>>39581852>The whole issue here really falls that SM only really relies on the faces.Relying on the faces is not a bad thing though when Pokemon's situational comedy is reliant on the character's visual and vocal reactions. The art is a solid half of what's necessary.

Shots like these are quick reactionary gags just like any other in Pokemon, but the only difference is that more care was put into how silly they're drawn. Its not like the context of the current scene is completely ruined because the character's suddenly changed shape and the background became intense.
You don't have to like the art or the direction the series took but I don't really think you can say that putting more effort into the visual comedy aspect of the series is a detriment.
