>>55628896>hate that the anime staff changed her to your generic Pokegirl No.10Blame COVID and the sudden change in directors. The direction of the show changed wildly around episode 50 because of that change, which unfortunately resulted in, essentially, a rewriting of her character, from her original "normal irl girl pointing out the in-universe stupidity around her" persona to one where she was basically brainwashed into accepting that world. The gold digger Chloe meme caught fire partially because it kinda revived a part of the old Chloe mentality of seeing through all the bullshit: you had girls who, if they had any feelings for Ash, they beat around the bush and were incapable of being direct... and then suddenly we get an episode preview, right after Ash is world champ, with Chloe, who'd been bored out of her mind while he was battling, suddenly cozying up to him on the bus (Goh was there too, but they didn't show him on the preview) while Dawn, who'd been cheering him on throughout the battle, snapped out of existence. Couple that with how Chloe only started giving a shit about Ash and being impressed when going to Alola and learning he was champion there and was famous enough to have the whole arena chanting his name, and it's no wonder people latched onto it. Honestly /vp/'s Chloe lore is far more extensive than anything latter-half JN gave her.
