Falinks pretty much takes advantage of most of swsh's quirks. A lot of modern pokemon designs get flack for being simplistic, rounded, or just a head, but Falinks uses this to pull off multiple parts moving in various patterns. The spartan heme is a pleasant surprise after most gen 8 mons have some British aspect to them and makes for a good palate cleanser. Its introduction is pretty much what I wanted out of overworld encounters: some centipede looking thing moving around out of reach makes you want to get closer and investigate, then you understand what it is once you enter battle. No Retreat's fun, too.
Also this really was the fighting type gen, huh? Maybe even more than gen 5.
