I don't think it's too late for the series to right its course but I'm not too optimistic either, Game Freak explicitly wants the mobile audience and I think it's a lot more likely that the main games will be simplified even further to accommodate them, rather than having game like Let's Go for ultra-casual fans and letting the main series return to at least Gen IV-V difficulty/complexity. But there's no reason to point to this dumb spinoff and say it's ruined forever.

It WAS announced that Let's Go would be used to introduce the first Gen 8 Pokémon, like they did with Gen 4 introducing Bonsly and Munchlax in spinoffs before they properly released, but that's not any reason to drop $60 on console Pokémon Go.
