "500 torso, legs, heads, hair parts and accessories" for about $200. To me that sounds more like about 40 complete minifigs which is more consistent with Build-a-Minifig practices eh. Again since neither of us have been to Legoland Florida we can't rule out that they may have had a promo or something and those minifig parts were available by that means - they aren't TLG outright and presumably have some differences in how they operate.

He claims multiple times to have receipts for everything which really should settle the matter conclusively, if the BL admins will ever respond to it.

With no official reason given for the suspension it's a reasonable assumption as any, based on the evidence at hand.
