Literally the first thing you learn in Pokemon is that the grass is dangerous and filled with shit. Thats also what leads to you getting your starter.
Caves and other dungeons were designed to wear you down so that you leave the cave with half of your party dead and the other half poisoned just to get challenged by your rival named FAGGOT.
Its an element of pokemon they have been scaling down for a while now with NPCs that heal you and pussy rivals asking you if you want to fight. I didnt think they'd ever stoop this low though.
