Speaking as someone who considers themself a XYfan, I stopped watching for the same reason I started, the formula. XY was a change in pace, the show became something I actually wanted, a passable shonen battle anime with some actual potential to break the losing streak and win his league. SM decided it wanted to be cuter, more slice of life and humorous and all around a different kinda show. That's fair but it's not really what I was interested in. And sure while he won that league in the end, there really just wasn't hype going into it like there was for XY, which laid it on thick that it was going to be a cooler more serious show. The only reason I didn't pick up PM is because I literally did not know it was happening. No one talked about PM like they did about XY, hyping it up as a formula breaker and a return what I wanted to see. I only got back in because the new intro went viral on twitter and my shonen poisoned brain got hooked.
And sure, you could say what I want is shallow, but this is the fucking Pokemon anime, it's always going to be shallow. XY was Shallow, SM was Shallow, PM is Shallow. We're all waist deep in this shitty 25 year old anime about an eternally 10 year old boy, no one here has any right to judge.
