If Ash was traveling with Lana right now amour fans would be calling Lanafags the worst and "just as bad", likewise with May or Dawn or Lillie or Giselle or whoever. And the same people would be using said character to trash talk them. This endless fighting is really all about XY/amour, everything else is coincidental.
Meanwhile I've always loved Misty as a character, and think she and Ash are cute together. And I'm happy they're getting screentime again. I don't need them to get all sappy and dramatic that's what fanfics and doujins are for, which I'll get more of thanks to this. There is no "losing" here for me.
