Had a dream I played the new PMD's demo.
It was still tile-based and played just like it is now, but it was also fully 3d in the sense that height played a role. The dungeons had puzzles that utilized this 3d environment, sometimes you even had to go to the "roof" of the map, which in this case was the top of the canyon's plateau.
It ended up feeling like a cross between PMD and Pikmin/Zelda/Paper Mario with how some of the puzzles were designed. One of the puzzles involved grabbing a special berry on the floor for a large neutral water type so they would use a water move to clear a path covered in flames. Another was a puzzle that required you to smash a series of boulders that were blocking the exit, you could either find a blast seed that generated on the level.
Despite these puzzles existing, there were always several ways to solve or just ignore them. I had a Mareep and a partner Wooper, The Mareep sometimes got replaced with a Charmander or Deino because dream logic. I used Wooper to cross through a second set of flames to grab a treasure, his water type made him resistant to the damage enough to survive the trek. I used my Deino to simply outrage a series of boulders down because I didn't feel like solving the puzzle normally.
I wasn't sure what to think of it, it didn't feel like a true PMD sequel since there was actual content to the randomly generated dungeons but I still had fun.
Until I cleared the Demo's first dungeon and was brought to a cash shop screen. There, I could have paid real life money to restore my belly, restore my hp, buff myself with x buffs for y amount of floors, etc. I could also pay for "legendary" packages to permanently buff my HP/Belly/Stats.
