>>44968978It's just the popular thing to assume that Red was sitting 24/7 at Mt. Silver based on us finding him there and his mother making the comment that he hadn't visited Pallet in a while. It could just as easily have been an unlikely chance encounter with another wandering trainer, not some crazy teenaged hermit who's taken up residence on the mountain.
Both of these are headcanon interpretations, but one of them makes for a 'cooler' narrative and characterisation, so that's what people latch on to even if there are more sensible explanations.
