Anyway, pic related is my favorite and it counts as a Starter. Honestly being a Sinnohfetus I still feel as though I was influenced by peer pressure. I mean Pokemon was still huge in my Elementary school and even middle school. Not so much in High School and even i'll admit to being in that "It's not cool" phase which is why I regretfully skipped gen 5. Even now and days I don't think that's true, around when SM came out I donated a bunch of my plushes to a charity and did some volunteer work for them, got to see the kids lose their fucking minds over the plushes and it was from Pokemon of entirely different generations, honestly it was really sweet and warmed my heart to see that stuff be put to good use instead of collecting dust. Anyway, my point is I think that kids are still influenced by peer pressure but you're absolutely right it was no where near as much as it was today. Maybe I'm wrong though, since I didn't experience Pokemania myself, afterall.
My opinion is
I actually think Gen 6 and 7 were perfectly fine and good games. They had charm to them and were overall enjoyable experiences. People just like to jump on bandwagons, 4 years from now /vp/ will all be saying "They were alright". There is a lot of good both gen 6 and 7 did that goes unappreciated.
