Ribbonchads, unlike IV breeding that is a waste of time to contribute to battling, I respect your adventures despite your goal also being a few clicks away because getting a Ribbon Master is purely for self-satisfacation (see: Based), and unlike shiny timewasting you have to earn ribbons. I also commend finding a practical use for a bro and the small community(s) you have. Is it finally worth it once you have obtained everything a Ribbon Master can get? How long does it take you? Are there fanatics that have completed a "Ribbon Master Dex" like a shiny dex?

I don't remember where I heard it but apparently lugia was created last minute for the movie. Because of this ho-oh and its beasts were the only planned legendaries for gold and silver, with ho-oh being the big feature like mewtwo was in gen 1. My theory is that because of this it's shiny and regular variants were swapped and as a result they addes the rainbow thing to it's lore. When it flew by the rainbow in the 1st episode of the anime it was gold, an early design possibly before there was going to be a silver version. Shiny ho-oh is mostly gold with silver accents, the next iteration after they decided to do two versions again while regular ho-oh was designed as the shiny in reference to the anime cameo although limited by the color pallet of the gbc so we couldn't have it truly shine seven colors like ghe lore states and pic related but it was fine since almost nobody would legitimately encounter the shiny form so the closest they could get in one sprite was good enough. Then they got lugia dumped on them and since it was silver and they decided to do two versions anyway plus it would be popular from the movie they made it the other box legend and swapped ho-ohs sprites since it didn't have to represent silver version anymore and lugia didn't have gold accents to match. Ho-ohs design couldn't be updated to a proper rainbow due to tech limits and by time changing it was possible it was already established as red green and white with a bit of gold/yellow so it would've been too drastic of a change.
