>>39271806Using your own Pokemon to build your own team is literally the core and gimmick of the series. Battle Frontier and PWT help push those cores even further by letting you bring in your own teams to whatever gimmick fights you wish or so you can see how long you last.
Nobody said that because expanding on the Pokedex with both new and old Pokemon in every new game was a given.
Nobody praises the first games of a new generation because the third game adds more content and fixes up bugs in the previous games, adds QOL changes, and overall makes it a better experience to play through.
If you really want a good comparison to what you're saying, you'd compare ORAS to Emerald, and see that everyone everywhere is STILL sucking Hoenn's dick to this day, but ORAS is usually a clean 50/50 with some admitting to only liking it because Gen 3 was their first game. Yet ORAS has an entire 3 generations to fill the gap in for, that's roughly about 300-400+ new Pokemon to collect. Yet people shit on it regardless because of how much of a let-down it was after HG/SS.
