gotta say, Amour's importance and influence can't be understated. it shows the writers really know how to nail romance after many seasons of not being able to get it down. May and Drew was pretty nice but they couldn't really get their footing and it rang hollow and don't get me started with every girl that had a "crush" on Ash before Serena which either went unresolved or was so non-existent that massive swathes of headcanon and fanfiction was required to force it to work where it couldn't in canon. Since Yajima is a director and isn't responsible for every little thing that happens in the anime (what a silly thought that would be) I can't say for certain that amour was his idea, especially how themes of romance are non-existent in his movies compared to XY but I'd like to think being the based man that he is he sat down the staff and said "Okay, no more fucking around" and they got to fucking work.
