>>50014567>What are your thoughts on this almost-decade-old type? What I hate about the Fairy type is that it almost forces every new mon into the box of being cutesy, which seriously limits its potential as a generic typing and leads to it becoming extremely stereotyped and one-dimensional in terms of designs.
Which is why to me the best Fairy type made so far is Grimmsnarl, because it subverts expectations while staying true to the idea of a fairytale creature.
Another thing I hate is how it changed the competitive balance in such a way that anyone designing a Pokemon has a big incentive to slap the Fairy typing on their mon if they can get away with it, which further mucks and muddles the idea of what this type is even supposed to be. See Zacian for example, which is fundamentally no different a creature to Zamazenta and has nothing about its design suggestive of it being a Fairy, and yet has the type anyway, more than likely because they wanted a cheap and easy way to make it powerful and thus popular.
