Why is Normal immune to Ghost in the first place? What is it about *lack* of an elemental affinity that magically makes you impervious to the supernatural? Azurill, a Pokemon that is water-type in every behavioral way other than its actual given type, is immune to ghosts, but the moment it evolves, suddenly it's vulnerable. What?
On a tangent note, can we talk about Pokemon that are dual-typed with Normal? What the FUCK does it even mean to be Normal, essentially "No Type" by definition, while simultaneously being another type?
And why is Normal weak to Fighting, and ONLY Fighting? I would expect a "No Type" would be hit neutrally by all other types. Perhaps, in the interest of balance, it has to be checked by SOME type. But why was that type Fighting, of all things? I've heard it descried as "normals would lose in a fight against a disciplined opponent" but how does that make a fist more effective than a torrent of flame, or a crushing boulder, or a blast of psychic energy? If anything that should be an argument for Fighting resisting Normal (a fighter who is disciplined would no-sell your attacks), not the other way round.
