Thanks to the anon that gave me the instructions for the Crossroad tavern! I finished building it today and I love it! I made some mistakes because the instructions are very outdated and weird... But I ordered the replacement pieces and should get them next week. Anyway. Thank you again.

Dan's old castle builds are kino. I remember seeing those floating around like 15 years ago, when I was kid looking on Lego sites for moc inspiration. Lego never really made much in terms of living quarters for figs, I think the og blacksmith shop and guarded inn are the only 2.

You can only anchor them with jumper plates but that depends on the lengh of the wall. Most of the time their just floating on tiles while the horizontal and verticale walls are attached.

If you are after axl to heresy just buy him he's pretty cheap. The minifig torso removal shouldn't be too hard.

Anyone else notice that deals on ebay have really dried up? I used to be able to find really awesome bulk lots with pieces and figs that would otherwise cost a fortune separate, but I haven't found any good buys in a really long time now.

the minifig removal is -not- easy because you have to essentially destroy parts of it to pull the torso out, since parts of it are glued.

seriously though the waist prints already make female torsos un-switchable with male torsos, what is that keeps lego from making a female torso mold?

The waist print is just such a cheap unimaginite way to empisize feminime bodyshape, and the "you meant to use your imagination" argument doesn't work because that's exactly what people did BEFORE there were "waist prints".

Waist prints should be dropped entirely or replaced with waist molds.

even Playmobil has had a workaround for this issue since 80s
minifigs are too blocky to work with hence minidolls were created. These ones bodes are distinctive enough between both male and female.

I've bought a fair amount of Chinese legos over the years of AE, have had a couple times where the package never arrived but was able to get refunded each time. AE uses an escrow system so the seller doesn't get paid until the package arrives, incentivizing them to be on the ball. In terms of brick quality YMMV but you can say that about Lego itself these days eh.

After thinking about it, one thing I like about the Avatar sets is that, with the exception of the mech duel set, they all focus on the good guys rather than a conflict. It reminds me of the first couple waves of Lego Star Wars where Lego was shy about making sets with more than one side or including blasters.

I had this set as a kid and stumbling upon some of its pieces a while ago got me "back" to Lego again. It was such a fun journey and seeing it complete again after all that time was very rewarding.

Still waiting to find that Temple of Anubis set for a semi-decent price tho, it was expensive then and it is even more nowadays...

That's like a $15k setup for a 4 pad machine, not counting in any editing software, computer, inks, etc.

Even cheapo UV printers are a minimum 2k for something decent.

I've never heard of someone screen printing, people still use waterslide decals though, which used to be the most commonplace in making custom figs.

i have barracuda bay and some parts of 3in1 pirateship isnt looking so good, i would grab it for parts, i dont have nostalgia hardon for classic space, because i started collecting lego during 2nd and 3rd space wave, so i hqve no intwntion to buy classic space rn. ive already got 3in1 castle, viking ship which i wanted to buy beforehand turned out to be just ok for that higher price tag range (i dont like interior to much). Crusader castle is overpriced almost like all tm disney lego, but it have all the parts that I can use for mocing (no unusable stuff in werid colors like with other 3in1) plus minifigure galore. Maybe i could buy another 3in1 castle or pirate ship for the right price, just for parts, but i waited for smth like this to pop out for few years and its my birthday this month so i just said fuck it, lets get crusaders.

That’s fair honestly. I don’t have much nostalgia for the space sets either, I just really like the design and look of them though. Also the Viking ship is nice because I really love the look of all three builds. Idk about the pirate ship, I haven’t gotten it mainly because I thought the other two builds were kinda lame

Hey guys, quick question does anyone have both a "Drum Lacquered Warm Gold" lego piece and a new "Gold Ink" lego piece?

Drum Lacquered Warm Gold is a retired color that was used from 2006-2016 on only 13 pieces.

Gold Ink is a new color, used since 2017 to this day (brickset has a mistake and says its a lot older but its definitely not), all I can say it looks a lot better than Pearl Gold. (around 53 pieces are made with this color)

But, for some reason Bricklink classifies these 2 colors as "Metallic Gold" so I assume that they are close enough, but I still would like to know what to expect to see when I put the 2 next to eachother, is there any difference in shade/reflectivity etc. Thanks in advance

Not sure, he was selling it as a "mix of old lego" and I went for it based on the parts I saw. From what I see there should be 6259, 6402, 6887 (not sure though), maybe parts of the Black Monarch's Ghost (basing this purely on the knight minifig, white torso minifig and the bird) and bunch of Town sets.

What the fuck is up with a Bricklink seller demanding average lot to be $1.00? Are they saying I need to buy multiples of an item until that lot reaches $1? That's fucking dumb if true. It's because a lot of shops don't want orders for a bunch of individual pieces because it takes too long to pick. A $20 order where you're making $10 can take a half hour just to pick and pack if it's something like 150 different pieces for example. Then there's the time to initially break down and sort, invoicing, drop off, etc. People that treat it like a business have to at least value their time at min wage.

The original version had a literally infinate world that would just keep generating more map as long as you explored it, the problem was it would them make a map that took up 100+gb, and would take 5 hours to load back into. They since added a handful of size options, and the largest map, while nothing compared to minecraft, was still plenty of space if you could have hosted a server for like 100 players. But the multiplayer was limited to only 2 players, and that made the community rage quit, then the game died shortly after.

The actual game was a rock solid foundation if they had just kept working on it, but lego are fucking weird and refuse to have anything last more than 2 years. The devs had spent their 2 years, and after that, they were forced to move onto the next shitty movie based lego game, lord of the rings or star wars or some other boring shit.

I just got pic related, and while the transparent parts are amazing and look better in person, I am wondering why Lego doesn't make transparent hands, torsos or hips? I've been clamouring for fully transparent force ghost minifigures ever since I first played the complete Saga.
On a related note, is it me or did Lego change their transparent plastic in the past 5 or 10 years? I've had transparent plastic from sets 15 to 20 years ago that look great, yet found window panes with a giant gash on them straight out of the box.

I don't think it's actually someone who is in charge of operations and able to do runs of their own on factory equipment. Everything in a modern factory is recorded both on camera, and by machine. It would take someone in a very senior role to accomplish something like that and get away with it, that just doesn't make sense.

Lego does do test molds in random colors, including transparents to check the quality of the piece they are producing. Those pieces are then recycled. My guess is that there is a store-room of parts to be recycled and someone with access to it is sneaking out parts and then reselling those parts to sellers on bricklink whom they have a connection with.

Probably my favorite set out of all the adventurers one. It has so much going on, tent campfire, jeep... lots of play value and I absolutely loved it when i was a kid.

I bought the haunted house nostalgia set in picrel, but its quality is abysmal to say the least. The design is nice and the mechanism is fun, but the plastic quality is shit tier. It stood assembled for 3 months on ny shelf and a lot of the 1x1x3 bricks have brutal hairline cracks. I am very disappointed and will probably not buy the new castle nostalgia set for this very reason. I'll just stick to 80's and 90's sets on ebay and bricklink. They probably shouldn't have put their factories in bugland and those central european banana republics, it really shows on their quality as of late.

Also in the pic is my squad, before they head out to Egypt.

That was my favorite adv set too, i asambled adventurers moc with my old stuff recenty but i have to make some better pics. I know that some set are bad qualitywise, but my baracuda bay and smithy still dont have any signs of broken pieces. Smithy stands on shelve more than 7months and i de and reconstructed barracuda for 3 times, no damage yet (and i have it 2 years). Still its fucking bad even if just some sets are having said issues.

There were several heatwaves in this past 2 months, but for fucks sake I have a MOC that has been assembled for 6 fucking years and the worst thing that happened to it was getting extremely dusty.

I also have the barracuda bay and it was assembled for the past 2 years and when I took the island parts apart, it didn't show any damage. I guess it depends on which factory it came from. The Danes are still operating theirs, so I might have been lucky. Fuck if I know, but this haunted house set has shit quality bricks for sure.

They probably break because the plastic they use nowadays is flimsy as shit. The studs and the walls of the 1x1x3 parts might not have the same heat expansion rate, is what I suspect as a cause. The studs simply expand faster and the walls crack under the pressure. Still, that's something I have never seen in older sets.

It's an official mod-kit limited to 200 pieces that consists of the normal set and a bag with parts and stickers to change it but instead of at least giving you another blank version of the part (which technically doesn't even exist) they demand you to put the sticker over the print.

Yeah, i saw 1x1 old brick with this type of damage, but it was like one piece in all of my old legos, clips were the only element that broke more and i think that was mostly caused by the amount of stress given by frequent playtime. Its obvious that some lego batches are worse than others, i thought the worst time is over (brown/red brown breaking up like choco 10-8 years ago) but that pics says that they still have quality problems.

Was at lego store today, i saw the new castle and classic space set (teaser, just boxes on the front of the store) some kid sat next it, just outside the shop window and start to drool all over the glass and his pants. If hes 100% lego enthusiast what % you rank yourself /lego?

Regarding the Castle at least, that isn't really nostalgia. There isn't a specific Castle build this is a recreation of. Theres an argument for the minifigures being throwbacks but the design is still modern. It's a new giant Castle. Kids like Castles. It's a niche, sure. But one of the larger niches. Two boys can pick up a few sticks near a jungle gym and be knights fighting over a castle in about 2 seconds.

I want barracuda bay so badly. I normally buy castle, but I've got a sudden urge to start buying / building pirates. I took a look through some old instructions, and I was pretty pleased to find that I can almost completely build 6250 Cross Bone Clipper using what I already had in my mixed lego pile. I never actually owned that set, but most of the pieces are so common, I'd be surprised if most people couldn't almost assemble the rest of it. I was able to pick up the rest of the pieces needed to make it from a few different sellers on bricklink, only thing I wasn't willing to shell out the money for was the sail. Gonna try to make my own sail, or maybe buy a cheaper sail alternative, I am just not sure of the dimensions from the instruction booklet.

Because the sets are cool in of themselves regardless if you were around for the originals. Classic Lego Space is before my time (I'm more into the 90s Space themes), but I'm highly considering getting the Galaxy Explorer.
I'm not into the castle as much, but the sheer size of it is impressive. Especially when you're a little kid and the set looks twice as big.
