As far as I am aware, never in /lg/ history has anyone given advance notice "hey I'm gonna make the new thread in a few minutes, no one else do it". The good thing is you can orientate it with the palmtree parts i imagine. Also you could decorate some branches here and there with a lighter green (round 1x1s?)

Speaking of disgusting fleshfigs, I'm working on a Carrie Kelly Robin and I'm a bit stumped.

If this was a regular yellowfig I'd have a few options, but the number of fleshie female minifig heads with goggles is pretty limited, and this Ghostbusters 2016 head was the best one I could find, but now that I've got it in hand it's not working for me.

The ones from the TLBM Robin might be okay but I didn't want to use that unless I had to, and also the hair is brown when Carrie is a redhead. Any suggestions on a fleshie head that would work for this?

Also, I'm not sure about the hair. Middle is the closest in shape to her hair in the comic, but the lightest shade available is darker than I'd like.

I understand that the point was to make a nostalgic lego castle, something that ewokes the spirit of the original theme. But unless thes aimed for the single color full yellow castle from the 70s, even the 80s castle had a but more color.

And I agree with the other anon, the piece count is purposefully inflated with them not using any panel pieces for the wall.

Crap, I wanted to reply to that one post about Lego Dreamzzz being a theme based on dream scenes, to add ideas for smaller sets like Bobby Ewing taking a shower in Dallas polybag, or this webm.

you talk about the overall set with the cottage-like building and roof tiles, I more meant the design of the wall. In the old 6080 there is no large gray area its broken up with black, windows, and dark gray stone printed patterns. I feel like the new design has just too many huge uninteresting blank one-color spaces compared to the old one.

The rest of the castle has a very high level of detail, and then there's just this series of sloped bricks that goes on and on. It looks so bad and out of place, like they had a retard design part of the set for a diversity requirement. I don't understand what they were thinking. If they were trying to evoke the spirit of the old raised baseplates, they failed.

I don't see how it could be a claw or wrench because hollow stud 1x1 plates didn't exist in 2006 so the trans blue and silver 1x1 round plates cannot have a bar going through them. How would a claw or wrench fit in there?

My opinion was that the set FAILED in paying homage to the classic castle themes because the big, empty, one-color walls are unlike any lego castle ever before. "UNLIKE" not "NOT SAME". The overall style is not evoking nostalgia for me, I don't see it and go "oh yeah, this is from this classic lego castle era" the way the classic space set did.

And Its alright if you disagree with me, it's just my opinion after all your can be "I think it looks nice and makes me think of xy castle era", but NOT "you are fucking blind your retard". Literally go fuck yourself if you do that

I love the castle, Viking ship, pirate ship, and galaxy explorer that are coming out. A few weeks ago I ordered some brown car doors so I could make a station wagon and I think I'm about done. Fits four minifigs, plus a fifth in the back if you've got a big family. Otherwise lots of room in the back hatch for all your vacation stuff. Plus, if you need to sleep in your car, you can pop the window open without having to keep the hatch up!

The roomy driving cabin features a 1x2 steering wheel, two display indicator gauges, pretend stick, and period-appropriate media, although I haven't yet figured out how to best slot the cassette tape tile in sideways like it would be in a real dashboard tape deck.

Why haven't you switched to cobi yet? The quality is on par with lego, except they have zero reports of bricks of certain colors crumbling for no reason. They have done plenty of licensed sets, like Top Gun and World of Tanks, and they also do themes other than military, like castle and pirates and all that. They're based in poland, which means they follow the same toy regulations lego does. They make tones of original shapes that lego doesn't. All of their models are of uniform colors, with no rainbow soup inside them, which means building mocs from existing sets is easier already.

Yes, yellow castle (375/6075) had a bunch, along with a sticker sheet. The other two proper castle sets (tournament and knight cart) used printed shields, only yellow castle used stickers, but possibly one of the classic castle minifig packs came with an unprinted shield, don't remember, and also maybe on of those service packs that comes with weapons/helmets/etc may have. But yellow castle is the only set I know for sure

As i mentioned in deleted thread, i have their radio abrams, its slow but for 45dol was a steal. It have 4 years but still works like a new one. Having said that i prefer normal plastic, realistic models when it comes to real world military. Something about making ex. ww2 diaoramas out of kolcki with minifigures triggers my autism, its just feels wrong to me. Its not about kids expiriencing the war through klocki (not my concern), its more about using fucking child bricks and stupid looking minis to reentact very serious topic, it gets me uneasy i think. Also as stated, cobi minis are atrocious and i dont understand how could anyone prefer buying numerous tank/ships/planes klocki insted of a plastic model if theyre so into military stuff, its like lego army builders vs warhammer or any other wargaming hobbist that actualy create/paint their own stuff.

About the cost of completing a secondhand set bought online, the only exp ive had was with picrel : maybe 2 missing parts, but most of the clear ones (see on top, 2 red slopes, headlights at the front etc) were replaced by plain/solid ones. I paid 8€ originally and maybe ~12€ on a bricklink order. Meh

This build was good. Super swooshable. I also built the Mando ATST and Hoth ATST. Both have a somewhat similar build but different techniques. I can't believe Lego charged $70 for the Y-Wing at some point.

Also the Hoth ATST might still be on sale 20% off on Amazon. I think target has the Dark Trooper battle pack for $24. Might as well get some Star Shit sets now before the price hikes. Small ATAT should also be 20% off.

The big ship was most white/black elements, I have some pics on my toster somewhere, maybe i can find it. I scraped some parts for triwheel and dish trailer,so its in shambles. The black/red planet parts are from my childhood lego bin, i try to not mix old and new legos for some reason.
And about that truck, that's pretty bad cashwise, maybe there were some specialized parts? The most expensive pieces in celestial sled that i replaced were 2 decorated plates but they costed like 0,8dol togheter. Its weird because some parts from waves like castle can be bonkers expensive, while others are dirty cheap. I ordered like 50% of the deep sea predator sub parts recently and paid sub 10dol for all + 2 dol shipping, shark canopy was like 0,15dol and its in mint condition. Some parts are just fucking cheap.

I watched Avatar for the first time a few months ago. It looked nice but I could predict the next thing that was gonna happen throughout the whole movie. The aesthetic doesn't translate well into lego is the problem. The aliens look like freaks, the enchanting landscapes look like a small child's rainbow puke MOCs and overall the sets look like chinese knockoffs from 10 years ago because nowadays the chinks just steal ideas from lego ideas submissions and rebrickable so their sets often look better designed than actual lego.

Avatar was a big deal because it looked amazing to audiences at the time. It also hit the sweet spot of the 3D movie comeback fad.
I remember going with my buddies to see it and one of them swore up and down that the movie could only be truly appreciated in 3D so we splurged for the retard tax. I recall thinking it was a spectacle flick with some neat moments here and there. Other than that the rest of the film was just okay, even if you don't think too hard about it.

My primary living is stalking online listings, yard sales, auctions, storage containers, etc. for Lego, buying it bone-cheap, and selling it to "muh source" people for a pretty savage markup. Depending on how little you can buy something for, it's pretty easy to source authentic replacement pieces to complete the model and nobody would ever know. Obviously this one doesn't have the box and instructions - no matter how poor condition - so that's also going to lower its value. As far as I can tell, the pieces just need a round in the ultrasonic cleaner. This bitch has it listed on mercari for 30 bucks, which is *not* worth it for the work you'll put into it cleaning, completing, and trying to relist it. This is especially true if you don't make a hobby or career out of managing Lego in-volume. I typically buy huge collections in things like estate sales, container auctions, divorce (lol), so I'd probably be getting something like this for 50 cents, but in isolation I'd offer 3-5 dollars. Don't pay his asking price if your intent is to relist for profit.

Motorize, or RC? Motorizing the front axle would probably be easier than the rear one unless you wanted to include a driveshaft. But either way you can lay a motor in lengthwise and use a few gears to transfer the power. RC with steering is a bit more difficult to fit. You'd have to drive the rear axle, and you'd also need to incorporate a steering rack and the motors for that.

Sup /lg/ I got two train related MOCs for you, one update and one brand new.

So I built this guy last October and at the time the choices for olive pieces was kinda slim pickings (Not that it still isn't), but back then the closest thing to a small tile available in the color was the 1x2 grill piece so I had to work with what I had. With the release of some Jurassic World set last month (I think it was the plane) olive 1x2 tiles now exist so I ordered enough to replace the grills from this. Here's how it looked before.

And here's a look at the other MOC I've been working on: a GWR Autocoach in the cream/chocolate brown livery. It's like 99% done partswise (gotta make an order for a few more dark brown pieces) and mostly based off some MOC I got off flickr, but I plan on making some more mods off of this based on the first version here. Mostly adding the cab doors to the front of the coach (I only have the passenger doors right now) and a full interior for passengers (Right now it's just an empty box).

Yeah if you're the end buyer it's worth whatever you're comfortaboe paying to have it, which is much more simple. Under circumstances where the time spent cleaning it isn't necessarily money, 7-10 bucks plus the shipping would probably be inside "feel good" territory for the pieces in that condition. The most critical element of course being you can't confirm the pieces. It all depends on if the seller will play with a lowball. At the end of the day you could get 99% of the same set built quasi-authentically for pretty dang cheap, so if the deal doesn't unfold precisely in your favor just spare the heartache and move on.

Those look great. Keep it up with realistic minifig scale vehicles.
Wether 2 or 4 seaters is more or less the same. The important part is having them seated side by side instead of tandem like most of City taxis.
I have very few moc like these but lots of digital ones. Theyre 6 to 11 studs wide for normal vechicles and 12+ for heavy cargo trucks and buses.

The money from Rebrickable isn't that bad if you can consistently make decent alt-builds for popular sets. I don't make too much *profit* but I easily break even on every set I decide to make a few alts for, which turns into a tiny trickle of sales for the next year or so before it fades out. If I did it full-time and really busted my ass making builds with a full multimedia suite around them with all the blog bullshit, I could probably make a decent chunk of money. Homermobile's don't sell but at least on Rebrickable you can throw your designs at the wall and see the immediate flip in feedback when something you submit is compelling enough to buy. My first design to really kick off paid for itself and the four or five designs I submitted before hand. After that each new design has been pretty successful now that I know what the community response is like. My economic model was to optimally repay myself 25/hr for prototyping, photography, and producing instructions, plus the flat cost of the set - satisfy that and I "break even." Your economic model will obviously be different depending on your intent, but *always* remember to factor your time into your profit model, otherwise you're not making money (time=money). I say learn how to make instructions in Stud.io and see where it takes you. If you make instructions for a dumb little MOC as practice it might inspire you to try one for real.
