It's not really a clever build, but sure - first problem is finding an attachment point for the front legs. This one was already here, but it's a weak connection for limbs.

Some Castle fags say the yellow castle(1978) was the first castle others say the Weetabix castle (1970) was the first

They are both wrong

The First Castle 1960

LEGO designed a castle that could be created (provided you had the right bricks) by following the instructions in LEGO Building Idea Book #1. Picrel which is as close to the old design as I could find.

As you can see it’s an interesting though gaudy design, not sure about the colours and the lack of minifigs (as with all sets of the time), so from a modern perspective it is a bit disappointing because after the build it lacks all playability. Still to make it now you would need hundreds of blue 1x1 window bricks (very rare) so it’s not something you will see often.

What's the point in keeping your lego sets separated. Absolutely loathe people that collect sets and never use the parts. These sets just sit on the shelf rotting away until 20 years later they put it on ebay for that sweet ROI that took decades to realize profit. They shove the dusty, brittle set in a box and ship it to you to sit on a new shelf for another 20 years.

I use to keep some of the sets and dont deconstruct them for parts, but I use others as a parts bin for my mocs. Some sets are really good looking, for example I want to keep barracudas bay ship and medival smithy on my shelve because i create mocs in the same theme. You dont account that some people dont have that much time to devise how many parts they need to order from bl for another moc, isnt a creative person or just dont have money. When im doing mocs, I easly spend waay more money on lego than usual. I buy around 2-3 sets yearly, but when my moc fever is on, i could make couple 20-50e orders like its nothing, its probably my worse addiction when it comes to money, because usualy i can control any of my material craving with ease. The worst people are the ones that keep buying +3-100 sw/tm sets and make them stand on the shelve.

Although Breached the castles are still holding and the Garrison still intact. A Heavy Calvary squadron has just arrived is about to outflank the Forestmen and cut them off. They have no cavalry , Armour , long arms and their force of light archers is no match for heavy calvary.
Given the time period(1992) I believe this battle
marked the end of the forestmen.

This is a great looking castle. The ramp-like bottom walls are cool and the old light grey plays well with the new blueish. I generally enjoy the colour texture with different tones of the same grey for castles. The actually yellowed pieces add to it, too.

The more wealthy nobles would have their personal retinues decked out in their livery, but yeah uniformed armies wouldn't come into their own until the 17th century. Been keeping that in mind while working on my medieval/fantasy armies, such as these archers.

I stayed up past midnight was on the shop when the GWP was still available, but the blacksmith went to backorder. I saved $30 buying it on Amazon instead, will be delivered tomorrow. I bought the GWP on Amazon for $55. All in all I spent about $25 more getting what I wanted on Amazon. Will deliver quicker, but sucks going through aftermarket. Lego really needs to fix this shit.

Uhh, I'm the anon you replied to. I used buy literally one set from every theme or buy a set for specific parts even tho I didnt like the theme like 7 years ago. I stopped buying Lego because I realized I was only hoarding pieces and never MOCd. Now I'm back and I only like buying sets of themes I really like since I actually MOC now, and I like OG star wars because the sets are closer to the original movie models. Prequel movies were all CG, and any nostalgia I have for them was from video games. Most nostalgia people have from the prequels is not from the movies but the Clone Wars cartoon. So all these "prequel" sets currently available like the blue Trade Federation stuff, 501st, Mandalorian ship, Asohka and Maul, none of that relates to me since I never cared about that show.

I also like the Mando show with Baby Sneed but every single one of those sets is so weak and only got the Trouble on Tatooine set to have a Mando, Yeed, and extra Tusken raider with some tan parts for Tatooine mocs. From my years of hoarding now I have a bunch of minifigs that I just don't give a shit about like China and Ninjago and stacks of manuals for yet another City police car or firetruck,

So now I just collect what I actually want, which is OG Star Wars and boomer IP models like Back to the Future and Ghostbusters. Might have gotten the Atari 2600 if it wasn't for the price hike.

It's not designed for castle fags though, it's a fucking medieval themed dollhouse designed for modular fags. EVERY SINGLE previously made lego castle was designed with the core principle of large exterior walls with an easy to access interior that was made for play with an emphasis on action. One of the other big drawbacks of the LK castle is it's focus on quantity over quality. Instead of giving us a dozen disjointed small "half rooms" that can only be accessed when folded open. It should have cut the number of rooms by half and focused on well thought out spaces. LKC is similar to Ninjago City Gardens in that it looks nice on the outside, but is a bunch of tiny little rooms on the inside that you don't really do anything with once it's built because the space is so limited.

Medieval Blacksmith works because the floors are fairly large and spacious with enough room for a variety of play. Each floor is it's own open room. Detail for the sake of the detail means nothing if you can only put a minifigure in one or two spots. Queens bedroom has enough room to have her sleeping or standing. Wow. Childs playroom is you can sit him to right or left. With the dining room you can have two minifigs sitting down. The half rooms are so tiny that play is extremely limited. It has detail but what it doesn't have is room. It's plastic for the sake of plastic.

After building the Jabba Palace and the Obi Wan Hut I realized the problem with Star Wars Lego is that they focus 99% on space ships and rarely on buildings. Otherwise the rest of the sets are interior ser pieces with no walls like the Luke vs Vader set in Palpatines throne room or the Vader chamber, or the Mandalorian forge. I dunno if we've ever had like a Jedi Temple or Yavin pyramid base. Also some old spaceships came with little builds like a control room which I feel let's you flesh out a building or walls.

I think they rounded the crenulations for aesthetics. You could argue from a practical perspective that rounded is better because it gives artillery/siege engines less surface area to bite into, which is the entire reason why round towers are the only way castles are built in the later period. However I doubt they thought that much about it. The castle is full of blind spots and horrible corners easy for artillery to bring down the walls.

It's difficult to explain. Disregarding the early stuff, Creator was always about sets build from basic pieces. Creatures, Houses and Vehicles. That's still the core but over the years it became weird. When Creator Expert became a thing in 2013 they suddenly added the modular buildings into it and then it evolved into this Adults Welcome bullshit and suddenly we also had licenced sets mixed in. Now they moved all that including the modulars into Icons.

I'd assume that if you don't have any track record of getting replacements then they'll just send another one without really looking into it.
I once had one held at the post office for some reason, so i told amazon and they shipped me a new one. Then like 2 days later the post office told me they had my order ready, so I picked that one up also.
It actually was Lego but unforunately it was just some random cheap set that I don't even remember.

Maybe just start by selling the most expensive ones (only if you don't care about them).
Then just sell ones you generally don't care about.
I only have a few clones I really like, such as the Phase 2 Wolfpack troops. I was actually considering selling a bunch of my other clones just to get a shock trooper but he's so goddamn expensive now.

I think the haunted house is a good set but something about it has always repulsed me away from buying it. Just now I realized it was because my actual IRL house used to be that shade of olive green and it made me really depressed. Yes and no. It looks like a good set and it is a good price per part ratio. However there are going to be a lot of pieces in the build that aren't going to be useful if you are doing MOCs. Lego designers typically use very specific pieces and a lot of colors that someone making a MOC would not. You might be better off ordering your own bricks that would be more useful for your specific idea. Unless you are planning on slightly modifying the set and/or want a shit ton of lion knights, black falcons and forestmen. Which is totally cool.

I have had great experiences with them. They frequently have sales and/or GWP deals, a neat rewards program, free worldwide shipping for orders $55 US and up, and (in my own experience) excellent customer service. Some of their pieces can fit very snugly - avoid the "Brute Armor" if you don't want to risk having a minifig head get stuck.

Their selection of medieval gear is varied and has more than a few references to well-known fantasy settings. One of my favorite things about BrickWarriors is that they offer pikes and spears of real length, makes a phalanx or schiltron look all the more impressive. Their 30-piece mystery bags are a bargain, if you don't mind getting some less useful stuff.

Tl;dr have spent more money on them than I care to admit and have not had a negative experience to date.

Been doing that myself with this little nightmare army, where every soldier has unique headgear and weapons. You can get some of BrickWarriors' stuff on AliExpress as well, though selection is more limited and you usually have to get them in lots of 10 (cheaper way to raise a company of "Thrall" tho). On a related note there's a helmet on Ali with a stag's head emblem on the front, meant to be House Baratheon's but is generic enough to be any medieval/fantasy setting. I only just began collecting Lego's again after decades of not being able to afford it (grown ass man now with a stable job) so the minifig collection is pretty barebones- just the blacksmith one and some ebay minifigs still coming in the mail of random knights/villagers, probably not going to build an army but more like a nice mini display of the Black Falcon castle on one side with Lego Blacksmith merged into it and Lion Knight castle on the other with all the other faction knights put inbetween.

My experience with AliExpress has been overall pretty good, never had an issue come up that wasn't resolved to my satisfaction and those have been rare enough. The escrow system AE uses to hold your payment until you get your order seems to be strong incentive for sellers to offer the best service possible. One downside is while many offer free shipping options, you'll most likely be waiting a month or so for those to arrive. I go with AliExpress Standard Shipping or ePacket where available, it usually isn't a lot and includes some tracking so you have a trail to point to if you need to dispute a non-arrival.

There's plenty of GoT, LotR, Chinese epics and other fantasy stuff to source interesting armor pieces and weapons, not to mention straight copies of a lot of TLG Castle. I'd suggest you test the waters with a modest order, things are cheap and if you end up having a problem you won't be out much.

Stores like these (open more than a year and with positive feedback rating in the mid to high 90s) tend to be safe bets.

One theme with some fun bigfigs is Enlighten's The War of Glory, more or less their not-WoW fantasy line. The clutch of the bricks is somewhat weaker than their more recent themes under their Qman rebranding but I got a couple to try out and generally enjoyed the neat accessories, weapons and of course that sweet rock monster. Unfortunately they seem to be on the way out, been sarching for a bit on Ali and haven't found active listings for most of the sets.

If you're already willing to go beyond Lego I highly recommend the GoT dragons from Mega's line, have both and they're both a lot of fun to pose and tower over all foes quite nicely. Really need to dig them out for some pics, maybe once the armies are further along...

Its kind of depressing to me how little in terms of high fantasy non-licensed stuff lego offers in terms of big monsters hence my willingness to go to off-brand manufacturers.

Well guys, I got the galaxy explorer, Viking ship, and the forestmen hideout. I’m really fuckinf happy because I wasn’t around for the forestmen and classic space, and didn’t care for Lego when the Vikings line was a thing, so I’m extremely happy I get to enjoy these. I've built it - the green is repugnant. The build itself is pretty great. Mechanism is awesome, but requires some uninstructed precision with the tolerances of the gears on axles in order to get it running smoothly. Good overall tho

The last wave of small technic sets was actually really good. The telehandler, skid steer, and stunt plane had good pieces, functions, and were between 7-12 dollars. The problem is the instant you get into the low-middle price range - 10-40 dollars - it turns into licenseshit with no functions. The jeep is crap, the John Deere was especially crap. And then theres a powergap where the surprisingly good sets and crap auto licenses are both mixed into the 100+ ballpark where your mileage will vary. I agree with more small technic sets, but as a business I understand that the mid-to-large sets with licenses are going to scrape a much fatter margin. Technic has fast become the "adult" theme with a large gap between good and cheap models, and a lack of whimsy in motif.
