Gamefreak were kikes from the very start. The third editions are an outright scam, as they're basically like dlcs that should have been part of the (incomplete) first games.
But of course, they're even worse, as you have to pay full price for the new content.
They started doing this bs when selling incomplete games+dlc wasn't even a thing as it wasn't possible without a stable internet connection. Nowadays they've stopped selling third editions because selling an incomplete game+dlcs like other companies is more profitable and practical, but they were the ones who pioneered of this method.
It's extremely obvious how they make the first two games worse so they can sell you the "fix" in the third edition. For example, in Emerald you get a massive battle frontier and gym ratches, and they scrapped that in DP so they could re-introduce them as new features in Platinum. It's such a massive bs
