Gen 6 was a huge recovery for the series taking many needed steps, and no game since then has failed to innovate or expand on the formula the way gen 4 and 5 did. DSborts will complain about reused 3D models but ignore that Pokemon get new animations for those models between games, where gen 5 also included sprites barely updated since gen 3 or earlier, simply lazily tweened to add "animation."
